#meeting up with schlatt? not mentioning karlnap at ALL even though he was talking with his ex fiance?

Basically I’ve been obsessed with those fics and AUs where Karlnapity adopts Ranboo as of lately, which got me thinking about a slightly-cursed crack-taken-seriously fic idea:

The Karlnapity Parent Trap AU

Pretty much Karlnapity were like married or engaged at one point, and during this time they adopted Benchtrio. Though things don’t work out, which results in their break up. As a compromise, each takes one of the Benchtrio to raise by themself before parting ways. Quackity runs is casino in Las Nevadas, Karl works as an author in Kinoko, and Sapnap is with the Dream Team or Eggpire. Due to sad memories, they don’t like talking about their past partners, or their other sons that they never got to see grow up, preferring to avoid the topic as a whole.

Years later, Benchtrio meet by pure chance and eventually find out that they’re siblings. They collectively come up with the big-brained idea to swap places to get to meet one of their dads, then get to meet the other when they have to all meet up to swap back. This scheme eventually turns into, “Operation: get the Karlnapity back together” but there is a setback when it’s revealed Quackity is now dating either Schlatt or Wilbur, who is like the Meredith Blake of this AU.

Originally, I was thinking of doing this AU idea with Twinsduo and Phil/Kristin as the parents. I still might. Nothing is set in stone yet. Though, I’ve already seen an amazing fic on that premise, way better than anything I could ever write. Plus, I don’t want to see Phil/Kristin break up because I just want them to be happy together. Anyone who has seen my discord rambles knows I love writing Karlnapity breaking up and getting back together, so this idea works out! Besides, I’ve never seen anyone do a three-way parent trap before and believe it has some potential.

I was thinking the originally Tommy could be with Sapnap, Ranboo Karl, and Tubbo Quackity. For the swap, I had no idea who would go with who yet. None of this is for certain yet, and I’d love to hear suggestions. I could make Benchtrio triplets or have shapeshifting abilities to make the swap more believable. Or, I could play more into the crack aspect and have them be different species entirely. I think it would be funny if Ranboo showed up at Sapnap’s place, and he just doesn’t acknowledge the fact his son returned as an Enderman-hybrid, unaware that it’s really Ranboo.

Then, about side characters. Obviously each one of the fiancés has people they are close with to help out raising their son. Karl could have the Kinoko crew, Quackity the Las Nevadas gang, and Sapnap the same people I mentioned above. Then, Bad and Skeppy could be like the grandpas. Some of them could find out about Benchtrio’s swap early on and cover-up so that none of the fiancés find out. They could get on board with their plan to get the Karlnapity back together too.

I also have a couple random ideas, but not too many since this idea is still fairly new. I like the idea of giving the Benchtrio phones and then talking to each other throughout the swap. They could also give each other funny contact names so no one catches on, and there could be some funny text exchanges. Then Karl and Sapnap freaking out over every minor thing post-reveal, because they haven’t seen their ex-partners in years but have to meet up to swap them sons back. Meanwhile, Quackity is kept in the dark, even though Benchtrio lied and said that he wasn’t. So, one could imagine the chaos that happens when his exes show up at Las Nevdas unannounced along with his other sons. Then, Karl and Sapnap’s immediate jealousy when they find out about Schlatt or Wilbur.

That’s mostly me just throwing ideas out there. Please don’t hesitate to tell me your thoughts, ideas or suggestions. I’d love to hear them! I’m debating if I should end up actually writing this fic or not and add it to my ever-growing wips. Would it be something people are interested in seeing?
