Your best friend was getting married in a month and you and your closest friend group had planned a trip away ever since she got engaged two years ago. You were excited that all of you had finally found a time that would work for the whole group. You had been excited to get away but that had changed because now you were a mother.

Two months had passed since you had walked out on Mason that night and you weren’t going to pretend like everything had been perfect ever since but it was good, a lot better and you had both worked through the problem. Mason had made such an effort for all three of you, for your marriage and for Leon. You could tell everything that happened affected him a lot but he tried to not show it even if you both knew you could read him like an open book. When Leon would wake up during the nights he would get up right away, even if it was your turn to do so. He would claim ‘he had to make up for lost time’ and even if it was meant to be a lighthearted comment it made you sad and you would reach for Leon and tell Mason to get back in bed, that there was no lost time to make up for. He was here now, yesterday and the weeks before and that was what mattered to you. You had missed having him during the nights and now, the only times you’d go to sleep with just Leon was when Mason was away on international break or playing in another country. 

You felt bad about leaving for a full week, you had both worked through the issues you had and now you felt a little hypocritical for doing what you had been so upset at Mason for doing. You had called his mum and talked about it and she had told you over and over that it was not the same thing at all. That you deserved to get away for a bit and Mason would agree. She had been right because when you reminded Mason of the trip three weeks ago he had immediately been excited for you, happy that you would go away for a bit and just relax.

“Maybe I should just cancel, it’s not too late and I’m sure the girls will understand.” It was definitley too late, you were leaving tomorrow morning.

You were sitting on the floor with your suitcase open next to you as you packed all the outfits you had planned days ago with the help of Mason. You smiled a little at the memory of him sitting on the bed with Leon in his lap as he watched you walk out of your closet with different outfits on and each time he would whistle and shower you with compliments and each time it would make you blush like the first time you’d met.

“There is no chance you’re doing that, we will be fine.” Mason eyes turned towards Leon who was leaning on a pillow, his stuffed animal in his hands keeping him entertained, “won’t we little man? mummy’s got nothing to worry about, right?” when he earned a grumble in return from the little boy he just laughed and looked back at you, “see? he agrees” he smiles.

“I know you can handle him Mase. It’s just, I don’t even know. I’m just being stupid.” You didn’t want to tell him the real reason because you know it would make him feel bad. 

“You’re not stupid, angel. If it’s about everything that happened then you don’t have to worry. We’ve worked through it, haven’t we?” You didn’t like how unsure of himself he suddenly sounded. You never wanted him to ever think that you didn’t trust him with Leon. You know your son is his entire world just like he is Leon’s. You got up from your position on the floor and moved to the bed right away, moving to staddle his lap and lean forward so you can press a kiss to his lips. His hands immediately find their place under his shirt that you’re wearing as your fingers run through his hair. Loving how it looks with the length he’s let it grow out to. He hums against your lips and you smile against him as he pulls you closer. 

“We have, I’m sorry.” You said before you moved to rest your head against his chest as you reached a hand out so you could grab Leon’s hand that was moving all around himself. You didn’t want him to poke himself in the eye, something he would tend to do a lot recently. “Be careful of your eyes, mister.”

“You don’t have to apologize for anything, baby.” Mason said before pressing a kiss to your head and when you looked back at him he pressed his lips to your forhead where you could feel a smile form. “Now, I would really love,” he made sure to draw the words out before continuing, “for you to model that tiny red bikini I saw you pack in there.” You just rolled your eyes but with a final kiss to his lips you did as he asked and got up, ending up modeling all the other pieces for him too. 

The next morning when you woke up you found it difficult to get out of bed and on the ride to the airport you sat in the back with Leon, playing with him the entire time and kissing his entire face over and over until his giggles were heard over the music playing in the car. You found yourself just hoping the short trip would last longer. When you stood in the middle of the airport with a pout on your face you tried really hard to not cry even if you could feel the tears that had started to gather in your eyes. Mason could tell. “We will be fine, gorgeous.” He tried to reassure you before glancing down at Leon who was resting in your arms. You were refusing to let go of him until you absolutely had to and Mason can’t help but smile fondly at the way his head was resting against your chest as his little fingers played with your necklace. 

“I know, I know you will be, handsome.” You hum as you turn to pepper kisses on Leon’s chubby cheeks and when he squeals and buries his head into your neck you’re ready to tell Mason to just take the three of you home. It’s like Mason can read your mind because when you look up at him he’s already shaking his head even if he’s smiling. 

“Mummy’s going to miss you so much my darling boy. So much but we will talk every single night and I will get to see your perfect face and little smile before I go to bed, okay? Mummy loves you so much.” When you press a kiss to his head, Leon turns so his whole body is resting against your front and when his little arms reach up so they can wrap around your neck you lose it and can’t stop the tears that have gathered in your eyes from falling. Mason reaches a hand forward so he can try to wipe the fresh fallen tears from your face before he pulls you in towards him, letting you lean against him while he tries to calm you down. He would whisper that Leon was going to be fine and that he would call every morning and night, trying to help you relax but not trying to make your feelings seem invalid because they aren’t. He knows how you’ve been dreading leaving Leon. He remembers how before you two were even married you had struggled to leave just him and home for just a three day trip. He knows this time was just a thousand times harder. 

“Hand him over, baby.” Mason mumbles before he looks down at you, you look so beautiful to him and he can’t help but lean forward so he can press kisses on your tear stained rosy cheeks. “My pretty wife” the comment makes you smile and that’s all that Mason needs right there. You hand Leon over after pressing aother ten or more kisses to his cheeks, nose and forhead and when he settles against Mason right away and his little hand finds his daddy’s stubbly cheek like it always does you can’t help but coo. Your eyes find Mason’s again before you wrap your arms around his torso and his free hand caresses your cheek, “I will miss you too my big handsome baby” you smile before he pulls you in for a kiss, a kiss that makes you forget about everything for just a moment as you melt against your husband. 

“I’ll miss you too. So much. I already do. I love you.”

“I love you.” You lean up and kiss his lips again before leaning down so you can press another kiss to Leon’s nose, the little boy having his eyes set on his mum now. “Mummy loves you too, my little precious bean.” Mason rolls his eyes at the nickname, always telling you to not call your son a bean but you still did because it was a cute nickname.

“You really need to go now or you’ll miss your flight, love.”

“Maybe that’s been my plan all day.”

Mason just shakes his head but the smile doesn’t leave his face once, “please go and have fun. You deserve this so much, I just want you to enjoy yourself.” Before you can respond you can hear your group of friends shouting for you to hurry but you ignore them, your focus completely on your boys while Mason gives them a thumbs up.

“Okay, I’m going. I’m going to go and get a really nice natural tan,” you tease through a giggle and when Mason groans you can’t help but laugh even more. “I love you Mase, I love you both so much. You know where everything is, just call me at any time if you need anyth-” you don’t get to finish your sentence before Mason’s lips are back on yours again, this time deepening the kiss, taking your breath away before breaking away from you. 

“Yes now go have fun, baby.” and with a final slap to your bum you’re walking away from them, your back still towards your friends as you blow your boys kisses. When you stop again Mason can’t help but let out a low laugh but the smile that has taken over your face makes his heart speed up. 

“Just one more thing” Mason raises his eyebrows as he waits for you to talk but the smile doesn’t leave his lips once and you have to stop yourself from running back to him so you can kiss him again. “He has so many clothes, most of it because of you and your teammates. So please Mase, no Chelsea merch for more than three times a week and that includes matchdays!” He can’t help but let out a loud laugh as he nods his head but the way he’s smiling tells you that he was not going to listen to that. 

When Mason got home he wasn’t feeling nervous, he was taking care of his own son so he had no reason to be nervous. It felt a little strage being in the house without you, it was the house you had bought together after he had asked you to move in with him so he never enjoyed being in it without you. It was still early so Mason sat down with Leon on the sofa, a cartoon playing on the screen infront of them and when his son fell asleep an hour later Mason put him down in his crib before he went to his own bedroom and laid down. 

He could do this.

The night had gone surprisingly smooth, Leon had only woken up twice and when he did he wasn’t being fussy at all. He had settled again after having his bottle and a few cuddles. 

Yeah, Mason could do this. 

The second night he could tell Leo was already missing you and Mason would be lying if he said he wasn’t panicking a little. He had ended up moving around Leon’s room for an hour after checking if he needed to be changed. He was trying to reach for any toy to try and calm his crying baby in his arms but not even his stuffed animal was helping. When not even his bottle was helping, Mason reached for his phone so he could call Declan, being the favorite uncle Mason was hoping it would calm his son down a little to see another familiar face. 

“Bro, unless you’re dying which I assume you’re not since you’re calling then I don’t care. It’s fucking four in the morn- Leon!” He shouted down the line before focusing on the boy again. “Hello there my best mate, is your daddy annoying you? he is isn’t he? join the club mate.” Mason couldn’t help but grin when Leon’s loud cries turned into whines and then giggles as Declan spent the early hours of his morning making silly faces and sounds for the eight month old.

The next day Mason had a day off and after going on a morning walk with Leon, both boys had settled on the sofa when they got home. Some baby food and snacks decorating the table infront of them with a game of football playing on the TV. Leon was sitting against a pillow next to Mason with his head leaning on his fathers stomach as Mason held his little hand. “You like footy don’t you mate. Just like daddy, aren’t you? I can’t wait for you to take your first steps so we can spend all our days in the garden playing.” When the little boy looked up at his dad with droopy eyelids but a smile on his face all Mason could think was that he couldn’t possibly love anything more. 

Mason was missing you a lot and tonight he couldn’t wait for you to call him like you would do every night. You would call once during the day, once before Leon would be sleeping and then once when you got home from your night out with the girls. Tonight Mason couldn’t wait so he called you instead, even if he knew you would likely still be out. He was right because the second you answered the phone all he could hear was the music around you before he heard you shout “just a second, handsome” down the line. He couldn’t stop himself from smiling even if the shout made him wince a little, hoping it wouldn’t wake Leon who’s body was resting on Mason’s lower stomach, his little legs dangling out from the sides. When you finally made it outside after dragging one of your friends with you, Mason couldn’t help but think about how stunning you looked. Your cheeks flushed from the heat inside the bar and probably the alcohol. You had already got a slight tan that made you look like a glowing goddess in his eyes.

“Hi handsome.” You grinned down the line and just by taking another look at your eyes he could tell you were a little tipsy. It made him happy, that you were lettig go for just a little bit. You had been nonstop with Leon for eight months, nobody deserved a break more than you did. 

“Hi beautiful. You having a good time?” there’s no response from you for a second and he frowns a little when he can hear two men in the background trying to chat you up. “I suppose those men don’t see the massive fucking rock on your finger then?” and you can’t help but let out a loud laugh at the comment before making a joke that ‘maybe you should have gotten a bigger one’ and Mason can’t stop the smile from taking over his face at your teasing. 

“Yes, having a good time. Just miss you both.” 

“We miss you too mumma.” 

You hum, “I love your handsome face so much but show me little man please.” 

You can’t help but giggle when Mason mocks offense and glares at you before he flips the camera so it’s settled on your Leon who hasn’t moved from his position. His face is angled slightly upwards with his pacifier still in his mouth, his little fist is wrapped around Mason’s shirt and both you and your friend can’t help but coo down the line at how precious he looks. When Mason notices your eyes water he flips the camera back so it’s settled on him again. “My little baby” you whisper and your friend presses a kiss against the side of your head reminding you that you would get to hold him in just a few more days. You were having an amazing time but would be lying if you said you weren’t counting down the hours. 

“Any Greek God whisked you away yet?” You know Mason is just trying to change the topic so you won’t have time to get sad about Leon and it works because your face breaks out in a grin and you can’t help but laugh at the way he’s trying to stay serious.

“I can’t say they haven’t tried” you hum down the line. Of course they had, Mason wasn’t stupid. He knew that no matter where you went you always had eyes on you and the attention of many men and that wouldn’t change with you being in another country. “But I tell them that I’m very happy with my English God at home.” He can’t help but laugh at that and when Leon stirrs against him, Mason bites his lip as he rubs his had up and down his back until the little boy settles again a few seconds later.

“Mase, they’re calling us back, baby. Don’t be jealous but we’re going to do shots.” You smirk at him before you wiggle your eyebrows earning a low laugh and shake of the head from Mason. You think about all those nights out pre pregnancy and marriage you’d both spend out taking shots with your friends. Some off each other. 

Mason can’t help but smile as he thinks back on the same memories. “I won’t hold you up. I love you.” He says before he blows you a kiss.

“I love you! Who’s watching Leon tomororw?”

“What?” 

“You have training and a game Mase. Don’t tell me you forgot.” You knew he had forgotten judging by the confusion on his face.

“Oh, no of course I haven’t! Ben is watching him.” Yes, Mason had forgot to sort a babysitter out and at this time he didn’t want to bother anyone. When he hung up the phone he looked down at Leon, “you’re coming with daddy to training little man.” He whispered and a few minutes later Mason fell asleep with Leon still resting against him because Mason didn’t have the heart to move him. 

When Mason woke up the next morning he felt like absolute hell. Leon had been a nightmare all night and he could probably not even count the minutes he had slept with two hands. It had been that bad and he felt like an awful dad when he couldn’t calm him down no matter how much he had tried. He had wanted to call you but he didn’t want to wake you up and for you to think he was a bad dad even if he knew you would never think that way. 

“Someone is looking rought.” Is what Reece tells him when he walks into the training center for a light workout and checkups before the game later. “Hello mate, are you not letting your daddy sleep at all?” Mason let’s Reece take Leon while he goes to get changed and when he returns to the room all his teammates have gathered around Leon as they fight for the attention of the giggling boy standing in the centre with the help of Kai. Mason sat back for just a second and closed his eyes as he relaxed for a little bit. He was feeling like this because two awful nights had taken a toll on him but this is what you had felt like for a full month when he was busy being a twat and he had no idea. Mason had tried to forget about what had happened but it was always in the back of his mind, how bad of a husband he had been to you and arguably a bad father too. How he had almost lost you both because of his own mistakes. You would tell him to forget about it, that you both had worked through it and it was true but it still made him feel bad. He was brought back to reality a few moments later when he heard Leon giggle and when he looked at his son, his little brown eyes were already settled on him and when the little boy noticed his dad was also looking at him, his eyes widened a little as his arms reached out for Mason. When Mason holds him in his arms he realizes that even if he wasn’t able to get him to sleep right away or always stop him from crying, he was still his sons whole world. 

Well, one half of it. 

Mason had called his mum when he woke up and asked her to come to the game that day so she could take Leon and she had jumped at the chance, always missing her grandson. When the game was done he had met up with his parents and invited them over for dinner and while the three of them along with Leon sat around the dining table you had called Mason. You ended up talking about your trip with his parents for about thirty minutes before your girlfriend had come knocking on your door telling you to hurry up and before you could hang up Mason walked out into the hall just to tell you how incredible you looked in your dress. The one he had loved the most when you tried it on, it hugged every single curve of your body perfectly. 

That night was even harder for Mason. When his parents had left Leon was sleeping but the second Mason had sat down to watch a movie while he waited for you to call him the cries from upstairs could be heard so clearly. He didn’t even need the baby monitor. Mason hurried up the stairs and the second he reached Leon’s room he grabbed his son right away. “Hi mate, did you get scared? Daddy’s got you.” But Leon didn’t calm down and his screams were breaking Mason’s heart because even as he walked around the room and back downstairs, bouncing the child in his arms nothing was helping. “Leon, you wanna tell daddy about your bad dream?” Mason talks to him for about fifteen minutes until his cries stop for a little bit and when Leon looks up at him with eyes identical to his own, Mason feels his heart ache at how sad he looks and how the tears won’t stop falling. “Don’t be sad my boy. I got you. You wanna join me in bed instead? just don’t tell mummy okay. She won’t be happy to know you’ve only slept in our bed.” When he got back to bed he noticed his phone lighting up with a text from you,

‘will be a late one tonight lovie, don’t wait up. Call me tomorrow when you can. Love you and Leon xx’. Mason sent you a quick reply telling you goodnight and even if he missed you he thought it was for the best that you didn’t talk with how fussy Leon was being. The little boy was not settling and even if Mason felt like he had tried everything Leon was still sitting on his lap, crying against his chest. The little boy wasn’t taking his bottle and if Mason wasn’t feeling stressed and a little upset he would find it funny how Leon’s small chubby hands would try to slap the bottle away. He wasn’t in need to be changed either and after an hour he would settle for a few seconds and when Mason would let out a slight sigh of relief Leon’s soft whines would turn into loud sobs again. It made Mason worry that he was sick but he would check and he didn’t have a fever either, he was just praying it wasn’t his ears causing this pain. 

At three in the morning, hours after he had last texted you Leon was still wide awake, soft whines filling the room as he balanced on Mason’s thighs while Mason presses open mouthed kisses to his hads and bare stomach, trying to do anything to make him laugh. “You’re getting so big. Daddy wants you to stay little alright mate.” When Leon settles again, no longer even whining Mason guides him so he can bury his little face into his neck as he rubs his back while he reaches for a blanket to pull over the both of them. After a few minutes of laying there and Leon reaches up to press his hand against Mason’s stubbly cheek and that’s how Mason knows that his little boy is okay so with a kiss to his head he watches as he closes his eyes and finally falls asleep. Leon’s soft breaths all that can be heard in the room and Mason joins him seconds later and they both remain asleep for the rest of the night. 

When Mason wakes up the next morning he sends you a picture he had taken of Leon the day before followed by a selfie of himself, ‘we can’t wait to see you tomorrow mumma’  because truly, Mason couldn’t wait. He was missing you like mad and he knew Leon was too and before he could read your reply his son who was waking up next to him stole his attention away from his phone. The second his eyes opened up and settled on his father his arms streched out for Mason right away and it was something that would always make Mason smile. After picking his boy up and changing him he sent you a quick reply telling you that you looked incredible in your bikini and then he got started on his day. Breakfast was on the agenda and Mason was running on ideas on what to have. He was missing your breakfast a lot. After having his eggs he cleaned a bit around the house while keeping an eye on Leon who was laying on the mat, trying to rock back and fourth on his hands and knees while playing with his toys. 

“Daddy is free today.” Leon’s eyes lit up a little at his father’s words, as if he could understand what he was saying. “Yeah mate, that’s really exciting isn’t it?” He said, crouching down so he could lightly pinch his nose before pressing a kiss to it earning a loud giggle from Leon. “We are going to meet your silly uncle Ben today for lunch, mate. Daddy’s just going to clean a little bit more since mummy is coming home tomorrow.” When Mason was done with his cleaning he dressed himself before going into Leon’s part of the closet. Reaching for a pair of jeans, shirt and sweater and after a little bit of struggling he finally managed to get Leon’s wiggling arms into the sweater. Before they left the house Mason grabbed the tiny Chelsea puffer jacket he had got from the staff at the club. The jacket had been too big for him until a month ago but now that it would fit Mason would always reach for the same jacket when it was his turn to dress Leon. 

“You look like hell bro.” Was the first thing Ben told Mason when he sat down at the small table at the resturant they had come to. He knew it himself, he knew he looked tired because he was feeling tired too. He feels like he had not even gotten ten hours of sleep all week.

“Cheers you twat.” Was Mason’s sarcastic reply as he tried to pull Leon’s hands away from reaching for Ben’s glass of water. 

“You talked to y/n? She’s coming home tomorrow, right?”

“Yeah, I talked to her this morning after she went down to the pool. I’ll talk to her later again just don’t want to bother her too much. I want her to really take advantage and enjoy herself.” Mason shrugged before thanking the waitress for his drink his focus on opening the juice for Leon who was still trying to reach for Ben’s glass.

“She’s an amazing mother man, an amazing woman. You’re lucky.” Ben said as he reached for Leon who was starting to get bored in the highchair he was sitting in and when Leon tried to grab at Ben’s hair and cap they both couldn’t help but laugh before Ben took the cap off and let the little boy play with it. 

“She is mate.” Mason knew he was lucky. His friends had always told him that ever since the first time he had introduced you to them and soon after his family had joined in reminding him. Not like he needed a reminder tho because he knew it already. You were a super woman and now a super mum. 

Ben sent Mason a grin before turning his gaze back to the boy sitting in his lap, “your daddy is puching so hard mate. I can’t believe he even got a woman to go out with him let alone your mummy and then to get her to marry him?”Leon was giggling at him the entire time as he tried to reach for his beard. “I know mate, I can’t believe it either and if that wasn’t enough she even had a kid with him but for what it’s worth you turned out absolutely brilliant.” Mason can’t even tell him to shut up because he knows his friend is right so instead he just rolls his eyes and says, 

“Stop turning my own son against me.”

On the way back home Mason stopped by the story so he could stock up on some of your favorite snacks and some groceries he knows you use a lot of. He also got some more baby food and diapers so you wouldn’t have to do any shoping in the next couple of days, Leon was being extremely good and Mason couldn’t help but grin at two younger women who complimented how adorable his son was. Mason also stopped by a flower shop near your home and with the help of his son he picked out a few bouquets of flowers to put around the house. He knew you loved fresh flowers so he was hoping it would be a small detail that would make you smile. 

Later that day he was sitting with his phone in hand waiting for it to ring. Leon was snuggled up to his chest, one arm resting across his shoulder and the other on his chest looking for Mason’s warmth even if he had a blanket aroud him.

“Hi, my hadsome boys.” You whispered when you noticed that Leon was asleep. “Hello? you there Mase or are you busy starting at me again.”

He hummed, “maybe I am or am I not allowed to adore my wife and how sexy she looks?” He replies with a smile on his face and he just wishes he could kiss you. 

“No, go ahead. I’ll just sit here and admire you back until they call for me.”

After a short moment of silence Mason breaks your staring contest, “Fucking miss you so much, I can’t wait to hold you.” 

“I miss you too. I never told you but I was ready to book a flight home after the second day.” You had been so close but your friend had told you that you would be okay and in need of this trip so you had spent thirty minutes crying on her shoulder before deciding against it. You knew Mason wouldn’t have wanted you to go home so soon which he confirmed with his next words.

“I would have never wanted that, y/n.”

“I know, I know it was just hard. It has been the whole time but I’m happy I’ve been here. I’m also happy you got this time with Leon too.” You smiled. 

“I’m happy you did it too.” He whispered before continuing, “we spend the day with Ben today. Went for lunch and then for a walk around the park, it was really nice.” You just smiled as you hummed along while he told you about their day and he did the same when you told him about yours. When it was time to say bye Mason made sure to fliip the camera around so you could see Leon who was still sleeping soundly. What Mason didn’t know was that you would be home a lot earlier than he thought, your flight was early in the morning unlike in the evening like you had told him. You were sure you would be home before Mason had to leave to drop Leon off at Declan and Lauren’s place before his game that afternoon. You had packed everything before you and your girlfriends went for dinner that night, all of them besides you complaining about not being ready to leave but you looked at them and told them that it would be different for them too once they had children. When you got to bed that night you slept with the biggest smile on your face, hoping that Mason would be resting too.

It was as if Leon knew that his mummy was going to come home that day because he had been an angel all night. He only woke up once because he needed his bottle and to be changed.

When you arrived home that morning it was only seven and you knew Mason was still home judging by the car in the driveway. With your bags and suitcases in hand you quickly reached the door after waving goodbye to your taxi driver who had listened to you talk about Leon and Mason the whole ride. When you got in you took your jacket and shoes off and when you noticed the fresh flowers in the hall and the kitchen table you couldn’t help but smile. You made your way up the stairs carefully, trying to not make any sudden loud noises that could scare your boys. When you reached the second floor you stopped by Leon’s room first, not slightly surprised to not find him in there. You had told Mason to let him sleep in his own room so he wouldn’t get used to sleepig in your bed but you knew he would never listen to it. You don’t think you mind it tho because in the next room you find Mason still asleep, laying on his stomach with his hand resting carefully on Leon’s stomach over the blanket so Leon’s little fist can wrap itself around Mason’s thumb. You moved to Leon’s side first and leaned over the bed railing Mason had set up so you could press gentle kisses on his face, you wanted to wake him up so bad but stopped yourself. Your eyes then set on Mason who’s still peacefully sleeping as you move to his side and sit down next to him, he’s shirtless and you can’t help but lean forward so you can press a single kiss to his shoulder but he doesn’t move. Smiling to yourself you swing a leg over him and he finally starts to stirr a little at the contact and when you hear him whisper a low, “no way” you giggle a little before you lean forward so you can lay on top of him. Pressing your lips to his shoulders and anywhere your lips can reach before he’s fully awake. 

“You are absolutely mental.” Is what Mason tells you before he’s completely turned around, you’re still staddling him and a second later his arms are wrapped around your waist and yours around his neck. “God, I missed you so fucking much.”

“I missed you, so so much.” You stay like that for a few minutes just kissing his neck while you feel his hands move up and down your sides. He had missed touching you and holding you so much. Mason pulls back a little so he can look at you, your eyes, your lashes, your nose and your perfect lips that he had missed. You looked so beautiful and your sunkissed skin added a different glow to you. He leans forward so he can kiss your cheek before he moves to your nose and then forhead before he finally reaches your lips and you can’t help but giggle which makes him smile against your lips. 

When you get to take a proper look at him after your hands move up to caress his cheeks you could tell how tired he looked, his eyes unable to hide it. “You look a little rough, baby.” You said with a teasing smile on your face. 

He hums before letting out a low laugh, “it’s all I’ve been hearing for a week, thank you gorgeous.” You laugh as you press a kiss to his lips before squeezing your arms around him, having missed just hugging him. You had missed him so much and you weren’t used to being away from him for a long time, maybe a week wasn’t concidered a long time but for you it felt like a lifetime. You know he had been a little nervous about being alone with Leon even if he didn’t want to admit it but you could tell he had done an incredible job because when your eyes turn to the little boy laying besides you both he looked even more perfect and healthy than when you had left. “You did a good job Mase. Our baby looks perfect.” You pressed a kiss to his nose, admiring his freckles. “The house isnt burned down either so that’s always a good sign.”

You can’t help but laugh when he pinches your side before biting on the skin of your neck. “Greece just made you cheekier than you normally are, is that it?”

“A weekend with just girls tend to do that.” You said before resting your forhead against his as your hand moved to his hair. “Can I wake him up now?”

“He slept really good for once. It’s like he knew his mumma was going to come home.”

When you’re about to grab Leon, Mason takes your hands in his own. “Before you wake him up, I kow we have agreed to let it go and I promise I will after I say this. You’re the best mum to our son ever. You’re the strongest woman I know. You’re so insanely incredible and I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have you, you married me and sometimes I still can’t believe it.” You feel your eyes tear up a little as you lean forward so you can press a light kiss to his lips. “I know I haven’t been perfect, I’m still not but I will work every day to be the best I can for you and Leon. You’re perfect for us, every single day and you deserve nothing but the same back. This week showed me how difficult of a time you had, how difficult you still have it when I’m away.” You were about to speak and tell him to stop because it’s all forgotten but it’s Mason’s turn to press a kiss to your lips. “I promise to never mention it again after this. I just wat to say that I feel lucky to love you and be loved by you. I’ve had the best week with my little guy, the absolute best but fuck me, did I miss you and holding you and just closing my eyes for more than ten minutes.” 

“Please don’t cut yourself short Mase. You are such an amazing husband to me and you are the best daddy in the world. You’re Leon’s entire world, he loves you so much and that’s because you are icredible. I would have never wanted this life with anyone other than you. You made mine so much better, handsome.” You had talked to his mum a few times during your trip and one night she had told you that Mason had a particularly difficult night with Leon the night before. You had wanted to metion it to him and tell him that you knew he was doing an amazing job but you didn’t because he hadn’t shared it with you himself and you knew it was so you wouldn’t worry. 

“I love you.” Mason mumbles before pressing another kiss to your lips, this time deepening it before pulling away so he wouldn’t get carried away for now. “Go ahead and wake him up not, baby.” A fond smile stretches across Mason’s face as he watches you lean down so you can press a kiss against your sons cheek.

“Leon, wake up baby. Mummy’s missed you so much.” When he doesn’t wake up, even after you start to stroke his face before pressing another set of kisses to his face you laugh and turn towards Mason, “I think he just likes to annoy us, he loves his sleep in reality.” But when you turn back towards him his little brown eyes are staring straight at you and when you coo at him he reaches a hand up towards you and you grab it right away so you can press kisses against it. 

“My baby, Hi Leon, mummy has missed you so so much.” You mumble against his head before pressing kisses to it. “You been good to daddy? Hmm.” When he giggles you can’t help but laugh as you look at Mason, “he knows he’s been naughty.”

“He takes that from his mummy.” You playfully glared at him before breaking into a grin not able to stop yourself from puckering your lips asking for a kiss which Mason can’t deny you. You then turn towards Leon and bring him up to your chest as you rock him back and forward, addicted to his smile and giggle. 

“I can’t believe I haven’t held you for a week. My little bea-”

“Stop calling our son that. You hate it don’t you mate? Tell your mummy you hate that horrible nickname.” Mason mumbles while pressing kisses to his boys cheek earning him a giggle.

“You spent nine months calling him Mason Jr, you’re not allowed to criticize my choice of nicknames.” Mason couldn’t even argue with you because he knew he was right so instead he leaned back against the headboard and watched as you played with Leon. He thought you looked so good, drowning in the big sweater of his you had brought with you and thrown on. When you caught his eyes you just raised your eyebrow at him before moving closer to him so you could lean against him, head under his chin with Leon resting o your chest. 

This was what home felt like. 

“You look gorgeous. You’re absolutely glowing my darling.” Was what he whispered against your head and when you looked up at him and his tired eyes you felt like you could possibly not love anyone more, your boys were everything to you. You plant a gentle kiss to his chest before leaning up to do the same to his lips. 

“Why are you making me blush?” You feel like your face was going to fall from smiling so much. You were feeling overwhelmed with how much love you were feeling for both of your boys and the way Mason was looking at you wasn’t helping.

“What? I’m not allowed to compliment my baby mama anymore?” Mason cups your face with your hand that wasn’t holding Leon’s but you couldn’t even kiss him because you were smiling so much.

“You can, baby daddy.” 

You spend another hour in bed before Mason has to leaves for the game and with a final kiss to his lips as you promise to see him later at the game he’s out of the door after pressing some kisses to Leon’s face. You end up staying in bed cuddling Leon for another two hours after Mason leaves before you think it’s time to feed Leon and make something for yourself. After breakfast you text Mason’s mum to ask her if she could make it down, even she was surprised that you were home so early and when she made it down along with Mason’s dad you spent the afternoon at a cafe before it was time to go to the game. You felt a bit giddy, having missed watching Mason play even if you had made sure to watch the highlights of the games you missed while being away. Before the game started you had Leon standing on your thighs as he tried to bounce up and down, in his Chelsea shirt with ‘19 DADDY’ decorating his back. 

When the game was about to start and Mason stood in the middle of the pitch his eyes couldn’t help but find you and when you blew him a kiss and then reached for Leon’s arm to attempt to do he same he felt like his heart was going to explode and his face was going to split from the smile on his face. 

He was happy you were his and he was yours. He was happy you didn’t give up on him.
