metl hedd
Metl Hedd is another game supposedly made by Colin, and is heavily featured on both versions of the site I saw.
(any fans will notice the connection to Black Mirror S4E5, titled Metalhead. The cover of the game features the same dog/robot enemy in the episode.)
This game is giving a passing mention in the movie, with the description from Tuckersoft’s site and the game reviewer character from the movie being practically the same.
Tumblr media
The second paragraph is more interesting, as it essentially copies the plot of Metalhead.
The bottom of the page looks like this:
Tumblr media
The thing that really catches my attention (besides the ad at the bottom, which I’ll get to), is the yellow underlined text:
“The people, places and actions depicted in this game are based on true events.”
This text is at the bottom of every single game page on the Tuckersoft website.
This made me wonder...is Metalhead just an hour long version of the game Metl Hedd? Or did Metalhead actually previously happen in Bandersnatch’s universe? (Or am I reading too much into this? Given that it’s Black Mirror maybe not, but still.)
Now, about that ad at the bottom.
I clicked on it, wanting to see what it led to (or if it led to anything).
Turns out, it’s actually a website that behaves freakishly like the rating system we see in Nosedive (S3E1).
When you first click on it, you get this screen:
Tumblr media
If you choose “rate a friend”, you can type in a name or a username, your name or username, and rate them.
Tumblr media
Honestly, it’s a little boring (especially compared to the “Get Your Rating” option).
If you choose to get your rating, it leads you to a screen where you can type in your name or username/handle. I first did this with my name (Sarah) and the screen looks like this:
Tumblr media
(if you click the link at the bottom it just takes you to Netflix)
I also decided to play around with other usernames.
@blackmirror gets you a 5.00 rating
Tumblr media
Naomi gets you a 4.95
Tumblr media
and while I experimented with other names, they weren’t that interesting.
Nevertheless, it’s an interesting Easter egg and fun to play with.
My real question though, is what do you think of Metl Hedd, especially the line at the end?

Aight kid buckle up,
The Red Tape ending is the hardest ending to get, here are the basic standards on how to get there, and the menaing behind it:
1. The best way and the easiest way is to have played through bandersnatch enough to get some of the basic choices, Stefan or Colin jumping, Chop or Bury, you get the idea.
2. Have a flowchart with you. Here’s a good chart with all of the endings:
https://cy.md/misc/bandersnatch/graph.dot.svg
Thanks CyberShadow for data mining this puppy.
Here’s the full post he made on his blog if that’s of any interest to you:
https://blog.cy.md/2019/08/02/datamining-bandersnatch/
3. Thanks to CyberShadow’s data mining, in order to get the red tape Ending we need to go backwards, like how you do a paper maze.
Anyways the mapping all we need to do is get 7 basic endings.
- Watched a “Bad” Ending, (Stefan usually up in jail)
- Watched a Netflix ending
- Watched The Pearl ending
- Watched Stefan finding rabbit in his dad’s office
- Watched the P.A.C.S. ending
- Watched Stefan as a kid not to go with mom when choose to
- and, Watched Stefan calling Dr.Haynes after killing his dad
4. Once all of thoses have been completed, the red tape ending will popup.
Spoilers Ahead if you wanna do this for yourself but keep reading if your too lazy and want to know more
Basically the red tape ending is pretty basic on it’s own, Stefan gets on the bus and pops a red tape named “Bandersnatch Demo” in which a bunch of random pixel computer noises plays.
But if your an old british nerd you would know that that’s the game data sounds for the ZX Spectrum, when you put the sounds into a ZX Spectrum a generated qr code will pop up looking like this:
Tumblr media
Sadly as of 2023, this qr code doesn’t work anymore, what it originally did was take you to tuckersoft.net, the site has some of the games seen in the movie. Like Nohzdyve, Metlhedd, and Bandersnatch aswell. You could even download Nohzdyve onto a ZX Spectrum and play it for real.
But yeah that’s about it.
Bro, have you gotten the red tape ending in bandersnatch yet?
considering i don’t recognize that name i doubt it
