Grace. {21} ___________________ True story. This challenge has been tough for me. Making Art Marks is what I love and that part has made me smile every day, but the words, the self care, the slowing down and thinking about my actions has been hard. ___________________ But I made a pact with myself to see this through. Difficult or not I wanted to see this through. I knew going in that this is what I needed, but it has been a real eye opener to rest a bit each day and really get to the heart of each prompt and think about how it applies to me, my art and my self care. ___________________ Grace is such a special word. “Courteous goodwill” is part of the definition. Yes. I want to be known for my grace. I want to take the time to reevaluate myself and my actions and make sure that on any given day I am showing courteous goodwill toward myself and others. It is not easy to always have a sense of grace about ourselves. We fall down, we get mad, we ignore what our bodies are trying to tell us, we fall short, and we fail to be kind. But for every time we are faced with failing to be kind to ourselves and our loved ones we are offered the opportunity to be courteous, to show grace and goodwill. I want to take a breath each and every time I am in a position to be kind. I want to make the right choice, both for myself and for those around me. ___________________ My art is an outlet and it offers me the chance to get some of the ugly stuff off my chest without hurting those I love…because let’s be honest, when they hurt, so do I. So I will keep making art, and I will keep trying to be a better version of myself. One that is known for her sense of kindness and grace.   ___________________ These are fun {FREE} art challenges. Loving my little Pocket Journal so much these days. _____________________ I think mostly it’s because it is beginning to fill up all of these fun little facial experiments. _____________________ Faces are hard for me. They scare me most days in fact...but I keep at it because I know that even though it still feels difficult, I’m making progress. Nothing big, nothing even notable really to the rest of the world, but to me that dread of starting is no longer there. This Pocket Journal. It is literally my favorite art Journal ever. The first time I made one of these I knew I was hooked. There was no going back. The mix of assorted paper pages- all sizes and shapes and the size. So yes. I’m forever in love with this little afterthought of an Art Journal . _____________________ And I am adding more my Art Marks cards in today. I love adding Marks and Words to these. Do what you love. Life is too short to wait. This is what I want to remember in the New Year. This is what I want to focus on one hundred percent. _____________________ The hardest part for me is always remembering this doesn’t have to mean art. Sure I want to make art that I love. Art Marks are who I am. They are deep in my soul. But there are so many days that I need more than art. _____________________ I need love. I need family. I need faith. I need motivation. I need hugs. I need to be alone. I need to wander. I need to laugh. I need to cuddle babies. I need to garden. I need to pray. And I need to understand that art is just a small part of who I am. I need to understand that there are many things that I love and want to do. _____________________ And so in 2018 I need to remember to remember these things. I love them. And they matter. And life IS too short to push those things aside. I spy tiny fingers on my art journal. _____________________ She loves these books and seems to find her way back to them over and over again. I love that she loves leafing through them. But I love her curious and honest eye even more. _____________________ She asked me about the mismatched eyes on this one. She wanted to know what made them that way. She wanted to know why I would draw them that way. I told her it was an experiment. She didn’t question that. Her four year old mind accepted it for what it was. As she walked away she said. “I like that face Gram.
