Just behind the Medici fountain in the Luxembourg gardens is a little hidden fountain that people often just walk right by and don’t bother to see. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The fountain of Léda was attached to the back of the Medici fountain when it was moved during the Haussmann era. As some of you may know, my mom came to visit me at the end of October.  I had a blast showing her around Dublin (check for a post on that soon), and I was very lucky in that she wanted to do some more extensive sightseeing while she was here…so she took me with her to PARIS!!! 

Now.  Okay.  I fully believe that, as Audrey Hepburn once said, “Paris is always a good idea,” and Paris with my mother who also has a mild obsession with the City of Light? We were guaranteed to have an amazing time, and we TOTALLY DID. 

I am so lucky.  First of all, my mom and I stayed in a lovely hotel on the Rue de Rivoli, which is like a really fancy street where Angelina’s and the Hotel Maurice are.  Our room had the most beautiful and iconic view of the Musée de Louvre on one end and the Eiffel Tower on the other.  We would just kind of stand on our tiny French balcony and stare out at the scenery while taking a crazy amount of pictures on our various devices because we wanted to save the view forever.  I know that even if our pictures didn’t turn out as true-to-life fabulous as we may have wanted, I will never forget what a beautiful view we had.

We tried to visit places and see sights that we hadn’t before, and I think we did a pretty good job.  We really wanted to see the Medici Fountain in the Luxembourg Gardens, which ended up being a fantastic park.  I guess the Medici Fountain is pretty famous... and I am not surprised because it is so beautiful.  The statues are very romantic, and the foliage and flowers of fall were on a lovely display around this fountain. 

  We majorly lucked out on the weather and it was so fun for me to dress for the high 60’s mid 70’s because by November it was already starting to get COLD in Dublin.  We enjoyed the mild weather during our time at the Luxembourg Gardens by sitting on a bench, eating a crepe, and observing all of the adorable French families with their children pushing their sailboats across this other fountain.  

  Another highlight of our Paris jaunt was our day trip to see Monet’s house and garden in Giverny.  Check back for a specific post about this mini-trip outside the city.
