grabbing my coworkers by the shoulders and shaking them vigourously: when you define a variable leave a comment saying what it is! use descriptive variable names! add some comments outlining what your big blocks of code do! make your code intelligible to others! please! god! please!

#python import statements i miss u #paper trails of where certain functions and variables come from i miss u #matlab just lets you throw around functions willy nilly no paperwork required #which is great when ur writing code #less great when ur trying to figure out someone elses code and they keep throwing out functions and you have no idea what they do #so you have to hunt them down through every use of that function to try to find where its defined #grrrrr biting and killing and ripping and violence
