Manuela Malsiner is the first jumper I’ve seen not jump at the green light (because the coach thought it was too dangerous). They’re supposed to be dsq’ed after that, but I guess they made an exception this time?
Why didn’t they just hold the women’s comp yesterday instead of the scheduled quali? This waiting game will probably result in a cancellation.

Young Champ Grow: Manuela Malsiner and Viktor Polasek won Junior World Champ
Manuela Malsiner of Italy is the new Junior World Champion in Ladies Ski Jumping. The 19-year old won with jumps to 93,0 and 95,5 meters and 239,8 points in Park City (USA) ahead of the two Slovenians Ema Klinec and Nika Kriznar.
With her victory Malsiner put the cherry on the cake of her already very successful year 2017. Two weeks ago she celebrated her first World Cup podiums in Zao (JPN). Klinec was still in the lead after her jump to 92,0 meters in the first round. 93,0 meters in the final and 238,0 points gave her an advantage of 0,1 points to Kriznar and the silver medal. Nika Kriznar, with only 17 years of age one of the youngest participants, performed 91,0 and 95,5 meters.
At the FIS Junior World Championships in Park City (USA), where Simon Ammann won two Olympic gold medals in 2002, the men’s individual title went to Viktor Polasek.
The Czech, who already won a COC this year and showed a strong performance with an 18th place in the World Cup in Zakopane, was the best in both rounds on the HS 100 with 97 m and 96.5 m and took the gold with 263.2 points. In his third Junior World Championships the 19-year-old can now celebrate winning his first medal.
With jumps of 97 m and 95 m and 260.6 points, Alex Insam of Italy won the silver medal. Konstantin Schmid of Germany was chasing the podium after the first round in fourth with 92.5 m, 96.5 m in the final then earned him his podium finish.

Ito Wins as Takanashi Falters Again at FIS Ski Jumping World Cup
Yuki Ito claimed victory at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup on home snow as formidable compatriot Sara Takanashi’s recent slump in form continued in Zaō.
Ito, who earned her maiden World Cup win in Sapporo on Saturday (January 14), scored a total of 213.6 points after she produced jumps of 89.5 and 94 meters.
Italy’s Manuela Malsiner surprisingly took second place…
