Casey was a terrible liar, which probably said a lot about him, but he still tried. Every single time, he tried. He tried to stay out of everyone’s way when he needed to blow off steam in less violent ways, of course, but... well. Smells lingered.

“What makes you think I got cigarettes on me?”

Raph paced around, checking out the place his bro was staying at, with a sour expression on his face.

“Oh yea, it makes perfectly sense. As a matter of fact, I was just here to ask if ya wanted us to bring your stuff over. Ya know in case you moved out for good?? I would call your phone, but ya left it at home!! So whats the deal??? Are you sulking or something?”

“Mom, don’t!”

       Shredder had come back for him.         Mikey wasn’t sure at which point he had passed out, but he was happy to find himself still breathing when he woke up, and he wasn’t anxious for The Foot to change this.        He didn’t want to leave his mom, but at the same time he didn’t want her rushing to his defense like this. On the other hand, he didn’t know if he could take another round of the same treatment he received before… assuming of course they didn’t plan to outright kill him here and now.        But what would they do to Orita if she fought back!?

            In his haze he gave mixed signals, clinging to the turtle who had placed herself between him and danger while hoarsely insisting she stay out of it.                   “Don’t fight them! I’ll be okay!”

O R I T A    snarled at the looming figure , her claws unsheathing as her body hunched over him protectively . she wasn’t going to back down anytime soon . her teeth bared and clenched as she witnessed shredder loom closer ,

“ Back away from MY SON ! YOU WILL NEVER TOUCH HIM AGAIN SAKI ! “

T H E   terrifying presence only chuckled darkly inching closer and closer blades bared ,

“ Perhaps we should test that with a small autopsy starting with you orita ! “

B L A D E S   launched at her body as the masked menace attacked , barely missing as she threw herself towards the floor in evasion .

“I… don’t really wanna talk about it… ”        Mikey shifted to drag himself across the floor of the cell, wincing in pain as his cuffed hands gripped stone and pulled his broken body forward inch by inch. A trail of smeared crimson marked his path out of the shadows, until eventually he stopped in front of Orita and laid his battered head upon her lap.

              “… m’sorry Mom”

" MICHELANGELO ! H - hey , i - it’s okay j - just br - ber - br - breathe . . .”

her eyes looked over her poor sons damaged form and she scrambled trying to collect as many cobwebs as she could as quickly as she could , doing her best to bandage the aching boy . her face pressed into his shoulder as she held him , rocking him with soft cries

“ I’m so sorry , my baby . . . th - they’ll NEVER touch you again ! “ 

she spoke in a sobbing snarl .

He was tired of avoiding looking at the family photo on the butsudan.

        He hated how it made him feel sad every time he walked into the dojo… which he had come to avoid more and more lately. So in an effort to force familiarity, he decided to light some incense and stare at it like Splinter used to do with the photo of Shen and Miwa.

                Michelangelo let out a squeak as he was startled by his brother, his heart jumping into his throat. He must have zoned out at some point, but if there was one thing for certain… it was that his plan had definitely backfired…

“Yo! Don, don’t scare me like that bro” Mikey said, voice deceivingly lighthearted as he rubbed tears away from his eyes and rose out of his kneeling position                       “you about gave a turtle a heart attack”

🔧  donnie was quiet for a moment, standing silent in the middle of the entry to the dojo, rustic eyes flicking off to the side before walking in a little more. he didn’t like seeing his younger brother cry at all but . .  maybe it was a good thing this time all things considered. a lot of them hold in their trauma’s or emotional messes so perhaps it was good.

wrinkling his snout he came forward before coming to a stop a little bit away from his brother, eye on him quite clear as he noted how his emotional state was, frowning only a tiny bit at his tone  --  it didn’t sound right for the wreck he looked to be.

it wasn’t genuine either. being closer to him than the rest sometimes meant that he was better at  picking out  when he was trying to deflect how he really was elsewhere but  .   .   he wasn’t going to fall for it.

❝    wasn’t my intent    ❞ he murmured, waving a hand for him to keep kneeled, ending up coming over to join him with a soft sigh, hands sitting on his thighs.  ❝    its okay you know.    ❞ he added, eyes stuck on the shrine dedicated to splinter && shen.

her angered words we’re abruptly cut off by a pain filled whine as she collapsed to her knees , her leg was shaking painfully and bandaged tightly . . . no doubt another ‘ lesson ‘

“Wh- why am I so... so d-different?”

It was a question the third son had often pondered as they grew. He was smarter than his brothers, in ways even he couldn’t fathom, and for some reason, that seemed to isolate him more than he ever wanted.

So he had decided to speak to the one turtle out of the lot of them that seemed to understand somewhat: his little brother.

As utterly horrible their S.O.R.D.I.D. experiences have been, Raph is kind of grateful that he has Mikey to share the memories with. They arent great, but at least he has someone who understands - and vice versa.

Mikey’s an incredible writer - his imagination helps. Raph is always down to read what he’s made, whether it be poetry, comics or prose.

When Mikey doesn’t focus enough in training to remember what Splinter literally just taught them, Raph stays behind and helps to teach him what they did. No matter how often.

Raph desperately goes to Mikey for help with cooking stuff. He’s decent at baking things, but making actual meals? No, he needs his lil bro for that.
