As for why Big Leo was not there, funny thing is him showing up there in the first place was already weird enough of a scenario. Mikey saved him accidentally from his time, but now that Big Leo is no longer in that spot in that time... theres not really a Big Leo there to save

SO. I was originally planning on making a comic about this but oohhh boy my poor motivation and energy can only focus on so much whoops.

About 10ish years into the second apocalypse, he left the homebase with Cass to explore what was left of the world before that was all gone too.. (being around... in another apocalypse..??? with just younger turtles he knew prior????? very weird for the poor guy, he kinda needed an out of that)

Karjalan kannaksen Koivistolla tapahtui erikoinen episodi jo maaliskuussa – eli pian sen jälkeen, kun Venäjä oli hyökännyt Ukrainaan ja aloittanut siellä väitetyn erikoisoperaationsa ”natseja” vastaan. Koiviston suomalaiselta sankarihautausmaalta oli poistettu tuolloin yhdessä yössä suomalaissotilaiden nimilaatat ja muistomerkin pääpaaden teksti oli peitetty.

Koiviston sankarihautausmaan kohtaloa on selvitelty sittemmin Viipurin kaupunginoikeudessa kaikessa hiljaisuudessa yksinomaan venäläisten viranomaisten kesken. Oikeudessa on tehty jo syyskuussa päätös, jonka mukaan ”suomalaisten natsisotilaiden” muistomerkki pitää purkaa ja poistaa kokonaan ”luvattomana kiinteänä rakennelmana”. Viipurin kaupunginoikeuden päätös on syntynyt syyskuussa ilman, että Venäjältä olisi oltu sitä ennen yhteydessä sen paremmin Suomen Koivisto-Seuraan kuin myöskään Sotavainajien muiston vaalimisyhdistykseen.

IS sai perjantaina käsiinsä Viipurin kaupunginoikeuden päätöksen. Se ei ole vielä lainvoimainen, vaan se etenee seuraavaksi Leningradin alueen alueoikeuden käsittelyyn. Tuomioistuimen ratkaisusta käy ilmi, että Venäjällä on kehitetty väite, jonka mukaan Koiviston sankarihautaan haudatut suomalaissotilaat osallistuivat Leningradin piiritykseen ja taistelivat jopa saksalaisen SS-Nordin riveissä. Venäjällä väitetään lisäksi, että Koivistoon olisi haudattu suomalaisen ”natsiarmeijan” sotilaita ja että hautamuistomerkin teksti pyrkisi tekemään näistä sankareita sekä levittämään natsi-ideologiaa.

Suomen ja Venäjän välillä on voimassa vuonna 1992 solmittu valtiosopimus, joka velvoittaa kumpaakin osapuolta suojelemaan ja hoitamaan toistensa alueilla olevia toisen maailmansodan aikaisia hautoja ja niiden muistomerkkejä. Sotavainajien muiston vaalimisyhdistys on Suomen puolelta sopimuksen toteuttaja, ja Venäjän puolelta toimielin on nimeltään Voennye memorialy.

Suomalaisia sotilaita koskevat natsiväitteet löytyvät Viipurin kaupunginoikeuden päätöksestä, jossa ne esitetään ikään kuin olemassa olevina historiallisina faktoina tai asioina, joihin oikeuden ei tarvitse ottaa enää sinänsä kantaa.

– Koiviston sankarihaudoissa ei tiedetä lepäävän minkäänlaisia natseja. Venäläinen oikeusistuin ei näytä myöskään esittävän tämän natsiväitteen tueksi mitään todistusaineistoa, eversti evp. Pertti Suominen ihmetteli.

Muistomerkkiä koskeva purkamismääräys perustellaan oikeuden päätöksessä varsinaisesti erilaisilla muotoseikoilla, joiden mukaan suomalaishaudan kunnostaminen olisi tehty ilman asianmukaisia rakennuslupia. Päävastuu purkamisesta vieritetään Korisstroi-nimiselle yritykselle, joka toimi suomalaishaudan kunnostuksen venäläisenä urakoitsijana vuonna 2019.

– Ottaen huomioon jutun käsittelyn aikana kerätyt ja tutkitut todistusaineistot, Korisstroin pystyttämä muistomerkki ja natsiarmeijan sotilaiden nimet sisältävät muistolaatat on purettava kirkon kulttuuriperintökohteessa. Monumentti on pyhitetty fasistisen Saksan puolella Suuressa isänmaallisessa sodassa 1941–1945 taistelleille ja kaatuneille suomalaisille sotilaille, jotka ovat muun muassa ottaneet osaa Leningradin piiritykseen, lukee oikeuden perusteluissa vapaasti suomennettuna.

Oikeuden mukaan Korisstroi on pystyttänyt muistomerkin ilman, että siihen on hankittu tarvittavat luvat. Koivisto-Seuran puheenjohtaja Eija Tuominen ihmettelee oikeuden tulkintaa, sillä hautausmaan kunnostuksen aikana lupia hankittiin hänen tietääkseen useilta eri venäläistahoilta. Leningradin alueen suunnittelutoimisto oli mukana kunnostuksessa ja teki sitä varten tarvittavan venäläisen arkkitehtisuunnitelman. Primorskin kaupungin hallinnon edustaja oli Tuomisen mukaan puolestaan se, joka ehdotti Korisstroita kunnostuksen suorittajaksi.

Tuomisen mukaan suomalaishaudan kunnostaminen tuli maksamaan kaikkineen noin 75 000 euroa. Sankarihauta oli jäänyt Venäjällä täysin oman onnensa nojaan ja hävitetty jatkosodan jälkeen, joten Koivisto-Seura päätti kunnostaa haudan omalla kustannuksellaan vuonna 2019 keräämällä siihen varat suomalaisilta yrityksiltä ja Koiviston entisiltä asukkailta sekä heidän jälkeläisiltään.

Koiviston sankarihautaan on haudattu ja siunattu talvi- ja jatkosodassa kaatuneita, Koivistolla syntyneitä sotilaita. Nimilaattoihin oli kaiverrettu yhteensä 102 suomalaisen sankarivainajan nimet. Koivisto-Seuralla ei ole tietoa, mitä on tapahtunut maaliskuussa poistetuille nimilaatoille ja missä niitä kenties säilytetään.

Sankarihautojen historiaa selvitelleet Tuominen ja Juhani Pekkola ovat erityisen loukkaantuneita väitteistä, että haudoissa lepäisi ”suomalaisia natseja”.

– Siellä lepää tavallisia koivistolaisia – talonpoikia, työmiehiä, merimiehiä, opiskelijoita ja opettajia, jotka puolustivat kotiseutujaan. Neuvostoliitto oli elokuussa 1939 liittoutunut natsi-Saksan kanssa. Talvisodan sankarivainajat kävivät siten sotaa niin stalinismia kuin fasismiakin vastaan, koska heidät oli siihen Neuvostoliiton hyökkäyksellä marraskuussa 1939 pakotettu, Pekkola muistutti.

Kun hauta-aluetta kunnostettiin, Koivisto-Seura toimitti Venäjän viranomaisille virkatodistukset jokaisesta hautaan siunatuista 102 sotilaasta. Jo tuolloin Venäjällä oli esitetty epäilyjä, että alueelle olisi haudattu ”joitakin muita henkilöitä”, kuten esimerkiksi saksalaisia sotilaita.

Viipurin kaupunginoikeuden purkumääräyksessä lukee, että se astuu voimaan vasta, kun Leningradin alueen alueoikeus on vahvistanut sen. Päätöksestä voi valittaa sen jälkeen vielä kuukauden sisällä. Jos purkumääräys saa lainvoiman, se on pantava toimeen sen jälkeen kahden kuukauden kuluessa.

There are times in the morning when I look at the mirror and say: wow, you are beautiful.

It not only happens there; it follows me to the kitchen, when I am deciding what to eat for breakfast and decide on healthy food; it follows me to the bathroom, when I look at myself at the mirror again after washing my face with cold water and seeing the little pimples on my cheeks or my birthmark that covers all my left eye and a bit more; it follows the path of the comb as I tame my long hair that, sometimes, I wish was a little more straight and a little less long; it follows me as I clean around my room and relocate that mess of a bookshelf, watching that book of Dostoyevsky I know I have to read or that copy of The Odyssey I have to return.

If I am lucky, it follows me to the kitchen at afternoon when I am washing the silverware and I am singing a city pop song I had heard the day before while scrolling through YouTube; it follows me to the bedroom when I am translating some latin text or when I am deciding to write that fanfiction I have been wanting to write for decades.

It sometimes follows me to my writing, too, when I am watching the fated Google Document where I know I will write, one way or other. It follows me when I am reading the things I have wrote, and when I like it, and when I share it.

It follows when I look at my surrounding and I see the beautifulness of the things that on a bad day I swear they are not beautiful at all.
