MI Sentence Starters - ACCEPTING

“Yeah, I’m okay,” Jinki murmured, crawling into a sitting position afterhis fall. Disorientated and dazed, he stared at the stairs above him. He hadbeen so careful not to trip because he knew how easily his feet decidedotherwise. He had watched his limbs move as he headed down and yet his bodystopped listening to his brain after only a few steps down. There was nothingin his way and yet he tripped over thin air and stumbled down the stairs whilehis papers and books went flying through the air. He hoped no one was there towitness his stupid fall, but of course there was this tall man with dark eyes whosaw the entire incident and rushed to help the clumsy victim.

Falling face down on the marble floor at the bottom of the stairs, Jinkiexpected to break or seriously injure at least one body part. But to his (andthe stranger’s) surprise, there was no stabbing pain in leg or arm nor astinging pain to indicate a serious cut somewhere on his body. He was only alittle sore, but that was normal after such a tumble.

“Thanks,” he said as the young man stretched out his hand to help himback up. In contrary to his slim figure, the man had great strength in hisarms. His muscles tensed only slightly as he pulled Jinki on his feet, as if hewas lifting a feather.

While Jinki recovered from the dizziness that struck him as he got up,the stranger gathered his books and papers that were all scattered on the marblefloor and handed them back to their owner. Although the young man said nothing,Jinki could still see the worry in his dark eyes. He was not convinced he wasnot hurt (and who would be if you witnessed such a fall).

“I’m really okay,” Jinki reassured the man before bowing slightly andthanking him one last time. “Don’t worry about me, I’m used to this. My feetoften betray me. You’d be surprised how many times I’ve met face first with thefloor. I’m lucky it was such a nice floor this time, otherwise my suit would beruined.”

it was common sense that jongup would have to use the gun he got when he joined the mpd at some point. he just had hoped to not have to use it that early on in his career.

slowly he nodded, leaning back in his chair and ignoring the way his leather jacked squeaked and how the chair groaned as he changed his position, "i did have to kill someone but i really was forced to it. he tried to attack me. it was self-defense."

thats what he always tried to tell himsel. 'self-defense'. bullshit. jongup had just panicked because some dude he should've arrested for child pornography stomped towards, threatening him, rumaging in the pockets of his jacket as he told jongup what he'd do with his eyes when he cut them out of his face and that was the point were jongup had panicked. he had believed what the man had said, he thought he was going to be brutally tortured so he pulled the trigger. three times. and then he just watched the man go down. his partner, who still was alive at that time, reassured him, that it was a normal reaction. self-defense. but jongup knew it wasn't.

She took her time thinking about the question. Really thinking about it and not just going with the first answer that came up in her mind. It was hard to answer and the words felt like they weighed a ton, pulling her down steadily and usually she would let her gaze flow around the room, to calm her thoughts but she knew him well enough to look straight at him, as her thoughts consumed her slowly.

"Yes. Yes, I..think so.", Areum hated the way her voice was unstable as she answered betraying her as she try to look sure of her answer. "Not everyone really chose to have this life and not everyone is happy with it. We do deserve normal lives, though what is normal nowadays. But everyone deserves at least a chance to see what their life would've been like if they had to walk a different path."
