So I recently saw Transforners One director Josh Cooley’s recent comment on the movie and oh boy.

Oh me oh my.

This movie is going to emotionally destroy me, isn’t it?

There's one thing that made Transformers One unique to me as a movie experience compared to the other Transformers films: its overall tone of impending doom. (spoilers below cut)

Since it's an origin story, Transformers One is a movie that's all about the "how" of things more than it is the "what". Watch any trailer and you already know that it's going to be about how Megatron and Optimus' friendship shattered.

The logical part of my brain knew that the fallout would happen, knew that when it happened it wouldn't be pretty nor pleasant.

And yet that didn't make the slightest difference in how I felt as I watched the story unfold.

This movie has inklings of that impending doom, starting with D16 get furious about Megatronus' death, proceeding to declare that he doesn't just want the truth to be revealed; he wants to kill Sentinel, and you can see that this declaration disturbs Orion. It's the first of many "uh oh"s and feelings of the inevitable, and it builds with subsequent scenes until, ultimately, the betrayal happens and the "uh oh" turns into "oh shit".

And yet, despite knowing that it was going to end this way, it still hurts. As Optimus says himself, he and Megatron could've rebuilt Cybertron together.

It didn't have to end this way. And yet there was no way that the story was not going to end this way, because you already knew what was going to happen before you even walked into the theater.

TF One doesn't just set Orion and D16 up for failure, it also sets YOU, the audience, up for misery. This movie gives me a strange feeling of being predictable and enjoyable, yet unpredictable and heartbreaking the same time, and I give so many kudos to the cast and crew for succeeding in that endeavor.

There’s something about the way Megatron and Optimus’ back-and-forth dialogue is written in Transformers Cybertron that makes it really easy for me to imagine them challenging each other to gay chicken.

Either that or that one Shortpacked comic has caused brain rot.

So if Scourge is essentially the love child of Megatron and Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus is Optimus Prime’s brother, then that would mean Ultra Magnus is Scourge’s uncle.

This makes the Ultra Magnus introduction funnier to me. Imagine going to Earth to take the Matrix from the brother you hate only to to find out A.) You have a nephew B.) That nephew is the love child of your loathed brother and the Predacon leader, and C.) the nephew decided to live with the asshole Predacon dad.

This show does so much work for me and it’s great.

Between Garry Chalk doing that pro marijuana video in his Optimus Primal voice and David Kaye smoking during quite a few of his annual BW Megatron Christmas videos, I’ve come to the conclusion that Optimus Primal and BW Megatron should be smoking buddies.

Should I be worried? SHOULD I BE WORRIED IM SEEING IT TOMORROW!?

Yes and no.

No, because if you’ve seen any of the trailers then you already have a good idea of what you’re getting into.

Yes, because TF One hits you more with the “how” than the “what”.

I hope you have a fun time with movie like I did!

I know I shouldn’t of been since I was somewhat aware of this before watching the show, but the introduction of accidental-Megatron-and-Optimus-lovechild Scourge left me stunned. Pretty sure I could hear my brain making dial up noises during that scene.

Even funnier is seeing Skybyte get jealous that Megatron senpai’s attention is no longer on him and instead on the lovechild. And Scourge doesn’t seem to be that fond of Skybyte in return.

This show is gold mine.

What makes the Armada finale so interesting for me is seeing Galvatron finally make not just the right decision, but making the right decision for the right reasons. He did make a right decision to agree to the truce in the first place, but like a lot of other things his choice was based on his own selfishness to get Unicron out of the way so that he could continue his battle with Optimus in peace, more than for safety and well-being of those around him.

This is a huge contrast to his decision to let himself fall in Unicron's maw to end the war during the finale, where he recognizes he was the darkness/evil that needed to go. This is surprisingly very reflective and selfless for him, and he doesn't let Optimus' attempts to save him sway his decision. To the contrary, Galvatron ends up forcing Optimus to let him do what needs to be done.

Just wanted to wish a Happy New Year to all of my followers!

The plan to is continue my watch of RID01, get around to watching Earthspark, and share whatever other toys I get this year. In addition, I would like to get into drawing some TF characters, even if said drawings are just simple sketches.

I look forward to spending another year in the Transformers fandom with all of you!
