Masterpost for Non-Show Metalocalypse Lore

Hi There!

As the name suggests, there is a Masterpost for all non-show lore that I can find. What this means is that I have complied all of the available in-character or character-centric information about these characters and their universe. I have split up the information based on the source in which I found the information. Basically, anything that is not in an actual episode of Metalocalypse, will be considered Non-Show.

The information covers in-character interviews, podcasts, the comics (which are not canon material, so it's not show lore), and Brendon Smalls AMAs.

I will also be covering the DVD Special Features at a later update.

I've been thinking about this for a minute on how to develop Nathan's character more and thought about how his prophetic dreams could've been building up, correctly predicting, and becoming more disturbing since season three.

The climax happens in Prankklok (I changed it around again) where the band aside from Pickles and Nathan, are beefing with each other and they're planning they're friender-bender to get away from it all.

Nathan hasn't opened up about his prophetic dreams to Pickles due to fears it won't make sense and you know...Gay.

It bites him in the ass hard and now not only is everybody mad at each other, but they're also pissed at Nathan for destroying the album and now they're forced to work together again.

UHHHh OHHHHH Claudia's awoken the lore-dragon that loves to hoard this kind of stuff in my brain -- let's do this :D

I think the prophecy/world ending/the Doomstar/Falconback/Salacia has all been in the works since the beginning, but yeah -- it really picks up steam at the end of Season 2 and beginning of Season 3. Similarly, Nathan's always been one for having weird dreams and visions, but that too, becomes aggressively prophetic as the series goes on. I think your vision for how this all goes down fits well into the canon, and I have a strong feeling that the end will pay-off, similarly.

Popular fan-theory would have you believe, when "Some Days Are For Dying" picks up with that 'second voice' on the first verse, it's Nathan talking:

He's clearly frustrated about the state of things. The world's ending and he's hitting writer's block -- which seems to also happen more frequently as the series goes on. Starting Tuesday, you'll see that I even have it as a central dilemma for him in Dethkomic.

And why is Nathan having writer's block such a problem? Well, as you said and as the clues in canon seem to be pointing to -- Nathan's at the heart of the writing process for the band, and without him, the "right message" won't arrive in time to stop whatever it is that's going to tear the world apart. Ishnifus pointed out Nathan destroyed the record because "it was the wrong message", and though the show is great at throwing red herrings our way, most of us don't believe that was one of them.

Anyway. Poor guy's not gonna tell his bandmates about this (because yeah, gaaaaay... but... they're really scary and what if they come true?) so he's going to look like the bad guy in that sense, or at least a wishy-washy artist. "The Ocean Galaktik" and its themes of visions, being in the water, etc. is relevant to this entire topic, and a lot of us think these words, specifically, are about Nathan needing to find those lyrics:

I think most of all, the Galaktikon II album has a lot of central themes pointing to the band needing to unify in their final stand aganst the forces of evil. A lot of this has to do with Salacia's power taking hold of Murderface, I'm sure, but more to the point -- I don't think these powers the boys are saddled with will work if they're separated. So your ideas for pushing them back together again too, should see good returns when the story wraps. :)

ohhh i think pickles is such a fucking whore when he wants to be. that man knows he’s hot, he knows people want him and uses it to his advantage. I think he’s more forward with the women he sleeps with, he’s touching them subtly once he knows for a fact they’re interested in him. He’s holding them, squeezing their sides as he talks to their friends. He’s standing behind them, pressed up to their back so they can feel him before they hurry off to some corner of the house to fuck. He’s telling them how he saw those eyes from across the room, he saw them eye fucking him and it turned him on. It’s always fun for him to watch them blush and squeal and gasp.

I think with Nathan specifically (nickles truthing today for my mental health) he’s more the teasing type, he’ll leave a lingering touch to his lower back that Nathan tries to not over think. They’ll be drinking together and pickles will look at Nathan, his eyes are lustful but his demeanor is playful and loose, so Nathan decides it’s just the booze making him think like that. Nathan finds himself hot with jealousy when he’s got a girl or another guy hanging on his every word, touching them the way he touches Nathan, and Pickles will look at him mid conversation with them, give him a wink before turning back to whoever he’s with and it just fans the fire in Nathan’s stomach.

But when the roles are reversed, and Nathan comes onto him, Pickles is submissive and teasing. Nathan will corner him in the studio once everyone else leaves and he’s locked the door. Pickles can see the lust in his blown out pupils, feel it radiating off of his body as a huge palm is splashed over the wall next to his head. He’ll play hard to get, act cool and give Nathan that lopsided smile and pretend he doesn’t feel his dick twitch. He’ll ask Nathan what he wants, a hand reaching out to toy with one of the loops on his belt, his hand grazing over the already prominent bulge Nathan’s sporting. He’ll act surprised by the passionate kiss Nathan gives him, pressing him against the wall so hard Pickles thinks they might go through it.

He’s so submissive, even, that it becomes a ritual. He’ll do something to make Nathan jealous, bring home some dark haired groupie and fuck her loud into the next morning knowing Nathan can hear. He’ll watch Nathan eye him at a bar when another man gets too comfortable, laying a hand on his lower back as he orders their drinks. He loves seeing the metaphorical flames that follow Nathan when he’s jealous, playing this game of prey and predator. Because he knows as soon as he’s alone with Nathan, those green eyes will look at him like he’s a piece of meat for the taking. Hell rip him to shreds before building him back up, making sure each piece is just the way it was before.

Mind you this seems to be a huge continuity error because it still goes with the “Rockso was kicked out over a banana” thing with zero allusions to Dory McClean, let alone insinuating that the band didn’t disband as soon as they kicked out Rockzo (or maybe it’s something in between and they crashed and burned with Ludwig as the singer). Also not sure how long the band was around for in-universe or his supposed age ,but either way go forth fan fic writers!

We all know Glasgow Grin, right? The song Nathan wrote about the time he hooked up with St. Cecilia and she couldn't fit her mouth around his shoe-sized dick? This is how it happened:

Nathan is miserable sitting at the bar at some fancy industry party. It's singers-only, so he doesn't even have the boys along for company.

And then comes St. Cecilia, asking why he looks so down at such a nice party.

He says he hates these. He asks how she can be so happy here.

She says that she was born and bred for parties like this. Then she jokes that if her mother wasn't such a stick in the mud, she'd bet she was conceived at such a party.

Their eyes meet, then we hard cut to them banging in the coat room 🤭
