Mayblade 2024: Day 22 - Tropical

TL;DR — I like all of the characters.

The first character I first fell in love with: Fell in love with? I don't think I was too super super keen on any of them, but probably Max because he was like...the only one who seemed to be based in any sort of reality that I recognized and he was friendly and fun and sweet. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: MICHAEL! I NEVER liked him (or really any of the All Stars other than Emily) when I was younger, but through a couple of fics and getting older I really started to appreciate him. I think it's because he reminds me of a couple of people I know in real life, and if I'm honest, I feel kind of bad for him. He goes from being World Champion (from what I remember?) to being kind of forgotten about. Which is a BUMMER because despite being a pain in the ass and far too over confident, it's evident that he has is quite a talented athlete and probably just needs a bit of love. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I don't think that there are any characters that I don't like, if I'm honest (other than like, Balkov because he's absolutely awful, but no one likes him, so that doesn't work for this qustion).

I used to have some gripes with Julia when I was younger, but I realize that that was because I kind of just wished that I was more like Julia and she's very much the opposite of me. I also have some weird takes about how her and Raul were introduced into the series which I don't think help. BUT I do really like her, like, a lot, and she is probably one of my favourite characters....SO...I don't know....BROOKLYN? Do people like Brooklyn?

I don't have a good answer for this, I'm so sorry, haha. The character I love that everyone else hates: Oh gosh. I actually like, famously don't hate Judy. She very obviously needs therapy and needs to go to a parenting class, but like...despite her terrible parenting decisions she just...clearly loves Max. And since I've grown up and become a professional woman like...I don't understand her but like...I feel her a bit more...I DON'T KNOW. I have a lot of thoughts about Judy and like, I know and completely understand why people really don't like her, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Mr. Rei. I still like him. But when I was younger, I used to consider him very cool, clam, and collected (and he is all of those things), but I realize now that he can be a bit over confident and cocky and cold, and not in a way that I find incredibly endearing. The character I would totally smooch: I'm not big on smooching, but the answer is that if any of them wanted to smooch me then I would probably smooch them. Yuriy is probably my simp answer. But like, I'm not kidding. Like, I'd probably kiss any of them. Just like. The amount of star struck that I would be (if they were real...which they aren't, so this is redundant) is just...too much.

That's a lie. I wouldn't smooch Daichi. But I wish him the best. The character I’d want to be like: I mentioned it earlier but I've always wished that I was a bit more like Julia. Something about how confident and outgoing that Julia is is something I've always wanted to channel, especially when I was younger. Not so much now, though. I'm currently fairly happy with being a Mathilda with a Salima rising. The character I’d slap: ALL OF THEM? I think that's cheating. Rick probably. He's a weenie. A pairing that I love: ALSO ALL OF THEM.

I like most ships most of the time. My go to is probably YuriyxKai, but I also am a big fan of SergeixMathilda, and JuliaxMathilda. I might be the only one who ships JuliaxBryan/Boris, but I will go down with the ship. OH AND MAOxRICK....and MaoxEmily...Literally like, if someone has a ship, I probably like it. Very few exceptions. A pairing that I despise: DESPISE? It's such a strong word, oh gosh.

I'm going to change the question to "pairing that I do not understand". I said above that I like most ships, which is true, but despite how much fic I've read and art I've looked at, I've never been able to get behind Yuriy/Julia (I know everyone else is off on a cruise without me, but like, I lost my ticket for the boat and cannot find it). Kai/Rei is another one that I've never full been able to figure out.

I will say that aesthetically, both of these ships are 10/10 beautiful ships, though.
