ive been Thinking... lately... a lot but especially abt that anon ming got abt contom baking bread together (unless i hallucinated that post).. tom rly needs quiet play time. idk abt how posh i want to make him be but let's say he used to help his mom around in the kitchen as a kid so he knows what he's doing and he's kneading the dough like >:P and connor is just. this is a man who knows his bread. and maybe he's got a bit of flour on his cheek and his shirtsleeves are rolled up and he's actually so much more tolerable when he's not speaking? peace and love on planet earth

in general i think connor has a very high tolerance for bullshit because his younger siblings are weirdos so every time tom is like Hoohoohoo here's a joke ive been rehearsing in my head for 3 hours he's like. okay buddy. tom wants to be likeable so much and he doesn't realise at first that he doesn't have to Be Funny around connor (who's also a little insane just like him <3) and he slowly learns to let go and just be with connor and enjoy their time together

oh and mondale!!! idk how much of a dog person connor is but he likes mondale and they take long walks together. mondale knows how to sit and give his paw and roll and connor is very impressed

ok hi hope you don't mind a commentary but the ask you got made me think! i feel like roman and gerri’s storyline is a genuine addition to the main story, given how much she has been impacting his personal growth for the past two seasons. the show might be at a point where they could end their plotline but i honestly don’t think that’s going to happen! there’s a lot of room for development right now, their situation is pretty delicious and imo the writers are fools if they won’t focus even a little bit on roman and gerri’s changed dynamic. gerri’s not a family member but she offers that little outsider’s view to the whole mess despite being fully tangled in it herself too. gerri is also arguably a very popular character, not to mention the fact they already have approximately 1.5 female characters so it’d also be very dumb of them to not continue with the plot.

oh no please jump in! i totally agree with your points...and also thank you for reminding me of a point i meant to include in my last answer – gerri isn't family...but isn't she? she's shiv's godmother and she's arguably logan's most trusted ally (in rewatching season 1, the pilot is meant to make you give that title to frank but then they spend the rest of season 1 showing logan's reliance on gerri specifically – she's at his right-hand position during vote of no confidence, she's his spy and then surrogate at shiv's wedding, he literally likes and values her more than the other c-suite folks). i think that alone is enough to legitimize her as folded into the family when it comes to our central story...add in her very complicated relationship with roman in s2 & s3 and we do really have a lot of ground left to cover going forward 👀

yes! that jumped out to me from the official succession podcast (on my main pre-sideblog 💀) and even at the time i found the way they decided that they couldn't have that be part of roman's whole thing like...a little dismissive? i was actually really glad they seemed to have circled back to it in season three (the trainer jerk off sessions anecdote coming back, the homoerotic bathroom scenes) and i hope they continue to peel back the layers of that part of his characterization in season four, especially given the way logan (and shiv and everyone) was hammering home his psychosexual problems in the last two episodes of season three.

oooh thank you for this tidbit! that makes a lot of sense for where season 1 ends with tabitha (his WILD marriage proposal after only knowing her for a week lol) and i could see in hindsight how they made that hand off in 2x03 (by having gerri step in and literally say "don't get your business advice from tabitha when i'm right here")...i did love tabs and thought she was a good and fun partner for roman, but god i can't imagine that season 2 storyline playing out with anyone other than gerri/j

top 5 kendall moments?

thanks for the ask! these are more like the first 5 moments that sprang to mind bc every kendall scene is my favourite scene when i'm watching it lol. in no particular order:

that scene in too much birthday where he's growing progressively more agitated looking for the only meaningful gift at the whole party and you can tell that he's bet the house on it. where he's suddenly, visibly convinced that if he doesn't find it then this was all for nothing bc somewhere along the way it's been decided that this overhyped nightmare of a party is not ending well unless he finds that gift. and then he doesn't. 🙃

the opening scenes of s02e01 where he has to pull himself together for a very complicated live tv interview and he's trying to emotionally package the past week and organise it into something that he can function with but blood is literally pouring out of him from the effort. and then the interview still goes really well bc he is nothing if not good at compartmentalisation under pressure.

that scene in safe room where he cries on shiv's shoulder, where she pushes just the right buttons for him to admit to another person that his life is over and that he's completely unmoored. even if he can't tell her anything, not really, still being able to communicate the despair that he's feeling. that was really good.

the chiantishire logan and kendall face-off where kendall's finally reached some kind of peace with just letting his dad win and settling for just being able to leave, only to then discover that no loss is humiliating enough to satisfy his father's hunger to see him at his weakest and he will never be allowed to leave on his own terms, no matter his level of debasement.

also, i haven't really seen anyone else talk about it but one of the final scenes in vaulter really stuck with me. he's explaining to his dad how well he's dismantled vaulter, his baby, the company he had acquired to usher in a new age of waystar royco back when he thought he was going to be ceo, and logan is so impressed by kendall's sacrifice and submission that he snubs shiv and roman and he gives kendall a space in his own office. it's just so... like, that whole office is supposed to be kendall's, he was groomed to be ceo until that was taken away. and now vaulter's just been taken away as well. he's lost his sobriety. he took a life and then his father's cover-up took away his ability to ever get closure for what he did. and now his dad has him metaphorically in the mail room, pretending it's a very important position when it's really just a little cage and his siblings are upset bc they wish they were in the cage instead.

the scene's very understated but it hit me really hard. logan asked him if he was comfortable and he gave the shakiest nod in the world and it was such a quiet little moment of misery. i like the scenes where anyone could tell he's having a bad time but i also like the small ones where out of context you might find it confusing that he seems so sad to be granted a higher position in the company.

best moment of the year was probably when i took a solo cross country trip from oregon to virginia to move back with family!! specifically driving through nevada in the summer with the windows down and music blasting and it was sooo warm and the mountains were so pretty and no one could complain about my music because literally nobody lives in nevada so i could listen to talking heads road to nowhere on repeat for 400 miles <33

unrequited love is one thing but being in a relationship - married - to a person who doesn't love you is heartbreaking. i've been thinking about shiv and how she feels about tom, i don't love you but i love you, and her capacity for love - and i still don't know where i stand. i think she likes being loved, and she is genuinely fond of him - he wants what's best for him, and at least in s1 actively tries to get him included, - but mostly it's just a thing of convenience. she doesn't really know how to care for people. tom's gradual breakdown in s3 and her being uncomfortable with it, not knowing how to react... tom always gives and shiv doesn't know how to give back

as for tom, shiv genuinely makes him happy, until she doesn't. at a certain point it stops being enough for him, because no matter how much love you pour into a relationship, it can't function if it's one-sided. in the beginning it's all he can think about, proposing, getting married, but slowly he gets disillusioned. i think it's a very hard thing to come to terms with, and he's slowly been working up to it ("i don't know if the sad i'd be without you would be less than the sad i get from being with you", the rock analogy, fucking nero pushing his wife down the stairs), resulting in his betrayal in the finale. it's a quiet sort of tragedy and very anticlimactic. a slow accumulation of small hurts. but he starts out fiercely in love with her, almost obsessively

i don't know where they're going to go with it in s4 - i don't think they would divorce, partly because tom still wants the power and the money that comes with being a roy, partly because shiv dislikes acknowledging her emotions and it's easier to push it down than open the floodgates. i kind of want them to be miserable in a loveless marriage, and the idea of tom getting revenge <3
