looks around. is... is the female attraction in the room with us? or are we actually out here arguing that because he raped a woman that means he must've been attracted to her??? is that the hill you're dying on? seriously?

aside from the fucking rape on Anya (which no, I am not seriously counting as evidence, wtaf?) and the moments where he humours Daisuke's horny ass, Jimmy has not indicated that his sexuality lies one way or another. no, him harassing the woman he raped is not evidence either!

gay men are very much capable of being misogynistic creeps towards women, too, btw. just so we're all on the same page. being gay does not make you immune to being the creep that harasses women nor does it mean you cannot rape a woman. headcanoning Jimmy as gay does not, in any way, take away from the horror of what he did to Anya.

fandom misogyny would be arguing that Anya deserved it for "stealing Curly", or just straight up ignoring, pushing Anya out, and bashing on her for "getting in the way" of the yaoi ship. just shipping JimCurly does not constitute as fandom misogyny. I feel like we're cycling back to "gay ships bad bc gay" here.

Yeah that could be the case. Also possibly the fact that they’re not normal teenagers, since they’re literally Satan and a Devilman. 

Whereas the teenage characters from V0ltr0n and y0i and other anime either attend school like normal teens and are otherwise regular human beings and/or look young/their age.

You can enjoy ships/aus while also knowing the canon characters/storyline won’t change.

Should you ship something like Anya x Jimmy? No, but what am I gonna do? Stop you? No. All I can do is filter it and ignore it.

That being said I’m a fucking SUCKER for any Daisuke ship (save for Swansea) and Curly/Anya. It’s not the end of the world, surprisingly.

Also, because I want to do all these in one take, I feel like it’s important to learn a little something called the bystander effect. It’s where you see something happen but ignore it in hopes someone else will take care of it, to be short. Curly isn’t an enabler (that would imply he was encouraging and defending Jimmy when he wasn’t), he was a bystander to a degree. I say to a degree because it’s fucking pony express, and they’re all stuck in space. There aren’t a whole variety of things he could’ve done, and it’s important to know the crash was a same day delivery.

Speaking on Jimmy, I find it funny to make him cartoonishly evil sometimes but let’s not forget he isn’t some obviously malicious person. He isn’t outright abusive and awful. He genuinely believes he’s in the right, that he’s the victim, and he’s only ever awful outright if he feels threatened to some degree. I mean he crashes the ship because he was scared of facing the consequences of his actions. And the fact he lashes out at Curly over being let go.This isn’t saying anything he does is justifiable, none of it is. I’m just saying he’s got shit wrong with him that’s so interesting and realistically written that I wish people would dig more into instead of boiling him down to ‘evil rapist man who gets turned on by horses’.

Tldr:

You can have ships while knowing it won’t change canon. It’s all for shits and giggles anyways.

If you’ve got weird ones, whatever there’s a tag filter for a reason and the power of scrolling.

also Jimmy is very realistically written as an abuser, I wish to see more in depth stuff with him. Like seriously his writing is what makes him so high on my list of favorites writing wise.
