The Graphic Novel Conan the Barbarian: The Horn of Azoth was published with cover date of April 1990. The story was based on the original script Gerry Conway and Roy Thomas had developed for what eventually became the film Conan the Destroyer. Ross Branch gana la Etapa 2 del Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Kevin Benavides toma el control de la general con Cornejo y Quintanilla en el Top 5
El piloto de Botswana Ross Branch obtuvo su primera victoria de etapa como piloto de Hero Motosports al quedarse con la segunda etapa del Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Branch marcó un registro de 4 horas y 10 minutos para ganar el día por 39 segundos sobre Luciano Benavides y 41 segundos sobre Kevin Benavides, que es el nuevo líder de la clasificación general. El campeón del Dakar 2021 está teniendo un gran rally de consistencia, obteniendo dos terceros lugares hasta aquí que lo tienen liderando el rally por 4 minutos y 23 segundos sobre Ricky Brabec.
“Hoy ha sido una buena etapa para mí y estoy contento con el resultado final. Ha sido una etapa dura tanto física como mentalmente, porque sobre el kilómetro 50 paré para ayudar a Mike Docherty después de una caída. Llamé al helicóptero y esperé poco más de 20 minutos antes de partir de nuevo. Siempre es difícil recuperar la concentración después de algo así, pero pude mantener un buen ritmo y completar la etapa de manera segura. Se siente bien liderar la carrera, así que intentaré mantener este impulso mañana” comentó el nuevo puntero de la clasificación, el salteño Kevin Benavides, describiendo la situación de Michael Docherty, que era el líder de la general hasta ayer.
Nacho Cornejo subió a la tercera posición de la clasificación general luego de ser octavo en la etapa de hoy. El iquiqueño se encuentra a 5 minutos y 4 segundos de Benavides en la lucha por la victoria en este segundo rally del año.
“Me sentí muy bien con la moto, muy cómodo y creo que eso se notó en la conducción. Esta etapa dos del Abu Dhabi la tomé con buen ritmo y creo que fue bien. Pienso que he hecho una buena etapa; estamos bien en la general y en una buena posición de salida para mañana” comentó Nacho en la meta de la especial.
Por su parte, Pablo Quintanilla anotó la sexta posición en la especial de hoy, con lo que sube al quinto puesto de la clasificación general. El piloto chileno queda a 7 minutos y 26 segundos de Benavides.
“Esta segunda etapa ha sido un poco más rápida que ayer. La primera parte transcurría por valles de arena y la velocidad era muy alta. Hasta el repostaje no me he sentido nada cómodo con este terreno y luego sí que he podido ya rodar con más ritmo, con zonas técnicas de dunas y donde pude empujar un poco. Ha sido un buen día y la carrera está muy apretada. Abrir en este tipo de terreno puede perjudicarte mucho; ahora mismo tengo pilotos rápidos delante y detrás, lo que puede ser bueno para las etapas que quedan. Estos dos primeros días han sido muy exigentes físicamente, ahora vamos a intentar recuperar el cuerpo para la etapa de mañana” indicó Quintafondo en la meta del día.
Luciano Benavides ha subido al sexto puesto de la general, lo propio ha hecho Franco Caimi al octavo puesto.
Mañana están programados 255 kilómetros de especial en el desierto de Liwa.
