listening to him, not necessarily agreeing with or obeying him (though he will like that too), but listening to what he has to say, taking that a step further and actually asking him for his opinion, his thoughts, or his views on things. harry appreciates it when people want to know how and what he thinks, and appreciates it even more when they actually listen to what he says and take the time to try and understand it. whether they agree or disagree, obey or disobey is relative, formulating their own opinion, thought, or making their own decision after hearing what he has to say is still appreciated.

respecting and valuing uma as a leader, a captain, and the pirate king of the isle will almost immediately get you on harry’s good side, he’ll still be skeptical and suspicious but it does win you a fair amount of approval points. again, listening and valuing his opinion or thoughts on something will also get you on his good side. respecting him as a person, as first mate, as second in command, or as a captain in his own right will also get you on his good side. treating his crew with respect will get you on his good side. you can get him gifts, offer him good intel, provide important or valuable information on people, places, things, do your job and do it well.

what’s something dumb they’re embarrassed about? easy. when he jumped into shark waters while they were frenzied because jay threw his hook into the water. he cringes whenever he remembers doing it, he still doesn’t entirely understand his own actions or what really provoked him to do something that stupid. he also has a tendency to get embarrassed in regards to his literacy and numeracy skills, while he’s been working on upskilling it’s still been a difficult ride and he still struggles with numbers in particular and will get embarrassed if he feels like people he values look down on him for it.

he blinks a couple of times before managing to respond, and even that amount of time is only enough to render a small " ... oh. "

the naturality with which @miercabre says it makes him believe that her grandmother is fine after such endeavor, so he makes no questions. christmas time is never the easiest in his household. fully aware that his father is doing his best, but their best attempts at connecting are often not enough. he cannot remember his mother, not really, but he knows enough about how festive she was, how the house would be smelling of sweets, how there'd be decorations all around. and he tries. he sets up the christmas tree and decorates the living room while his dad is at work to surprise him, has tried to bake enough times that he is now able to make some nice treats for them, saves some of his money to give his dad a nice gift. 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐲 but nothing ever seems to beat THE SILENCE, THE MELANCHOLY, THE MOURNING. he doesn't blame him, not really, but he has always wondered how it'd be to have closer family, to gather around and celebrate, for happiness to prevail. there's some jealousy there, but not ill-intended.
