i love the next idot as much as anybody (being an idiot myself), but anyone who comes to me to tell me they don't beleive or give jacksht abt the old folktales of a place need a wakeup call.
i grew up with a yaya. she was my mother's yaya, and she became mine. she put me to sleep on siesta time with the old radio crooning a forgotten 50s filipino love song and stories about the unseen. as a child, i had a genuine curiosity for what i could not see, because much to my mother's dismay, i could hear them.
as i grew older, she dissuaded me from listening to what i cannot see and i heeded her words until as of late. now i'm hearing them again, and i've figured, as long as i am respectful, hearing them would not be too much of a bother to myself or them.
so everytime i hear a whisper that seems barely there, i recall the taong hangin (wind people) my yaya told me about. when i go to my grandma's land to inspect some things, I wear an article of clothing inside out or backwards. when i feed the dogs in their dog houses near the dark i say tabi tabi po. when i pass by the tree stump we can't remove in our yard i give it a smile and pass by silently. i carry a coin everywhere for luck and if needed, to pay for passage. i help those who come to me for help (a whole entire story about a town being washed away 10+ yrs ago for not giving an old lady water).
the folk tales are alive. the volcano is living, watching over her people. the mountain sings a song with the sea every night that only if you strain your ears well enough that you can hear. there will always be the tall dark man with a dog warning residents near the volcano of its eruption. the leaves fall differently when its spirit is displeased. oh, and dwarves like sweet menthol candy.
that's abt it for now. please respect the folk tales of every barrio!

Have you ever seen a perfect cone volcano? Let me introduce to you our majestic Mayon Volcano only here in Bicol region, Albay! Did you know that you’re said to be lucky if you can see the peak of the volcano because it is rare? Usually the clouds hide the tip. The beauty itself made us fall in love day by day with its incredible symmetry✨❤️

The Cagsawa Ruins are the remnants of a 16th-century Franciscan church. Behind that is the mayon volcano, it is one of the active volcanoes in the Philippines. . . . . . #albay #philippines #touristdestination #volcano #mayonvolcano #mountmayon #cagsawaruins #ruins (at Mayon Volcano and Cagsawa Ruins) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_ckP3FAYpb/?igshid=1tw7w351g9xyy

So blessed to have seen Mayon Volcano when I travelled to Legazpi, Albay. The locals said that it's been weeks behind thick clouds. One of the magnificent sites I've seen. 'twas hiding behind clouds again when I left though. 😅

Caramoan + Mayon Trip
You only need three days and two nights to enjoy this trip. It was made easy since it was a tour package; and the coordinator is highly recommended. ;)
So, we left Manila at 9:00 in the evening and arrived in Camarines Sur in the morning, around 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning, I guess. Yes, it took us 13 to 14 hours to get to our destination since we only rode van for the trip.
As soon as we arrived, the food was served. The food was actually provided by the tour agency and I tell you, hindi tinipid at masarap yung food. The accommodation was also included in the tour package, no comment din dito, maganda sya and hindi din tinipid.
So after lunch, we went to the beach and nag-island hopping. Forgot how many islands we went to (4 or 5 i guess).  Here are some pictures:
Tumblr media
Oops, I just have one photo or this, sorry. Hee.
Anyway, after the island hopping, we went to the souvenir shop which was just close to the island. We went to the guest house after that. Of course, dinner was ready as soon as we got home and yes, still included in the package! ;)
Let’s go to the second day.
Island hopping was still there. We also did some trekking to get to the lighthouse. It was fun there, kids yung parang nag-guide samin aaand, ang galing nilang mag-take ng pictures as if they were professionals. We were amazed kasi kahit anong phone ibigay mo sakanila alam nila pano gamitin and anong tricks gagawin. Those kids were awesome.
So after trekking tuloy padin sa island hopping. Actually the lighthouse was located in an island so it was part of the island hopping so after that tuloy lang. We were given an option to snorkel if we wanted to but ayaw namin so nag-swimming nalang sa dagat.
By the way, we had our lunch sa floating cottage and sagot padin ng agency, yaaay!
So, ta-duhhh, pictures from Day 2!

So there. Let’s go to day three. The last day, we were on our way home na but there were side trips. Mayon, of course. We actually didn’t get a nice photo of the Mayon Volcano kasi nagtatago sya, huhu. Since we were saddened by it, we’ve decided na mag-ATV na hindi namin inexpect na masaya pala. We only went for Short Trail which was 300 pesos each. You can drive it if you can but if you can’t, someone can drive for you and angkas ka lang. In my case, ako na yung nag-drive tas angkas ko si bebe. That was the most fun and exciting part of the trip for me. Dun ako naging negra ng husto but it was worth it. Unlike ATV sa Ilocos na sand, sa Mayon, bato bato dadaanan mo, as in rough road. May matubig na part din which is pwede kang mabasa if you were to drive fast.
It was scary for me at first especially that my daughter was with me but I just learnt to enjoy it, and it was fun. This is a must-try for people who’s planning to visit this place. Even the people I was with, they were all matatanda na but they enjoyed the ATV coz it was awesome.
Another side trip was sa deer farm.
Photos!

Ito si mahiyaing Mayon na nagtago sa ulap.

And this was the most fun part. Even the kiddo enjoyed it.
All in all, experience was great. The tour agency was great, this 3d2n was only for 4000 pesos, and super sulit na sya. From the van na hindi punong puno, to the accommodation, to the food na di tinipid (6 meals included sa package), to the places na pinakita samin ni coordinator. Highly recommended. :)

CAGSAWA RUINS This historic site is a story of tragedy & sadness. But it is also a story of hope, and how the Filipino spirit is stronger than the destructive power of Mother Nature. At this moment I am working on a vlog that talks about tragic history of Cagsawa Church, and how the people of the Cagsawa area pulled together to build a better life for themselves in the shadow of one of mother natures most powerful places… the Mayon Volcano #cagsawa #cagsawaruins #mayonvolcano #mayon #tragedy #historyfacts #daraga #church #ancientruins (at Cagsawa Ruins) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce5TsA5O322/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
