WEEK 6: MIDTERM PRESENTATION
Pictured here are my materials presented during the midterm presentation. The all-round theme of my exhibition is ''People Connected: Across distance & time''. This theme explores the evolution of communication methods and devices throughout the years, that has helped people stay in touch with each other from great distances - specifically more personal connections (friends, romantic partners, family). The idea is that this exhibition not only displays the communication devices, but also touches on the way it has evolved in terms of senses. From physical words on handwritten ink letters, to being able to hear your loved one's voice, and nowadays even seeing them live on a screen through a digital device as if they're right there!
Main focus points:
Evolution of communication methods and devices
The three main senses that have played a role in this evolution: physical words, audio, and visuals
The speed of and time it takes for these communication methods and devices (months, weeks, days, a mere second - slow to fast paced)
Personal feelings and meaning of connection between people; touch a little bit on its societal impact (though this is not necessarily the main focus)
The idea is to have something educational for people of all walks of life - all ages and generations. An exhibition that is fit for the whole family, and which allows interaction with the exhibition itself as well as the visitors. An experience that is very intriguing and exciting, yet very informative to anyone who may visit.
*Not pictured are two smaller experimental models (both scale 1:33). These illustrate two ideas for interactive installations within the exhibition. As soon as I'm able to take pictures of those I will add them to this post!

Amid COVID-19 pandemics and lovely spring weather, we are proud to present our midterm presentation! Our team, known as Project Code: Women, has been working with the Institute of Data Science @ Maastricht University for the past month to fight for and measure gender diversity in the field of Data Science. Yet there is much more to the project than just that! Within this brief five minute presentation, we will cover everything from our team, project, and client to what has been done so far and what will be done. So sit back, relax, and listen to the luscious voice of our team member, Lorena, as spring blossoms outside and the world tries to stay healthy and positive!

Mid-Term Presentation (1/2)

BOM DIA A TODOS
So here go our reflections on the midterm presentations that happened on Wednesday.
First of all, as already said in the previous post Aleix did a great job with presenting. We were really pleased with the results given that we really had put a lot of effort in that little presentation.
Next, we were very impressed with everyone’s presentations. We loved all of them; the humour of the ContinuUM Team, the courage of Oana in presenting SilVRmind’s presentation and the team spirit of the A Team. Great work everyone!
Next, along the positive feedback we received from our mentor and the audience we also were made aware of points to improve. Mainly, we are so enthusiastic and so deep into our project that we ran short in explaining the key aspects of the region of Limburg that become relevant for a UNESCO application.
Finally, the questions we received from the audience were very interesting and some were quite tough which helped us to further reflect on our progress.
All in all, we are very grateful for all the insights and the opportunity to share our enthusiasm with the rest of the PREMIUM teams.
Thank you for a great evening!!
- The UNESCO effect team

Midterm presentation session was scheduled for today, however, it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 developments and the health precautions taken. We were looking forward to give our pitch in front of all of you... - but hey, this is still possible! Tonight #stayathome and enjoy our video!

In order to get in the mood of creative thinking, one of our project members designed a creative workshop session consisting of several nice creative exercises to think differently about the project. This actually aligns very well with the method of design thinking CUBE uses in their CUBE calls. We are looking forward to pitch our outcomes next week!

Last Tuesday was a remarkable day for our journey, we had the possibility of presenting our project and the progresses we have made to the other PREMIUM groups. We deeply appreciate the feedback and the questions we received from the other teams. It was a really interactive and interesting night, with amazing projects and pitches. Furthermore, we counted with the presence and support of our mentor and our coach. Thank you! :) Unfortunately, one of our team members could not be present during the presentations, but that did not stop her from supporting the rest of the team. Thank you, Elena!

MIDTERM PRESENTATION
Project Name: Con-gra-du-ation! Summary: This project was executed to observe and analyze the existing affair support system which made the students get annoyed and from that, we drew some flow model and social model to redesign this into envisioned flow model which contains our new system “Con-gra-du-ation!”. The name “Con-gra-du-ation!” came from the word ‘congratulation’ and ‘graduation’, which implicates that we want to help and celebrate the user’s graduation in a simple word by adopting a new system.

Meeting Pieter
Yesterday evening we had the pleasure to have a private lecture by Dr. Pieter Calje about the biography of the Kritjland (in case you didn’t know my friends that’s the ground where you are standing — google it mate). He was truly amazing and gave us some major insights about Limburg and made fun of German students for getting lost in the famous caves (and we all know that could have been any of us but of course they had to be German, am I right or am I right? Also sorry Isabelle ly).
Here are some spoilers of the lecture for you guys but be excited for our mid-term to learn more:
There are graffitis in the Maastricht caves from the 14th century (but Pieter doesn’t want you to do more graffitis in the caves)
The caves were used to hide art in times of war (I don’t mean the graffitis, eh!)
Mushrooms are cultivated in the caves (whaaaaaat??)
Limburg is a symbolic landscape because it doesn’t look Dutch (yes, read it again because I mean it exactly like that, isn’t that weird?)
I leave you here with all the suspense whilst me and my team go prepare for the midterm presentation.
See you later alligator!
- Laura

What a NIGHT! We were finally able to share with you all what we have been up to and where we are headed. Our two keynote speakers Jana and Gil did a fantastic job and those slick presentation animations stood clearly out! ;) Next, to all the other fantastic presentations, we really enjoyed this evening of getting closer as a team, staying long after the last presentation had finished and chatting about other things for once than just the project. Sadly Jana had to leave early because she wasn’t feeling too well. What a trooper she is to still pull off the presentation!
