Since Dexter didn't go completely bonkers in your au, does he end up running into Bob at some point
That is something I've very much considered. I haven't quite figured out how that would go, but it would be fun if that were his moment of realizing that he doesn't like these kids but he doesn't really want to see them get murdered by a serial killer either. Also hey free excuse to stab someone and not feel immense guilt.
Skid and Pump only see Bob at the very end, so maybe Dexter notices Bob following them and tries to suggest that mayyybe should go home right exactly now, but they wouldn't listen.
Who would win: one cannibal serial killer or one possessed doll desperate to retain the tiny bit of stability he has in his cursed life.

Smth I think is funny about Borrowed Time is that Dexter is looking for ways to revive his body, yet unknown to him his body is still technically alive because Moloch is possessing it, so he'd need an exorcist and not a necromancer
Yeah getting Dexter back into his body is a whole mess that I haven't figured out at all, which is funny because it's the logical end point of the story. Then again, I hate writing endings.
From what I know of the lore his body is alive, in some aspects, but it's so fucked up by Moloch that it can hardly be called a human body anymore. If it gets exorcised maybe it'd go back to normal, but it also might not. The question of whether or not his body is even viable for repossession is just all over the place and I need to make a flowchart. Give me like twenty minutes I'll get back to you on that one.
But yeah, he's kind of trying to cast as wide a net as possible in his research because he really doesn't have the foggiest clue what's going on. All he knows is what he saw after his soul got violently transplanted by another, and that was a lot of body horror and then his neck got snapped. So maybe he's dead? But it's also a demon, surely it wouldn't be killed that easily. But who's he to make that assumption, maybe they are. He saw a lot, but he doesn't know what to make of any of it. Writing his perspective will be very interesting because he's working with both a lot of information and very little information because he has absolutely no idea what he's dealing with. He just wanted to catch a rat.

I feel like even after Dexter gets his body back he'd be forced to live with Lila, considering his house/apartment was likely sold off to someone else given how long he was gone
Though given he's around other people at least they can remind him to eat and sleep before passes out from exhaustion
That's something I've thought of, and you're definitely right. Some missing posters may still be up, but he's been gone long enough to be assumed dead, and there's no use holding the spot of a probably dead person. Even if he did somehow still have a home to go back to, Lila would insist he stay because of the concerns you mentioned. He's fucked up physically and mentally and that isn't really the time you want to leave someone on their own. But yeah he doesn't have a place to go back to so all the more reason to stay where he is.
Oog, unrelated but that makes me think of the amount of police questioning he's going to go through. It's pretty rare for missing people to suddenly reappear after years; they'd have a lot of questions.

I'm imagining in Borrowed Time Susie comes across Dexter covered in blood, but mistakes it for paint and thinks Pump got into her art supplies again
ARGH okay I had a comic for this in the works but I'm no longer in a place where I can finish it, so I'm just going to say that yes this absolutely happens and I am absolutely making it a plot point. Dexter is darn lucky that the Happy Fellas are hand-wash only or he'd be screwed.

personally i would've preferred if the collector stayed to fix the mess they've made and help rebuild the isles. it would've been a great way for them to do that growing up that he needed to do. and it's unclear what "going back to the stars" means exactly but it seems like the only two options are that the collector is just alone again or they're going back to their siblings and i don't think either is a very good option. but that's just me
I really doubt they'd ever go back to their siblings considering what happened (I can see a potential conflict in the future now that they're free, though), but I do have to agree with people's concerns about them being along again. It was definitely a very interesting way to conclude (well, loosely conclude) the story of a character who was horribly tragically alone for like hundreds of years or something.
My take on it is that he just needed some distance for a little while, on his terms. Them having a lot of growing up to do is a decent reason - although Collectors/Archivists probably live a long time I wouldn't be surprised if he was severely stunted due to his time in the In-Between. He just had a whole new dimension of morality and existence opened up to him, and that would take some time to process. He wants and needs to learn, and the Boiling Isles might not be the best place to do that right now. What with the horrors.
At the same time, though, I agree that it would have been good if they'd stayed behind and repaired some of the damage that they caused. Though, if I remember correctly it was implied that they did do that? At the very least they freed everyone, and it's kinda hard to say how much of their game was an actual physical change vs. weird magic reality warping that can be reversed in a snap. I'd have to rewatch the ending.

I like how you draw Happy Fella (both the doll and the character) with lil eyelashes. It's cute!
Thank you! I figured giving the dolls little eyelashes and blush would make them look more saccharine, for better or for worse. Like, given the aesthetic of the Happy Fella I feel like they'd at least try to make him cute (even if for some people that circles right back around to being creepy).

ok so figuratively lets just say the hexsquad + hunter enter luz's (and the collector's) mind, how would they react?
Oo I've actually considered this! It's one of the possibilities for them finding out about the Collector.
If I go down this route, then Luz does something big that can't be explained away by sun exposure. Since she isn't explaining what's wrong, the others decide to go into her brain in a last-ditch effort to get to the truth, likely against her will/without her knowledge. Which is a little fucked but dw that's acknowledged. I hadn't decided who would go in when I first had this idea, but I'm not sure it would be a good idea to send that many people into someone's brain. Or maybe it doesn't matter, I'm no mindscape expert. Amity's kind of a shoo-in given her previous experience, but I digress. If you go back to the post I made about mindscapes, that pretty much explains what they see. Nothing looks out of place until they meet up with the inner Luz, who looks something like this.
Tumblr media
So yeah obviously something's off. The inner Luz is hesitant to explain what's going on, but eventually relents and agrees to lead them to the "problem area", since they clearly aren't going to accept anything less. They're then lead to the Collector's side of the mindscape, and from there they need to travel alone. This isn't ideal when they eventually meet the inner Collector. He's not hostile, but he's about thirty feet tall (bc the sizeshifter Collector headcanon is very important to me) and not super happy about them being there. They aren't supposed to be. At that point they decide they've seen just about enough and hoof it out of there to relay what they learned. Which isn't actually much but it's enough for everyone to start freaking out, which kind of forces Luz to be honest about things.
I'll probably make more art for this path because it's pretty interesting and I like it a lot, I'm just not sure where to fit it in exactly.

yo idk if u already answered this but do u have any theories/predictions about what will happen in season 3 regarding collector or king ? or what is a satisfying endgame scenario for our beloved collector? im rly hoping for a more creative and interesting outcome than the gang putting him back in the prison again
Honestly? I hope that King is actually able to forge a connection with the Collector. I've seen several people talk about S3 possibilities and I agree with them that there's no logical way the hexsquad can overpower the Collector, and putting him back in a mirror just. Doesn't feel right at this point. We don't know what they were even put away for to begin with, and locking them in the in-between forever seems like it just made things worse. Besides, if I'm right than the Titan Trappers' disc shows that the Collector was imprisoned and got out once before. I don't think I'd trust them putting him in a beast ball again and going "third time's a charm!", y'know?
In any case, I think it would be cool to see King actually connect with the Collector on some level, learn about their past and try to help them be a better person. Like, I want King to try to explain to the Collector that if they want real friends they need to be mindful of other people and all that. Maybe through the Owl House "game" King can subtly get the Collector to play nicer, putting rules in place that keep the people of the Isles safe and relatively healthy. As chaotic as the Collector is, I personally see them as being very serious about following the rules of a game. I might be wrong in that assumption though, so I guess we'll see haha.
Another thing I think would be really cool would be if they somehow got into the Collector's mindscape. Since they can't overpower him, maybe they could reason with him through that. Plus it would be cool to see some of the Collector's memories (though the Collector themself might not be so keen on that).
For both of these trains of thought I have some very specific concepts that I'd like to write/illustrate sometime. With the new season coming in October, I guess I have plenty of time to do that.

If Eda and the others foubd out that the collector is stuck in Luz’s head. What would happen.
Would collector be afraid of being sealed away again.
Utter panic. It would take quite a bit of talking down from Luz to convince the others, especially Eda, that no guys this is fine yes it's kind of like a curse no it's not like that the collector's just kind of annoying please calm down
And yeah, the Collector's fear of going back to square one AGAIN is what makes them frantically convince Luz not to tell anyone in the first place. They don't know if the people Luz lives with have the resources to put them back, but they're not willing to take that chance.
