Do you read a book as it’s published or wait for the whole series to binge read? After reading Nevernight for the first time this month I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books and I’m glad they’re already on my shelves so I don’t have to wait! It’s been one of those series that was recommended to me for absolutely ages and thanks to the #nicnaxbookclub I was able to buddy read it. I was going through my kindle looking at books I’ve not read in ages and came across the Trial by Fire trilogy by Josephine Angelini (synopsis below) and I am absolutely due a re-read. Have you read this series? Do you find hidden, forgotten, treasured ebooks when browsing your own online library? 💜 “Love burns. Worlds collide. Magic reigns. My plans for the week will include batch photo taking for July. I also got a notice that Evie will be going in to school for two days next month to transition. Half a class for half a day with her current teacher and half a class for half a day with her year 5 teacher, and that will be it until September. 💜 Today has been a good day, I finished and submitted my tax return, so that’s always a win! I finished Chain of Gold last night and I am seriously missing being in the world of the shadowhunters. I haven’t finished the dark artifices series yet and I haven’t even started the mortal instruments series so thankfully I have plenty to get me back into that world! 💜 What are your plans for the weekend? Do you know what’s made me broke? Bookish merch. During lockdown I have been filling the void of my soul by creating a candle collection - check my stories to see how many I’ve accumulated! Bookish merch is something I found back at the end of the year and it’s what convinced me to change my Instagram around. Now I’ve found a community of wonderfully caring people who love the same worlds as I do but even better they’ve created something super special inspired by those worlds such as candles and pins and coasters and art and perfume. 💜 I don’t want to talk too much about my identify (because as a cis gendered white heterosexual woman I acknowledge my own privilege and it’s not my time) but this community has made me feel like I have a place here. Sharing the worlds created by others and the true escapism that books bring me has encouraged me to really try and take better photos, to read more, to learn more and to be better. I feel like I have come into my own just a little bit more. Crooked Kingdom, the second part of the six of crows duology picked up shortly after the events of Six of Crows and had many surprises. I enjoyed it, but the first one was my favourite of the two. However by the end I was totally there for Jesper and Wylan moments! 💜 I am taking time to process what is going on in the world around me, finding time to listen to voices that need to be amplified right now and sharing resources in my stories that I’ve found helpful, educational and inspiring. I’ve found some petitions to sign and whilst it is not enough, it is a start and something I will continue to do. Are you a mood reader or do you have a monthly tbr? Here are a few of the books I’m hoping to read this month, minus the ones in my kindle. I’ve actually already finished Restore Me and I’ve nearly finished Defy Me. I had no idea just how addictive the shatter me series is but I can’t stop now. 💜 I feel very strange at the moment, I’m struggling to comprehend the brutality people are facing right now. I’ve been saving my political stuff for my stories, as I normally do, and today I took a bit of a day away from the news.
