Different types of stones reflect light differently but so do different CUTS of stones!

Half the fun of wearing a gemstone is seeing how it plays in the light! Does it flash fire? Sweep colour? Own a subtle glow?

These are important considerations for designing jewellery but also something to consider when wearing it.

Sterling silver and black onyx trillion earrings 🖤

This design is pretty special to me. Trillions are basically my signature stone and the shape I just connect with best (if that makes any sense) There is so much symbolism in triangles and things that come in threes. Trillion stones can easily slot into whatever you need at any point in your life. Past-present-future, child-adult-elder, fight-flight-freeze, positive-negative-neutral. Whatever you need it to mean when you need it.

Another repair: this time a moonstone ring that was 1. In pieces. 2. The stone was pretty scratched up 3. Needed to be resized. Once the ring was apart we also decided on a few design changes.

Amethyst drops 💜 I love the variation of purple you can get from amethysts! Dark deep purple, vibrant bright purple, soft light purple and occasionally a rainbow inside ✨

I’ve been really sad and possibly burnt out this past few weeks. I have so many projects and ideas that I want to work on but finding the energy for them was getting harder and harder. So I stopped beating myself up for not doing all the things and gave myself permission to calm down. To do what was necessary but not push to do more. Not everyone can afford a ‘proper vacation’ but even allowing yourself to do just what NEEDS to get done and let yourself off the hook for everything else feels like a vacation when you’re stressed and depressed. Now if only it hadn’t taken me three weeks to figure that out ... 🤦‍♀️ This ring is a reminder to take the time you need. Calm the crazy that sometimes bubbles up in your chest and look at your situation with detachment. Figure out a plan from there. We’re made of tough stuff. I love things that are formed and grown in tough conditions. You’ve probably heard that diamonds are formed under pressure, but nearly ALL gem stones are formed in the earth under pressure and with changing conditions and shifting earth and breaking and coming back together in new and beautiful ways 💚💙

Some work in progress! I weirdly love making domes. The combination of good prep and whacking things with hammers 🔨 is very satisfying to me.

I am so ready for colour again. It’s March and I’ve been staring out into the endless grey of winter for long enough. I want reds and yellows and greens and purples again! My jewellery projects have started to reflect that desire. Thank god for coloured stones!

Just cleaning up a pretty garnet heart ring ❤️ I purchased these stones years ago. To be honest I avoided using them because they are a difficult shape to set and I wasn’t super confident in my stone setting skills. But with lots of practice and some confidence I’m ready to take a stab at it again. They’re late for Valentine’s Day but I think hearts are also a year-round thing. Especially if they’re simple and sweet. The intention is always there. Love and be loved.

By the end of a good repair job it always feels a little bit like finding buried treasure. Taking something valuable but unusable, and making it ✨beautiful and useful again✨ This ring came to me bent out of shape and needing to be resized. This is part of my job I really love! Nobody could wear a ring that was so bent up, but the owner couldn’t wear it too big anyways. The stones didn’t sparkle like they were meant to and it likely sat in a drawer for ages. It’s pretty enough to look at but can’t live up to its potential! It can’t be worn like it’s meant to. Now it catches the light and reflects beautiful colours as it’s worn.

I’m gonna say it: sometimes I love all the pink, the flowers, and the special moments that come with Valentine’s Day. I know the day can be polarizing for people, and while I am personally opposed to the pressure to ‘have someone’ for the day. I DO like the idea of setting aside time to spend with people you care about. I’m loving the Galentines day trend, and the self care trends that I’m seeing lately. No pressure just loving people and feeling loved💕

Tourmaline comes in such brilliant pink colour! 💖 this cabochon has such depth to it like it’s own little world. I paired it with ornamental lettuce and clover. Because this ring has a secret little bunny design on the back 🐇

This is the time of year when people are coming out of their Christmas comas, taking stock of the last year and setting intentions for the new one. This year I want to be more kind, use my voice, be more curious. What do you want to be this year??

I did some shopping this week...in person!!It was high time I got a new crucible for silver only. I’m sure there are easier ways to prepare them but my way is pretty fun😊 you can see how porous the new one is in the first picture (compared to the old one!) melting silver in that would be not a great idea 🙃
