This two books though! Aurora Rising helped get me out of a reading slump and Aurora Burning just was non stop action. I loved both and they were 5 star reads from me. I recommend them both to help get you out of a slump or if you want to try something you don’t usually read. Tell me something good that’s happened to you today? Today has been rubbish. I’m not going to get into it but this flat is too small for four people and Adam got his amazon account hacked and it’s just been a really shitty day. 💜 Bone Criers Moon was a five star read for me last month. I loved it. I loved the setting and the Fairyloot edition included artwork is stunning. I loved the setting and atmosphere and found the magic system really interesting. Are you a Throne of Glass fan? I am missing The Assassins Blade Queen of Shadows from this collection of Throne of Glass minis but I love them. Throne of Glass is a world that absolutely feels like home, or would be home and of all the characters I connect with, Manon is right up there. She is just my favourite and Abraxos is right up there in my list of favourite dragons. 💜 I first heard Throne of Glass on audio book and wasn’t sure at first but then I fell asleep listening to it and woke up to something horrific and completely unexpected which made me want to read the series properly. Do you know what’s made me broke? Bookish merch. During lockdown I have been filling the void of my soul by creating a candle collection - check my stories to see how many I’ve accumulated! Bookish merch is something I found back at the end of the year and it’s what convinced me to change my Instagram around. Now I’ve found a community of wonderfully caring people who love the same worlds as I do but even better they’ve created something super special inspired by those worlds such as candles and pins and coasters and art and perfume. 💜 I don’t want to talk too much about my identify (because as a cis gendered white heterosexual woman I acknowledge my own privilege and it’s not my time) but this community has made me feel like I have a place here. Sharing the worlds created by others and the true escapism that books bring me has encouraged me to really try and take better photos, to read more, to learn more and to be better. I feel like I have come into my own just a little bit more. Have you read a curse so dark and lonely? I first read this one a couple of days before the second book came out and devoured it pretty quickly. I liked both but actually o think I prefer a heart so fierce and broken; I am team Grey for sure. 💜 I think what pulled me in was the sort of beauty and the beast retelling and a bit of an enemies to lovers trope which I love. I found a curse so dark and lonely pretty quick to read and well paced but it was also pretty simple and gentle. I’d describe this books as nice. A little bit of escapism and some darker themes but they don’t go too dark. They’re pretty easy to consume. I may reread both before I read any future releases but im not sure. Crooked Kingdom, the second part of the six of crows duology picked up shortly after the events of Six of Crows and had many surprises. I enjoyed it, but the first one was my favourite of the two. However by the end I was totally there for Jesper and Wylan moments! 💜 I am taking time to process what is going on in the world around me, finding time to listen to voices that need to be amplified right now and sharing resources in my stories that I’ve found helpful, educational and inspiring. I’ve found some petitions to sign and whilst it is not enough, it is a start and something I will continue to do. I’ve actually already finished Restore Me and I’ve nearly finished Defy Me. I had no idea just how addictive the shatter me series is but I can’t stop now. 💜 I feel very strange at the moment, I’m struggling to comprehend the brutality people are facing right now.
