Hello Mini Musez! My Peking Opera - Mei Lanfang Portrait is going on exhibition from Dec 9th until December 23rd at the Core Art Space in Denver. Juror Susan Froyd selected the pieces for this unique show which features art inspired by comics, anime, tattoos, graffiti, and the unusual. Any art gallery or show that exhibits fanart should be supported by us all. Fan artist still struggle to sell & get fanart mainstream so I am hoping you all can help. Especially since many of my amazing followers are incredible non traditional artists so you know first hand how difficult it is to get accepted. I watched The Moon Opera in Meilanfang Grand Theatre,Taizhou,Jiangsu Province on 11th.The show was very fantastic and impressing.I immersed myself in this wonderful performance. The drama is based on a novel by the same name by Bi Feiyu,a Chinese writer,which tells a story of Xiao Yanqiu who is playing the lead in the classic Chinese opera Flying to the Moon, The Moon Opera is a dance drama in which Chinese traditions and contemporary endeavors complement each other in the manner of Yin and Yang. It leads to a sense of harmony between the extreme, contrasting emotions of jealousy, love and rejection beautifully expressed within the piece, through high-voltage, fiery, theatrical moments. The Moon Opera tells a story of a Peking Opera performer constantly struggling living in her spiritual world, being indulged in total enjoyment of aestheticism of it and living in her real life full of jealousy, hatred and harsh realities facing her as a wife to her husband she found in despair rather than in love. It’s about all contradictions a woman would easily find them in in todays’ world. The heroine as much dedicated to arts could only find in her performance a salvation, a cure, and an asylum.

I’ll say yes and non. yes, influenced by communism époque, certain répertoire sounds non attractive to Chinese young ears neither. the context brutal, the rhythm military-like rigid, the performers have Potemkine acting... my god, light and truth didn’t manifest by that sort of art activity. and non, tracing back to 5000 years historical Chinese culture, there are plenty of poems/songs affectionate but unknown by countries and ppl outside of China mainland. admiring the beauty of nature, longing to freedom, true love between a man or a woman, praise the diligence of working class, yearning to mother and hometown, hope abundance even though in downside of life etc etc. to me that’s beautiful. lack of understanding among cultural differences or Western egoism mightbe the reasons that we Chinese and Belgians find each other quite ‘special’.
