When we say that future creators can do better, we mean it. Our carrd has some reasources, but everyone in the Star Wars fandom is encouraged to not only go out and do their own research, but to spread what they find among their peers. Learn how to draw the facial features of different ethnicities. Large noses, flat ones, hooked ones. Round faces, full cheeks, hooded eyes. The full range of skin tones. Learn about the tropes and stereotypes surrounding your marginalized characters. Learn what to do, how to avoid doing the same things as the Bad Batch creators. You'll be shocked to learn how popular media has historically gone out of its way to demonize people of color, disabled people, neurodivergent people, and Jewish people, among others. What may seem like a harmless trope to you often has decades or even centuries of hate behind it. No trope exists in a vacuum, and no creation does, either. You can do better.

you ever see a fandom post that you technically agree with but you have a mutual that VEHEMENTLY would disagree with the post to an extent where should you reblog said post they would take major offense so you just simply like it and move on but also secretly take offense in their honor even tho you agree.

I'm getting ready for a doc appointment, so I'll have to reblog all your Bowuigi drabbles later, but I wanted to say I don't think you're making Luigi too dark. The man is so used to being in the shadows-- feeling like he's not worth much in the grand scheme of things-- so to have Bowser care so much for him to kill another on his behalf? As morbid as it is, it's flattering as hell!
I'm happy that you think so! It's been a bit weird to not have an established outline for character reasonings in this Bowuigi Prompt-athon, so the fact that I had been able to keep Luigi in-character (as much as one can be, since, Bowuigi) is honestly gosh-darn relieving!
Thanks, Dude!!
On a side note: Holy heck, the trickle effect is no joke! Not sure if you saw, but I think I have you to thank for the large number of notifications I've had!

I don't want to be too mean because there's nothing objectively wrong with this article but the vibe I got reading this was like "it sounds like these are two valid approaches to writing romances and any flaws with them aren't inherent to the design choice so much as they're limited by the devs imagination and writing skill?"
But also like it's interesting to hear people talk about it and it brings up some interesting games I want to check out now, so like? Whatever? Objectively fine article, it's just going to be bugging me for the rest of the day.
I will make fun of this quote though:
“The difference between a bisexual character versus a playersexual character really is a matter of context,” Gaider says. “By calling a character ‘playersexual,’ you’re sort of erasing the fact that they are bisexual, but, the part where having a term for that becomes useful is when you start to investigate, like, why is this character bisexual?”
I'm sorry do I need a three page essay explaining why I'm bisexual? Do I need to bring this up on my tinder date? Damn I've been doing this wrong.

I love a character raised to be a weapon as much as the next guy. But what really gets me is a character raised to be a shield. Who can’t fathom being needed—or even being wanted— beyond keeping others safe. Who believe they are alive only to insure someone doesn’t die. no matter the cost. Characters who self-sacrifice not because they think they deserve it, but because no one else does deserve it, and it’s their job to protect.
Characters who’ve been told that’s why your important. Your worth something because this other person/ thing is important, and you are here solely to keep them safe.
Bonus points if it’s not a legitimate job they’ve been given. Maybe at one point it was, but now that they are free from it, they haven’t given up that mentality. No one is forcing or asking them to do this, but they need to. They need to in order to be deserving.

Assigning the FF7 cast D&D classes
This won't correlate 100% of course since the systems and lore differ (especially considering magic)
Cloud: Fighter - Champion, Warlock - Pact of the Blade A skilled fighter. Nothing too fancy, he's kinda just really powerful. However, he's also fairly good with magic and can make sword beams and such. So I think Warlock as a stand-in for the Jenova cell shenanigans could be pretty spicy. Or he's just mako enhanced and the Jenova cells act more like a curse.
Barret: Barbarian - Path of the Juggernaut Barbarians aren't just mindless attackers, but they channel their rage purposefully and are really tanky. And boy is Mr. Eco-Terrorist Fuck Off Shinra channeling his rage to fight for the planet. They're not typically ranged attackers, but whatever. (I think he'd also have fun as a Ranger or Druid, but that is certainly not part of his playstyle.)
Tifa: Monk- Way of the Open Hand I mean obviously the martial artist is a monk. Punches and kicks for days.
Aerith: Sorcerer - Divine Soul, Cleric- Life Domain I could see either of those or both working for her. She was born with the powers to commune with the lifestream, quite the sacred gift. She's also an avid healer with a connection to the divine, although she's not exactly a worshipper of that divine.
Red XIII: Paladin - Oath of the Watchers It's literally in the subclass name. He's a watcher of the Veil, sworn to protect the world from the undead Gi and such. Powerful physical fighter utilizing buffs and some magicy flair, like Starshower seems kinda Divine Smite adjacent.
Yuffie: Rogue - Scout, Monk - Way of the Four Elements Ninja are Rogues. You could argue Thief subclass with her snagging Materia, but I feel like her role is generally more Scout like. Traveling around with higher movement, hunting and looking and info gathering for Materia more than she is straight up stealing it. In a fight the way she buffs her attacks with elemental damage and physical deftness seems quite monk-like.
Cait Sith: Bard - College of Creation His weapon is literally a megaphone. He drops presents on his enemies. Also gambling and cat charms. (Hmm, there could be a wild magic aspect to this too.)
Vincent: Blood Hunter - Order of the Mutant Befitting of his edge, he channels whatever fucked up shit Hojo did to him into monsterous transformations. Perhaps not exactly a blood magic user, but close enough.
Cid: Artificer - Artillerist Pilot, mechanic, literally throws bombs at the enemy. Stuff like his high jump attacks can be explained by Jump being on the Artificer spell list.

I love the "came back wrong" trope but from the opposite side.
Imagine you are dead. And then you are RIPPED from the embrace of decay into the world of the living again. Your memories are hazy and you don't recognize any of these people, but they act like they're close to you? Like they love you? So you try to get your memories back, to act like you belong here, but everybody tries to forget you died. And you can't. It is omnipresent. And just trying to grapple with that fact pushes the people who "love" you away, and they're incapable of understanding, and they're so confused, what's wrong N̶̄̀O̶͛͗T̷̉́ ̷͋͝Y̴̎̌Ȍ̴̈U̸̓R NÄM̴̃͑E̵̾̇? And you just need them to understand, you aren't that person! You aren't! You don't know who that person is! You don't know why any of this is happening, but they're unwilling to bend, they keep insisting you are that person, your memories will come back, everything will be normal again, and you want to scream and cry and claw yourself open to show them you're different. Your existence as a being wholly separate from whoever you "used to be" is a sin unto itself. All you can do is scrabble for life and to them, you're killing whoever they loved to do it.
just. lots of fun in that concept, you know?

somewhere along the way, Percy being "dumb" to Annabeth's "smart" has become a genuine part of their dynamic where in the original series it was more like: Percy's impertinent and could be slow on the uptake because he's not a walking encyclopedia of greek myth in the way Annabeth is and she teasingly calls him "Seaweed Brain" in a way that's supposed to be light-hearted and affectionate but she doesn't actually think he's dumb
