omg the love actually au ahhh!! i absolutely see seb/charles as jamie/aurelia (seb as jamie and charles as aurelia in my mind).

seb’s partner cheats on him and he plans to spend his vacation alone in a town along the france/monaco border to work on a novel. charles is his house keeper for the summer trying to save up some money for tuition or to open his own business or something of the like.

in this au we can assume charles only speaks french and seb speaks very very little french, but they end up warming to each other over their shared passion for the arts - seb draws and writes and charles plays the piano in the house and they bond of literature and film because they both love the stories even if they know them in different languages.

on the drives back to charles’ family home in monaco, seb starts to share more facts about his life with charles even though charles can’t understand what he’s saying and seb starts to try and slip in his limited french which is mostly sloppy and kind of embarrassing but charles thinks it’s cute.

when charles accidentally destroys part of seb’s manuscript in the lake he’s devastated, but seb assures him it’s okay and everything happens for a reason. they curl up on the couch in blankets and warm up by the fire and watch la bella vita (they’re pleased to know they can both understand some italian too).

they end up spending their days trading words in french and german for different household items and different every day phrases. seb learns “ce thé est excellent” because charles makes the best coffee seb’s ever had and charles learns “willst du einen pullover?” because seb always looks cold and never wears enough layers.

when they part for christmas and seb has to go back to germany to be with his family, charles kisses him and whispers “thank you, you made this summer amazing and i love you for that,” in french before rushing off.

seb can’t get charles out of his head and takes classes to learn french, unbeknownst to him charles is also taking classes to learn german.

of course it all ends with the infamous scene of seb going to charles’ family home and he walks with the leclerc family to the restaurant chalres is working at and proposes in broken french where chalres accepts in broken german.

sorry for rambling love actually is one of my fave films and i just love this au for sebchal and wanted to share my thoughts ahh <3
