i lied actually. just realized i still had micron pens from literally like five years ago. i am fucking shocked they still work, wtf are these things made of? they've just been sitting on my desk for five years rotting away. well, whatever. finished mikoto.

it is odd, going back to art after not touching the subject for a long period of time. it feels like everything you do is worse, that you've missed your prime and the knowledge of how to draw slips through the cracks in your fingers the more you try to hang onto it.

i never learned how to draw characters. my art teachers were strictly against it, thus i only ever really learned realism. could shade a cube or any geometric shape in my sleep at this point, but thats not really helping me draw anime characters much, now is it?

and its especially frustrating having grown up with solely traditional art because it feels like it could never compare to what people post digitally now. well, art isn't a competition in the end, so i suppose it's useless to compare it so much, but you get what im saying, don't you? it's rare to look at a pencil piece of a character and have that same wow factor you get from digital art. not that people don't do it, of course, there are many many many talented artists out there that could draw with things that aren't even meant for art and create a masterpiece.

in the end, this is merely another drop in the bucket. an art piece everyone forgets about, myself included. i am glad i took the time out my day to do something like this, though, and i am unbelievably proud of myself for being able to post something like this publically. it is something i could have never dreamed of doing two years ago. now, im past the point of worrying-- who cares anymore? i like what i like, so i post what i like.

it is average -- maybe even below it -- but it is mine.
