A modern AU featuring college Everlark & secret dating (reblog)

In response to an anonymous tumblr ask for a drabble with a promt for: “Katniss rooms with Johanna and while Johanna is looking for something in Katniss' room, she sees the used condom in the trash and calls up the gang (Finnick, Annie, Gale, and Peeta (even though unbeknownst to the rest of them it was Peeta she has been sleeping with) to figure out who Katniss had over the prior night.

Johanna tap-taped the spike heel of her black mesh stiletto ankle boots on the tile of her and Katniss’ shared bathroom. Last night had been one hell of a rager at the frat house she’d ventured to solo and she’d gotten back just in time to beat the morning rush of walk of shamers that were currently filing down the halls in still slightly hungover embarrassment.

Johanna didn’t do embarrassment though, or shame.

She had woken up before the sun, popped two emergency aspirin from her purse, downed a bottle of water from the dorm room mini fridge, pulled her LBD back on and left a congratulatory note for the cute frat boy who managed to keep up with her for half the night despite the copious amount of tequila they had both shot at the party. She had done this all with an air of confidence and a self satisfied smile.

Sex was enjoyable. Therefore she enjoyed it. No caveats, no regrets (unless the guy was terrible), and absolutely no awkwardness.

It was their junior year of college after all. Now was the time to explore their sexual limits. Test the boundaries while their bodies were still young enough to bounce back from being tied up and screwed within an inch of their lives before waking up the next day and passing that exam on advanced economics.

At least that’s what she was always telling her friends Annie, Madge, and Katniss.

The whole sexual freedom speech had fallen on deaf ears though until six months ago, when Annie started hooking up with their university’s soccer team golden boy, Finnick. Now she finally had someone to trade sexual exploit stories with.

That Finnick is a freak in the sheets. Johanna thought amusedly as she stripped off her clothes and started to run the shower. She grabbed a pack of makeup removing wipes and gingerly started to clean her day old makeup off.

At least one of her friends had heeded her advice and started to branch out sexually. Johanna was proud of the work she had done with Annie. The girl had real potential to let her freak flag fly if she stuck with Finnick long enough to learn the ropes.

Her other two friends on the other hand….

Johanna sighed and shook her head at her reflection in the mirror. Madge wasn’t so bad. She was a little sexually repressed having grown up as the only child of a wealthy politician. She had lived most her life under a microscope, and she was just barely learning to let go of some of her deeply rooted inhibitions. She’d recently started to embrace the idea of casual hook ups and had even shared the last time they had a girl’s night that she’d gotten down and dirty with her casual guy in the back of the library.

Way to go Madge. Having sex in public places was a real show of progress for daddy’s little princess. She wasn’t completely liberated, but she was getting there.

Now the only one left was Fort Knox, A.K.A. Katniss Everdeen, who guarded her vagina more securely than the U.S. government guarded their gold bullion reserves. Johanna wasn’t even sure if Katniss had ever gotten laid. She was that tight lipped about the whole thing. Every time sex came up she put on a nasty little scowl and excused herself to the kitchen, or bathroom, or conveniently remembered some test she had to study for.

Johanna had been trying to crack her for years. Ever since the first week they moved in together freshman year and Katniss had almost peed her pants when she accidently opened Johanna’s box of sex toys while she was helping her new roomate unpack.

The look on the poor girl’s face when she saw the collection of vibrators, dildos, anal beads and nipple clamps was priceless. Like a tiny little lamb catching the first glimpse of the way lamb chops were made.

Johanna was starting to wonder if Katniss would ever find someone to connect with other than her platonic friends. She wasn’t just sexually repressed. She was emotionally unavailable too. She had a hard time letting people in. Johanna worried might die as an old maid if something didn’t change soon. Johanna tsked under her breath as she threw the used makeup wipes in the bathroom trash can, but she stopped before turning toward the shower.

A flash of gold color in the trashcan caught her eye.

Johanna knelt down to get a better look.

Holy mother of all shattered expectations. Johanna thought as she grabbed the roll of TP and proceeded to wrap her hand in several layers before she dug through the contents of the trash receptacle.

Used condom foil packets. Two of them. Along with (ew) two used condoms, sat mixed in with the usual array of makeup wipes, q-tips, and beauty product wrappers. Johanna avoided the used condoms but with surgeon-like precision she fished the condom wrappers out and made her way back into the main room so she could grab a zip lock bag.

After she had preserved the evidence she grabbed her cell and proceeded to send off multiple rapid fire messages on the group text thread. Then she climbed in the shower and scrubbed down in record time.

Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Fire Island Character Comparisons (2/3)

Mr. Bingley

onto our mr. bingley's. honestly charlie is cute but boring and quite dumb, whereas bings naivety is explained as a lack of confidence in his judgment and too trusting of the people closest to him. charlie fell flat, despite his great chemistry with howie. bing was indecisive because he was searching for himself and wasn't able to trust his own judgment, giving him more depth. charlie felt rather shallow. and i totally judge him for having a vapid, racist boyfriend. i understood bing while i found most of charlies choices infuriating and dumbfounding. charlie is probably my biggest issue with the movie, character wise that is.

Mr. Collins

both mr collins were vastly different, lbd's collins being misguided and annoying but more sympathetic, like an energetic and overenthusiastic puppy. seeing charlotte handle him is rewarding, a working relationship that was imbalanced and becomes more functional is an interesting arc for both characters, helping enrich charlotte's story. fire island's mr collins (aka the *cringe* rice queen) is just horrible and he is there to show us howie isnt in a good place and leads to a beautifully heartbreaking scene between howie and noah. fi mr collins is there to emphasize the racism of the setting and dehumanizes both noah and howie, while lbd mr collins has more of an arc and more well meaning. he is acknowledging both lizzie and charlottes skills by his business proposal. their function is completely different, and deliver vastly different messages and interpretations of mr collins. therefore, it does not feel fair to compare them as they execution is so vastly different and meant to be interpreted in vastly different ways.

Mr. Wickham

both george and dex served their purpose of initial charm and eventual horribleness. the key differences were in their relationships with lydia and luke. i found the climax of dex's demise more satisfying because we saw will and noah confront him. it was a triumphant moment in the narrative and as a watcher. but the emotional weight of georges betrayal hit harder because there was more build up to the betrayal and the fall out of lydias relationship with him. seeing lydia fall in love with wickham and seeing him use and manipulate her. .. . watching lydia breakdown still wrecks me after all this time. but again, the web series had more time to develop the characters and relationships than the movie. ultimately, i prefer lbd's george as he had a few moments to show how he manipulated the narrative and because of his ultimate betrayal and horrific treatment of lydia. he is a charming and despicable villain, reminding viewers that abusers can be appear nice but actually be harmful and destructive.

Caroline Bingley

both cooper and caroline are a merging of caroline bingley and anne de bourgh from the book, which is very good meshing of characters. it wouldn't make as much sense to add in another character in either situation and also sheds light on their antagonistic motivations. cooper is much more one note than caroline, but again this is due to the time constraints of the story. cooper felt more consistent than caroline and we saw more of his actions of actively sabotaging charlie and howie's relationship. caroline wins out slightly for me but cooper fits his role perfectly in fire island.

Georgiana Darcy

unfortunately there was no gigi equivalent besides a mention in fire island, an acceptable change but it would have been nice to meet more of wills friends and see another close relationship of his. a notable change is how the wickam's character is displayed in lbd and fire island. in lbd, his actions are not revealed as lizzie is respecting gigi's privacy but does share how his relationship with darcy unfolded. in fire island, no information besides a vague warning about dex is given from will to noah. again, with more time (and series!) gigi from lbd is a clear winner to me, although i feel an additional character could have added to overcrowding in fire island

Macaque and Wukong are equally strong

it’s just that Wukong is also immortal in 5 different ways, so damage doesn’t work the same for him, you can’t break his legs but you can sure break Macaque’s

if they fought on perfectly even grounds, there wouldn’t be a victor because they match in strength on every level

and in the fight in the episode Macaque, Wukong held back so he wouldn’t accidentally hurt MK, which is why Macaque got the upper hand Macaque can probably also get the upper hand with trickery because Wukong, in fighting, doesn’t like to use tricks and just really wants to beat the shit out of someone else

and then in the finale Macaque lost for 2 reasons, namely that Wukong wasn’t fighting while in his right mind, he was under LBD’s control and didn’t have any limiters and 2, Macaque was probably holding back because he wanted to drag the fight out, not realizing it wouldn’t mesh well with Wukong not being in control of himself

Can I ask directors commentary for Set The Grief aside?

Since Gnome and I decided that LBD would be the type to have a traditional aesthetic, we try to look up references for those kind of clothing, interior, buildings, etc. to be a somewhat closer to that image in both writing and illustration. Admittedly, it is something of a mesh between dynasties and more of a vibe than anything else, but I think we're pulling it off well.

pros: unbelievably flattering irl, looks/feels super sexy, shows off legs

cons: it’s gonna be fucking freezing. also not confident i have the right silhouette to pull it off

pros: cleavage+collarbones o’clock, visual complement to the dress i’ll be wearing for the reception, fits best with my personal style

cons: i kinda look like a french maid, or one of the bitchy servants from READY OR NOT (this is secretly another pro)

pros: absolutely sickening. compliment magnet. fits the stated dress code of “something you’ve always wanted to wear” like literally how else am i ever gonna get the chance to show this off

cons: all-over mesh, and therefore most likely to make me incredibly self-conscious for the entire evening
