Cory Muscara - Life cheat codes I know at 35 that I wish I knew at 25
The mind wants certainty. The heart wants connection. The soul wants truth. Being human is helping these three learn to dance together.
Fear says: "What if it doesn't work out? Your soul says, "It may not. And that's not the point. The point is who you will become in the process."
Self-care is not always TV and bubble baths. It's hard conversations, making amends, deep work, and breakups. Make sure your self-care is not simply ego-care.
You may not be ready to let go yet. You may need to first play out patterns of resistance until your system becomes disillusioned by the utility of holding on.
You might not need another productivity hack. You might need space to fall apart. To remember who you are when you're not simply trying to hold it all together.
Feeling stuck isn't about the situation you're in. It's about the reality you don't want to accept.
An interesting thing happens when you start to respect yourself. You become much more sensitive to others not respecting you, and much less tolerant of it.
Sometimes you need to hustle. Sometimes you need to hibernate. You're not a robot. Take your rest as seriously as you take your work.
Control doesn't protect you from pain. It prolongs it. The fear you're avoiding by trying to make everything perfect is the exact thing you need to face if you ever want to know peace.
Self-love is not something you develop. It's something you unwind back into, as you release the beliefs that have told you love has to be earned.
Your body often knows the truth before your mind gives you permission to trust it.
People pleasing is a trauma response disguised as being a good person.
The biggest killer of dreams is the fear we disguise as "being realistic."
Show me the ways you avoid stillness and I'll show you the patterns running your life.
You can't force clarity. The more you push yourself to know what to do, the more you trigger a fear state, and the less you'll be able to hear the whisperts of your heart.
You don't need to get married to be happy. You don't need to have kids to be happy. You don't need to be rich to be happy. You just need to be able to come back to an open heart despite all the reasons life gives you to close.
i'm not 35... but man, did i wish my 25-year-old heart heard this.

“…although you could not remember much, you did recall the day he had found you, for it was in a sense a second birth, the rest of your life a dark blur up until the moment you had opened your eyes to him. Him and the deep punctures in your side, which were blackened around the edges and wept red onto his turmeric-stained tunic; him and the kelp tangling around your throat, which crumbled away as soon as his palm lit upon the firm bone of your chest; him and the brine at the corners of your mouth, which dribbled down your chin as he pinched your nose shut and pressed his lips to yours, breathing life back into a sodden, weary heart that had no choice but to accept the offering.”

What if...
I start to post again after months (a year???) without explaining what happened to me, why I disappeared and my mental health in general?
It's so scary to come back knowing people worried about me and I disappointed them.
But I really don't wanna think about my life and the sims seem like a really good idea.
Ok?
