I worked all day and night, dealing with grading, site errors, server issues, and irate students. Now I'm just exhausted and heading to bed.

On top of everything, my work email has stopped functioning on my phone, which is a huge problem for me, and IT says they need me to physically bring the phone to them to try to fix it. I work from home, so now I have to drive all the way to campus to go camp out in the IT office, likely for them to just tell me I have to get a newer phone, which I can't afford at this time. Should be fun? *sigh*

Plus my computer did some Microsoft updates and bricked the Tumblr site. I can't get new posts or drafts to load or edit at all. Everything works on my phone, but not on the desktop. That's going to really screw with my ability to get anything done on here. I'm typing this on my phone, which I hate doing. It takes me ten times longer this way. So until I can figure out wtf happened and how to fix it, I can't really get much done in the way of replies.

I will have to see how tomorrow goes and if I can restore Tumblr on my computer. I may have some time to write, but if the site won't work, then I can't post anything. Arrival orientation & orientation (20th & 24th Sep)

Last time, for the arrival orientation for all the exchange students on the 20th of September, we already got a thick folder with so many documents, papers, information. About city registration, a comprehensive insurance that all students have to obtain during their time at the uni, additional optional insurance, immigration policies, safe living in Japan and around campus, how to register a bike, festivals around the campus,.... But most importantly: We got our student ID card, as well as the information for initiating our accounts for the Unified Authentication Sytem and the Microsoft 365 account.

The Unified Authentication System is important for example for the websites manaba and TWINS, where information and grades for each course will be published, as well as for the library and the on-campus WiFi System. Just like the BTU, Tsukuba Uni has a lot of different websites just to be able to obtain different information and it's hard to remember where to look up what....

The Microsoft account on the other hand is used to set up an uni related email address which is used for all communication. For online lectures, Microsoft Teams is used, and sometimes also MS Stream, for any on-demand videos related to the lectures.

Today, 24th of September, at the orientation by the Academic Service Office (School of Life and Environmental Sciences in my case), we got another big envelope with lots of paper.

The most important paper in that whole thing was this Student Record (see above). Due to privacy, I censured the upper part, but it basically just mentions your name and Faculty at Tsukuba that you're in. Plus, we have to submit a photo of ourselves.

The Student Record is used to apply for the courses you wanna take and has to be submitted to the Academic Service Office by the deadline of 9th of October. Until then, we need to collect the Seal of Approval from each instructor of the course on the first day of when the class is being held.

Regular students can apply for courses online, but exchange students can't. We're supposed to prioritise courses from our college (department) and school (faculty), but we don't have to stick to it. Unless you're having different requirements from your home university, of course.

One important thing they let us know is that if you have a student visa, you have to do at least 600 hours of classes per week, to keep the visa valid. Since at Tsukuba each class is 75 min, that means we have to take at least 8 classes per week. There is only an exception for FallC (the third part of the semester), which is shorter than FallA and FallB, hence we don't necessarily need those eight hours per week and instead it's enough if we achieved it in FallAB.

In the envelope that they handed us out today they also included a printout of the whole PowerPoint presentation..... (Poor trees). But we also got another handout with actual useful information:

The Pledge is also important, but only for the uni... We had to pledge that we're obeying by the rules and regulations of the Tsukuba Uni xD

1 - Are you generally nervous around your tc, or are you more relaxed and comfortable around them? I find I’m more relaxed around them. I am a nervous wreck sometimes but those moments are rare!

2 - Is your tc an introvert or an extrovert? How about you? They are both extroverts while I’m an introvert 

3 - Does your tc use emojis or emoticons when communicating with you? If so, what have they used? if not, what do you think they’d use? S used emojis when he sent personal emails to me! Especially the “😊” emoji. B doesn’t really send emojis. If he did, it would most likely be the thumbs up one or the “😀” emoji

4 - What’s the biggest or most important thing your tc has taught you, ether in terms of life lessons or the subject matter of their class? B: Build my way up so I can do public speaking S: Don’t let shit get to my head!!

5 - Does your tc have a classroom / office, or are they “floating” (using a cart or something and moving from place to place)? What does their teaching space look like? B has an office and it's quite neat, with a couple books here and there. S has 2 offices since he teaches 2 subjects. I have seen one but I’m guessing the other one is neat since he is a neat person in general!

6 - What was your favourite assignment in your tc’s class and why? Are they a harsh grader? For B, I have 2 favourite projects! For one, we got make a homemade magazine about a topic. I got 80% on it! And for the 2nd one, we got to make a creative story which had to follow a simulator timeline of a movie we had watched as a class. I got a 70% on it! With S, we got to do a role play type thing! I got a 73% on it which was good

7 - Do you and your tc have any inside jokes? are they shared by other people (classmates, other teachers, etc) or is it just between you two? Not really

8 - If your tc was an animal, what animal would they be? I feel like S would be a deer and B would be a friendly bear

9 - How do you feel about being in the tcc? Are you afraid of getting caught, etc? Sometimes I am afraid of getting caught since a couple of friends uses Tumblr, so I try and be careful about what I post. But I like being in the tcc.

10 - How long have you been having teacher crushes? How many tc’s have you had in total, and how long have you been in the tcc? I've been liking teachers for 1 and a half years now. I’ve had 4 tc’s in total which is something. I’ve been in the tcc for nearly 2 years now

11 - Is your tc’s room close to the front of your school / campus, or is it more towards the back? Their offices are both at the front of the school which is convenient!

12- Are you shorter or taller than your tc? Both taller than me! S completely towers over me

13 -  does your tc have any pets at home? how many and what animals? B used to have a ginger cat

14 - Does your tc have a blackboard or a whiteboard in their room? What color chalk/marker do they use the most? They both use whiteboards and they mainly used black and red markers

15 - Besides your blog, do you vent about your feelings towards your tc in any other way? I have a mini diary that I use on my computer for things that I don’t put on here. I go more into depth about things there and read back on them every once in a while

16 - Are there any students you’re jealous of in terms of their relationship to your tc? Not really

17 - Imagine that you and your tc were born in the same year. How many days apart would your birthdays be? I would have no clue. Maybe a couple months apart

18 - Have you ever gotten in trouble with your tc? If so, what happened? Never have! Hopefully never will!

19 - Is your tc’s hair curly or straight, and is it short, medium, or long? Both of their hair is straight and short. B’s hair is slightly longer and a tiny bit wavier than S’ hair. 

20- what web browser does your tc use? what kind of phone/computer do they have? I think they both use a HP laptop, so the Microsoft windows web browser. As for phones, they both have apple phones, so safari or google

21- Are there any calendar dates that are special to you because of your tc? Not yet! 

22 - Do any celebrities or fictional characters look like or remind you of your tc? Kind of. There was this one guy on instagram who reminded me of S a tiny bit. There is someone that looks like B as well, but I don’t know who it was. Hopefully I remember soon!

Thank you! It’s mostly used for gaming, as I do not work from home, but I do also use it for my university coursework (which is primarily just using Microsoft Office Suite programs, Canva, Canvas Student and my digital textbooks via Chrome).

Here is the general list of specs of my PC:

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700F 16

RAM: T-Force 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz

GPU: Zotac GEForce RTX 4070Ti Trinity OC 12GB

Storage: 1TB M.2 Nvme SSD + 2GB SSD

It performs very well. I have had no issues playing things like Diablo 4, Fortnite and Hogwarts Legacy on max settings. I think the hottest I’ve seen my GPU get was around 60-65°C? And that was after a few hours at max settings. Otherwise, my CPU, GPU usage and temps are quite low (25-32°C on average) with the CPU, GPU and RAM usage also always being quite low. It’s a pretty high end build in my opinion. Cost about $2500 CAD with taxes and all ($1900 USD) so I mean I should hope it performs pretty fucking well 😂

But yeah, I’ve had zero complaints about it!

“HOW DOES MOBILE APPS BECOME PART OF MY DAILY LIFE?”

Given that we currently live in the modern era. Anyone has access to the internet through their smartphones, which are truly important to people's everyday tasks nowadays. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including education, online businesses, and many other things, where it can be applied as fundamental information to many facets of life.

I can't deny that I still have many things to learn about the course I have been chosen for, even if I decided to pursue a degree in information and communications technology and become a teacher soon. Although it may be difficult to evolve, I hope to see an exciting future, five years or ten years from now on. My aim is to provide important information to my incoming students regarding the significance of using mobile apps and the possible advantages as well as disadvantages that may occur for them.

And now for the very interesting part. I created this blog because I was interested to discuss some of mobile apps that I use the most and provide honest feedback based on my experience dealing those apps carefully and using them in the right manner. Let us start and see! 😁👀

Facebook is the leading app I am using everyday. Why? Because, I discovered that I could socialize with people using this app in many ways other than face-to-face interactions, such as reacting and commenting to their posts, sharing memes that I saw on newsfeeds and could apply to my real-life status, joining various group pages to share my knowledge, selling things that can generate a profit and starting a business, and a ton of other freely made things.

Google comes in second. This app is already available on all cellphones that you could purchase. However, when it comes to complete my schoolwork and other assignments on time, that's when it becomes resourcefulness for me. I should not really 100% trusted this app, because, there are some things aren't true to know or can be lead into “misinformation” like in the website of Wikipedia. That's why, sometimes, I love to do my self-tasks alone.

The Messenger, the third one. It was an app that linked to Facebook, making it simpler to send messages to people you knew. I have been using this to connect with my teacher and classmates ever since the pandemic. It can't be access whenever I'm offline but, there's another variant of this app which is called, “Messenger Lite” that even basic mode can still access. Unlike the regular version, I guess.

The next one is YouTube. Through this app, I can watch the daily news that I couldn't watch on TV, to gather an additional information about the lessons in school I think it's hard to be understood, have a good time to watch those missed music videos that came from my favorite artists and so much more things to do.

For the fifth place, Spotify is always there at my phone to save me every time. When I listen to songs out there, it makes me heal from everything I pissed off. But, unfortunately, data or Wi-Fi is needed for this app. That's why sometimes, I listen to my download songs playlist. Whenever I don't have an internet to be used it. This kind of music streams is the best app that I had in my whole life and also, you can subscribe for its premium version (just optional only, if you want to remove ads while having a sound trip alone or with your family everywhere, especially, at home).

The two apps next to Spotify are named, “Microsoft Office 365” and “Canva.” Both are eligible to be used and finished on time, the tasks you want to overcome in everyday life. It makes me assist like an instructor that you can learn a lot from these two apps. That's why, I'm thankful that they created a superior & perfect app for every person who have a struggling problems that unable to solve when it comes to work that include time management.

The eighth one is “Google Chrome” that designed to be that's fastest web browser. With one click, it loads web pages, multiple tabs, and applications with lightning speed. Whenever I'm using this app, there will be always ads popping up. So, as a result, I easily annoyed sometimes but, we can't deny the fact that ads is everywhere, even for those online gamers can relate. As what I said, it allows me to set up tabs as many as I can, just in case I needed those pages.

While, the two left apps on my list are called, “MVLE Mobile” and “Google Classroom.” These two educational purpose apps makes me help to fulfill the tasks that I should be finished on time. Aside from that, they're lessons can pin and students can able to download it then, having a takes notes. So, just in case, our instructors may ask some questions about the lessons we read about the learning materials s/he has given through online access.

I gained a lot of knowledge to them and since everything we use nowadays are related to technology.
