THE END of the week with MHDL
It’s THE END of the week, but just the beginning of what @MediaHistoryDL can tell us about our holdings!  The 1946 film CRUISERS OF TOMORROW came to us in a recent donation.
Tumblr media
Like many sponsored films, it’s a great document of its time and fun to see. It’s all about how many features the latest Richardson power boats have for your comfort and boating pleasure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While looking up the film’s creator, Everett E. Roquemore--so beautifully identified in the opening credits--
Tumblr media
we ran across several mentions of his company online, each digitized and available via the Media History Digital Library.  We would expect learning something about Roquemore’s business from Business Screen magazine and are delighted to see his studio shown in American Cinematographer (Aug. 1949):
Tumblr media
What we didn’t expect but are thrilled by is mention of the exact film we received! (Movie Makers, July 1947)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a great way to end the week. We wish you happy sailing towards your weekend!

Of course, there’s more to this film than those images.... But these are the things that help us look up this film in the Media History Digital Library where we learn more about Jack Lieb:
Tumblr media
C&B Line was the Cleveland & Buffalo Transit Co. (and Steamship Line).
John Harrington was a WSB Radio announcer, so you know this film is going to have a great voice narrating.
And whadda ya know! The film is mentioned in Box Office magazine in June 1947:

Telecolor Films was incorporated in 1946:

Thanks, again, #MHDL!

No thoughts. Just a great illustration with a pretty staid print ad.
