I am going to be rewatching season 2 because I already miss it. Besides, one time simply wasn't enough. It took me only a few seconds to get back emotionally into the world of Pera Palace after what seemed like a very long time. I love this story. It holds my attention, it entertains me, it makes me think. I love its characters and its setting, its colors and its lines. And when it's over, I think, "This went by way too fast."
I like Hazal Kaya's sincerity. Her Esra makes me chuckle and makes me admire this character. Sometimes Esra annoys me a bit, but I still like her, and I am still charmed by her. It's Hazal's authenticity that shines.
I like Halit as well. For me, he has just the right amount of everything, and the way he kept going through the Gateway of Truth earned my respect. Selahattin is absolutely magnetic in this role. It fits him like a glove. He enthralls me. Such a great screen presence.
A chemistry between the two is one of the best out there. At first, I was frustrated with Esra falling into suspicion again, but then it made sense to me. And the fact that they keep trying to find a way back to each other is endearing.
Also, I enjoyed learning a bit more about Ahmet and felt helpless when he was reading the scribbles on his palm.
I loved the finale. I went from 'wait, what...' to 'oh, yeaaah!' in a hearbeat, and I will be waiting for more.

It is indeed surprising that criticism of Esra's actions towards Halit is being so intense, while ignoring Halit's peculiar behavior, which he clearly did not deny, just made it seem like it was Esra's delusion. There is a tendency to say: "Oh, Halit would never do that", but for us, the spectators, who observe from the outside, Esra's difficulty in understanding Halit's behavior is understandable, especially considering that he did not appear in the same way after years without contact.
Likewise, criticism was directed at Esra's apparent lack of display of affection towards Halit. Esra saved him twice. The fact that she doesn't express her love constantly doesn't diminish her feelings. Esra has never had a meaningful relationship and, as she herself stated, she doesn't know what love is. Although Halit also had a life without deep relationships, he was desired by other women, while Esra seemed to have her life centered solely on work.
I will be in defense of my girl Esra. And I love you Halit, but you were weird this season (I'm sorry, I know it was the writers' fault).

Halit: I'm mad, you don't trust me and it hurts but Im not emotionally stable enough to communicate that so I'm just going to avoid you rn. I'm so stubborn nothing will change my mind and I'm so uncaring and above it all.
Hitchcock, talking to Esra barely a day later: Hrehrhrhr hello id really like to talk with you. Alone. Perhaps I could buy you a drink ;]
Halit: So I'm going to physically kick this old man out of my hotel, threaten him, and then pretend I'm not hyperventilating at the idea of my fake fiancé going out with anyone else or just the idea of anyone feeling comfortable enough to flirt with her in front of me

Season 2 of MATPP had me *stressed* and invested. I was stress sweating.
I saw one of the twists, but not the second. My flabers were properly gasted. And the ending?
I need season 3. Capital 'N' need it.
