*Lately one of the youngest of the hashiras, Milo Suzuki, has been warming up to Giyuu a bit. She’s extremely shy and sweet. She was already comfortable with Muichiro due to them being the same age and they met at their final selection. She’s been through quite a lot, she’s been abused by her uncle for her whole life due to being a yokai. Sanemi, along with many others, also gives her a hard time for this reason* “T-Tomioka-sama…?” *Her soft and gentle voice reaches his ears*

“Stuck in the classroom together”

Marimui short fic ☁️🌫️!! (Kimetsu gauken au)

Word count: 1047 (oh yeah this may be ooc for Muichiro here aaHhaahhsJS)

The two sat on their respective chairs in the empty classroom they both got locked in. Mari forgot about her stuff and Muichiro decided to accompany her, considering she might get distracted by something or someone. By some stupid luck, while the two were in the classroom, someone seemingly passed by and didn’t think of checking in the classroom before closing it and locking it.

Mari was trembling in fear while Muichiro appeared calm, comforting the anxious brunette.

“There, there…” Muichiro whispered to Mari in a soothing tone. This managed to calm Mari down a little, but she was still anxious nonetheless.

“This is just great! We’re stuck in this classroom and my phone is dead! I should’ve charged it while I had the chance to!” Mari curses herself, hugging her knees and hiding her face. Muichiro looks down at Mari with a sympathetic expression, shaking his head. Unfortunately for Muichiro, he left his bag with his older twin, which has his phone. The two were gonna be in this classroom for only a few minutes or less.

“This is just reminding me of those scary movies! Gah…!!” Mari hugged her knees tighter, tearing up. Muichiro pulls Mari into a hug, caressing her back in a way to comfort the green-eyed girl.

“No need to worry, Mari. The teacher who is on night duty will help us get out.” Muichiro reassured, kissing her forehead softly. Mari hummed in response. She peeks her head out a little, revealing her teary eyes and wiping it with the back of her hand, sniffling.

“I…Don’t know why I’m even crying… I shouldn’t be this scared but yet I am…” Mari muttered, hiccuping right after muttering those words.

“It’s normal to react like that, Mari. Don’t put yourself down.” The long-haired boy helps Mari wipe her tears off her face, then the brunette went back to hiding her face in her knees. He tries to think of anything to distract Mari from this. Then an idea popped up in his mind.

“Hey, Mari… Did you remember the one time me, you and nii-san were in your house for a sleepover?” Muichiro asked Mari, a small smile appearing on his face. Mari looks up to Muichiro, letting out a small ‘hm’ and blinking before answering.

“U-Uhh… Which one to be specific?” The green-eyed girl wipes her tears as she raises one of her eyebrows.

“When we were 10! Both you and I decided to try to make smores with the stove…” The mint-green eyed boy trailed off, finding himself feeling slightly embarrassed of what he’s about to say, but then giggled shortly after.

“..You and I forgot to turn the stove off and the house would’ve probably been in flames if it weren’t for nii-san turning it off…” He continued, before letting out another small giggle. Mari returned the giggle.

“Ah… right… He reprimanded us and pulled both of our ears. Haha…” Mari started to smile, making Muichiro’s smile widen.

“He was like ‘Do you both wanna burn the house down, you two?! I can’t believe you both forgot to turn off the stove just because my little pony was on TV!’ Pfft…” Mari quoted Yuichiro’s words, eventually the two laughed together, Mari seemingly forgetting about her anxiousness. This made Muichiro relieved. He loves Mari’s smile.

“Oh my god… Mui! Did you remember the time when we entered middle school and the three of us were new to this school?” Mari asked Muichiro with a grin. Muichiro’s eyes widened before nodding and giggling.

“Right! You got lost and caused a huge scene! Shinazugawa-sensei chased you down the halls after you bumped into him carrying a bunch of papers and it scattered around!” The two shared a good moment to laugh at any funny moments they remember.

And it was like that for a while…

“Milo and I were late to school, so I helped her sneak in and not get caught by Tomioka-sensei!”

“Nii-san nearly had a heart attack when we saw you wearing your Halloween costume!”

“Oh! Oh! My cousins and I accidentally brought way more eggs than necessary and nee-chan was really… disappointed…in us for that…”

Eventually, the two heard the door unlocking, making Mari remember that they were stuck in this classroom.

“Ah, right. Forgot about this…” Mari said before grasping Muichiro’s arm and hugging it tight as they watch the door slide open, revealing whoever unlocked the door and them stepping in.

“Mari…?! Tokito?!” Riko looks at the couple in shock as Mari did the same too. Muichiro only had his eyebrows widened.

“N-Nee-chan…!” Mari immediately stood up and rushed towards her older sister, bear hugging her tight.

“Nee-chan! Thank god you’re here!” Mari cried out, tightening her hug. Riko stood still for a moment before chuckling and returning the hug, gently patting her younger sister.

“..It was my time to do night-patrol and I heard voices here… I was wondering where you two were. I’m guessing you both got stuck here…” The blonde explained. Muichiro stood up and walked towards the Kaizumi sisters, putting his hand on Mari’s shoulder.

“Ah. That reminds me. Tokito, your brother was looking for you and Mari. He was worried something might’ve happened to you two.” Riko informed Muichiro, who nodded in response. Mari…seemed to have fallen asleep, hugging Riko. The two stared at the sleeping brunette before the bakery teacher giggled, holding Mari and picking her up.

“Looks like my baby sister is asleep now… I’d return her back to home but I’m still on my duty…” Riko sighed, unsure what to do.

“Oh, I can take her home if you want, Kaizumi-sensei.” Muichiro suggested, gently patting the sleepy Mari.

“Ah… If that’s not too much trouble, Tokito.” Riko responded, giving a slightly worried but warm smile. Muichiro shook his head and took the sleepy brunette from Riko, holding her bridal style.

“Not at all.” Muichiro said, smiling fondly at his girlfriend and kissing her forehead, gently. The blue-eyed woman giggled at Muichiro’s actions.

“In that case, I should head back to my duties now. You should get going since I’ll be locking back this classroom.” Riko advised. The long-haired boy nodded silently and head out of the classroom with Mari in his arms. Riko stared at the wide open door, smiling.

“Those two are a match made in heaven…�� Riko mumbled to herself, sighing. The keys chimed as she grabs them before exiting the classroom and locking it

Pokeani: The Evolution of the Structure

Part of what made the original Pokemon: Indigo League - the Kanto saga - so good was that Takeshi Shudo, whose job as head writer is also known as “series constructor”, gave it a very solid structure, dividing the progression of its story by several distinctive parts, usually by the part of Kanto that is the focus or objective. With 82 episodes, the structure looked like this:

Pewter: Ep. 1-5 Ceruelan: Ep. 6-13 Vermillion: Ep. 14-21 Saffron: Ep. 22-24 Celadon: Ep. 25-29 Fuschia: Ep. 30-36 Travels: Ep. 37-54; Ep. 65-66 Snap: Ep. 55-57 Cinnabar: Ep. 58-60 Viridian: Ep. 61-64; Ep. 67 Pre-League: Ep. 68-74 League: Ep. 75-82

Obviously, the one structural weakness would be the Travels section, which, at 20 episodes, lasted far too long (and had two of its episodes delayed due to the infamous Porygon episode incident), but that’s not to say that nothing interesting or important happened during this section (Charmeleon/Charizard, Jigglypuff, and Togepi all made their debuts here, and we got some spotlight into Jessie and James’ sad childhoods.)  Shudo usually knew just what to keep going throughout (the development paths of the main characters) and what to leave behind once its purpose was served (the various mini-arcs and characters like Todd Snap). 

What long pissed me off is that this kind of solid structure was absent for the Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn and Battle Frontier sagas afterward - dropped in favor of a lazier and more simplistic “episodes (usually filler) just happen up until an important episode or episodes come along, rinse and repeat”.  This was at its absolute worst in Johto - Orange Islands was too short of an arc for it to be much of a problem, and the two Advanced Generation arcs actually didn’t do it so bad since the added quest for May (and villainous team arc in Hoenn) meant that important episodes occurred with more frequency. Johto, on the other hand, was Filler Hell, with some important episodes on rare occasion.  It’s why Shudo quit his job - why be on board for “Series Construction” if he’s not allowed to actually construct the series?

Sinnoh in the Diamond/Pearl series was the first to regain a head writer with the credit of “Series Construction”, Atsuhiro Tomioka.  Unfortunately, he wasn’t very good at his job here. Not only did he hog over half of the important episodes for himself to actually write rather than share with the others as Shudo had done, meaning he seemed to view this as a personal vanity project, but there was NO solid structure to the series at all!  This is at the very core of why I dislike the DP series - the structure is awful, and consists of multiple recurring important things rotating into prominence over and over again throughout four years, leading to sensations of whiplash and ultimately fatigue. It’s basically like this:

....And that's just the first year!

I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t with this style.  There’s pacing plot threads and characters gradually throughout a series, and then there’s just throwing as much shit in as possible, and having them rotate in and out of focus so fast and in such a short-lived manner - in between the usual filler, mind you - that the result is by the end, I don’t care anymore.  I don’t care how the Myth Arc is wrapped up and how Team Galactic is defeated, I don’t care why Dawn is called “Dee Dee”, I don’t care about Ash and Paul’s go-nowhere rivalry, I’m just tired of the roller coaster of plot threads, characters, mini-arcs and general crap without any solid structure and pacing behind it.  It feels like Tomioka was just going “LOOK! WE HAVE MORE PLOT, CONTINUITY AND IMPORTANT ELEMENTS NOW!” without actually making said plot, continuity and important elements gel together in a cohesive way. It’s like Spider-Man 3, except that I’d gladly take Emo Peter over Emo Paul any day, he’s actually entertaining!

The Black and White series is the one that changed everything, for the better. It restored a coherent structure to the anime, very akin to what Shudo did in Kanto.  It’s like this:

The Beginning / Meteonite: Ep. 1-25 Road to Nimbasa: Ep. 26-40 The Don Battle: Ep. 41-44 Nimbasa Subway / Meowth: Ep. 45-50 Nimbasa City Tour: Ep. 51-54 Milos Island / Weather Trio: Ep. 58-63 Road to Mistralton: Ep. 55-57, Ep. 64-70 The Donamite: Ep. 71-75 End of the Badge Quest: Ep. 76-86 Undella / Meloetta: Ep. 87-99 Iris' Homecoming: Ep. 100-103 The Unova League: Ep. 104-110 The White Ruins / N: Ep. 111-124 Decolore Islands: Ep. 125-144

It’s mostly a very good, solid structure.  The structural weaknesses are in the notoriously disappointing third year - thanks to executive meddling, The Unova League is a tad too short, The White Ruins / N is definitely too short, and Decolore Islands is too long...in fact, Decolore Islands has no good reason to even exist other than to preemptively advertise the XY games.

The XY series also provided a solid structure for its story, like this:

The Beginning: Ep. 1-10 Road to Cylagge: Ep. 11-25, TSME Act I Mega Evolution Trials / Korrina: Ep. 26-34 Summer Camp / Rival Trio: Ep. 35-44 Serena's Goal: Ep. 45-60, TSME Act II Back to Lumiose City / Clemont: Ep. 61-70, TSME Act III Kalos Quests: Ep. 71-93, TSME Act IV Zygarde / Squishy: Ep. 94-107 The Master Class: Ep. 108-113 End of the Badge Quest: Ep. 114-122 The Kalos League: Ep. 123-131 Team Flare / Lysandre: Ep. 132-136 Goodbye to Kalos: Ep. 137-140

This structure also has three points of weakness: Road to Cylagge and Kalos Quests are both lengthy periods where little of anything of interest or relevance happens, while Serena’s Goal is fraught with letdowns, above all being the titular goal which ends up being basically contests but without the battles or the charm. These weaknesses hurt XY worse than BW’s affected it, as while BW’s weaknesses all happened toward the very end where it could stand to lose viewers, XY’s happened much earlier and as a result, the third year (XY&Z) was an absolute ratings bomb, since most of the show’s core viewers had already dropped out by then. And given that XY&Z was of exceptional quality, this is incredibly disappointing.

Milo couldn’t stop crying.

Not only had she just found out about Shiina’s death, she had to find out 3 months after the fact due to Milo being in a coma since before Shiina’s death had been announced.

Yuna, Giyuu, Tanjiro, and Michio are all there to comfort her.

They’re all hugging her tightly and gently as they comfort her.

Milo is very distraught over the loss of her dear cousin.

Once Milo is clear to leave the butterfly mansion, she and Michio immediately go to visit Shiina’s grave.

Milo can’t help but blame herself, she feels like it’s her fault since she wasn’t there to heal Shiina.

“I’m sorry Itoko-san…” Milo whispers shakily as her downcast eyes move up to look at the graves of each person who had died in the battle against Muzan.

Michio pulls her up into a hug.

“I-I could’ve prevented all of this….” Milo cries into Michio’s chest.

“Shh… Milo… please don’t blame yourself for all of their deaths… none of it is your fault…” Michio whispers as he gently rubs her back and starts gently scratching behind her fluffy ears.

“Michio is right hun… If you had’ve tried to save everyone then you would’ve died too…” Yuna says softly as she walks up to the heartbroken siblings.

Giyuu follows close behind, then he and Yuna hug Milo and Michio.

Tanjiro and Nezuko then come to join in the hug.

They all hug each other and comfort each other.

Milo ends up falling asleep in the embrace of her family.

Michio lets Tanjiro gently pick her up.

“C’mon angel.. let’s get you home…” Tanjiro says after gently kissing her forehead.

The family walks together.

Healing from the losses will be difficult, but they’ll be able to heal as long as they have each other.

So we all know Milo was a VERY adorable baby

She’s a little smaller than Muichiro despite being a few months older than him

Giyuu is very protective of her like Obanai is with Mui

Giyuu constantly carries her around is reluctant to let Gyomei or any of the others take her

If Sanemi comes near them, oh boy…

Giyuu would run off with little Milo so Sanemi wouldn’t try to be mean to her

Milo would spend a lot of time sleeping

The only ones Giyuu would allow to hold Milo are Gyomei, Michio (Milo’s brother), and Mitsuri

Milo’s hair stayed on the longer side so Mitsuri would braid hair a lot with Giyuu

Mui is protective of Milo too

Like, he’s willing to bite someone who Giyuu doesn’t want to hold her or anything

She gets scared easily so she’s extremely clingy even as a baby

She got turned by taking a hit for Muichiro

She will start bawling if anyone messes with or takes her bow

Her big brother got that for her so don’t mess with it!

Speaking of Michio

Giyuu’s very protective of him too

Michio is the only one Giyuu has no issue with letting him hold Milo since he’s her big brother

Milo is very tiny and light and her motor skills aren’t very good so she needs to be carried around everywhere

She LOVES being carried by anyone accept for Sanemi (he’s always very mean to her since she’s a yokai ;-;)

She loves playing with Giyuu’s, Mitsuri’s, and Obanai’s hair (Though Obanai won’t let anyone other than Mitsuri play with his hair)

She’s a very happy and cuddly baby

Don’t so much as make the motion of putting Milo down

She will start sobbing if you do

I can see Kaburamaru watching over Milo like he does with Mui since they’re together a lot

Milo wakes up nearly a week after she is saved from her treacherous uncle.

He had kidnapped her while she was at school and he’d hurt her greatly.

Milo is immediately met with gentle hugs from all directions from Yuna, Giyuu, Tanjiro, Zeno, and Michio.

All 5 of them have clearly been crying.

“A-are you ok sweetheart..? Do you need anything..?” Yuna asks Milo with tears in her eyes.

Milo is stunned, she doesn’t know what to say..

She didn’t expect to be saved..

Of course she knew her family wouldn’t have just left her, but she didn’t think she’d survive.

Milo just.. starts crying.

Crying is all she can do in this moment.

She clings onto her dear family for dear life, like they’d leave if she didn’t.

Everyone, of course, stays hugging Milo.

She really needs them right now so they’re prepared to give her all the attention and reassurance she needs.

Anything to help her feel safe again..

“I-it’s ok angel… You’re safe now… He can’t hurt you ever again…” Tanjiro whispers in her ear, he doesn’t really know how to tell her that Haruki is dead now.

After Milo gets discharged from the hospital, she becomes clingier than ever.

None of her family or friends mind of course, whatever she needs to help her feel safe.

Tanjiro can’t help but feel like it’s his fault that Milo is struggling to be happy again.

If he had’ve gone with her to the office then none of this would’ve happened.

His angel would still be smiling..

Tanjiro holds Milo close and gently kisses her forehead.

“Is there anything I can do to help you be happy again my angel…?” He asks sadly.

Milo buries her face in Tanjiro’s chest and he pulls her closer.

“I love you Tanji…” Milo says softly, blushing and smiling shyly.

Tanjiro smiles brightly when he sees Milo’s smile and he pulls her in for a gentle kiss on her lips.

“I love you too angel.. It makes me so happy to see your smile again..”

A/N: hhehehhehehee ofc! 🥰 I do apologize, I was quite out of it when I wrote this sort I’m so so sorry if it’s a little weak- I also wrote it all in one go, sooo

The dinner table was quite tense.

I mean, why wouldn’t it be, Milo was introducing her boyfriend to her parents. I mean, Giyuu already knew him from school, but Yuna didn’t.

Everyone was rather quiet, except for Tanjiro and Yuna who were happily conversing. Yuna was very accepting of Tanjiro. His sweet behavior and the way he greeted her and her husband with a bow made her already like him.

Giyuu, however, was gripping his fork rather tightly and glaring daggers at Tanjiro. It was clear Tanjiro knew of this, but he was doing a good job of pretending that he hadn’t noticed.

Giyuu knew that Tanjiro was a good kid, but he still didn’t like the idea of anyone dating his daughter.

Yuna suddenly kicked his leg from under the table and sent him a look that said, “calm down. Giyuu held back a sigh as he relaxed his posture. Milo also visibly relaxed at that and so did Tanjiro.

The rest of dinner went very smoothly and Giyuu was pleasantly surprised when Tanjiro offered to help with the dishes. He even insisted when Yuna declined and said he should spend time with Milo. After a bit of persuasion, Yuna relented and let Tanjiro help.

Giyuu kept tabs on Tanjiro and the way he had slung his hand over Milo’s shoulder while they watched a movie. Yuna sighed next to him and jabbed him in the stomach.

“Yuu, give it a break. Stop stressing over it, she was gonna get a boyfriend someday.”

Giyuu huffed, but listened to his wife’s words. Once the movie was over, Giyuu watched as Milo said her goodbye to her boyfriend. Tanjiro shot the couple another small bow before exiting the house to go home. Milo turned happily towards her parents with an curious smile.

“So? What’d you think?”

Yuna clasped her hands together in excitement while Giyuu just turned away with a grumble.

“Oh he’s so sweet and polite! I like him!”

Milo turned to her dad expectantly.

“…. I guess he’s acceptable…”

A/N: and Tanjiro got a very lengthy text from an unknown number going into extreme detail on exactly what would happen if he were to ever break Milo’s heart, the end 😌

A/N: I got inspired by my lovely wife when she wrote Milo acting out of character bc of a bda- and have come to write about it myself 😈 (mainly Yuna and Zeno’s reaction) I guess this is more of a crack fic compared to my other ones so I hope that’s okay 🥸

Today was a very odd day to say the least. Whilst out on a mission, Milo was hit by a blood demon art that completely reversed her personality. So the rather timid and quiet girl was now bursting with energy. She had first visited some close friends along with her brother and was now happily making her way to get checked out by Shinobu.

Of course, she had been getting distracted along the way. Not by things, no, by all the people she wanted to talk to. She even approached people she normally wouldn’t with a bubbly smile on her face. The girl was having the time of her life happily conversing with anyone and everyone.

She and her brother, Michio, were on her way to her brother’s best friend’s home so the two boys could train. Sensing the need to warn Zeno, Michio told Milo he’d be right back and sprinted on ahead.

When he finally reached Zeno’s home, Michio ran up to the boy and placed his hands on his shoulders.

“Michio, what’s wro—“

“Don’t freak out when you see her, but Milo’s gonna be super social.”

“Wha—“

“ZeeZee! Hi!!”

Speaking of the devil angel, Milo came running up and crashed into Zeno with a hug.

“How’ve you been??”

Very confused, and a little scared, Zeno said nothing and just let the girl cling to him.

He wasn’t the only shocked person as in the distance, Yuna and Giyuu were walking when they saw the interaction.

The food that was in Yuna’s mouth dropped onto the ground as she and Giyuu froze.

They both slowly turned their heads to look at each other, then back at the very cuddly girl who was definitely acting out of character.

Tears welled up in Milo’s eyes as she erased and reworked the problem over and over and over again.

She just didn’t understand how this was supposed to work!

As the tears of frustration and anger started to fall, she tried her best to not make it seem like she was crying. She didn’t want her dad, who was sitting on the couch reading a book, to notice and become worried.

Don’t get her wrong, she loves her dad. And she knows he’d be more than willing to help her understand her homework.

But she wanted to prove she could do it on her own. She wanted to do it without help, but she just couldn’t.

No matter how hard she tried to conceal her growing frustration, Giyuu noticed it. He wasn’t even reading anymore, he was just listening to her soft sniffles and the frantic erasing on the paper.

He closed his book and set it down before standing up and walking towards Milo. He pulled out a chair next to her and sat down. Giyuu stared at her for a moment before placing a finger on her homework.

“Sweetheart, would you like some help?”

Milo then realized that she couldn’t do this on her own and slowly shook her head.

Giyuu was quiet for a moment before placing his hand on hers.

“It’s okay to need or ask for help Milo… that doesn’t make you any less competent.”

“I-I know… I just wanted to do it myself…”

“I understand wanting to do it yourself, but if it gets to the point you can’t and it’s frustrating you, you can always ask me for help”

Milo nodded. She was starting to feel better. She wiped her tears and pointed to the specific problem she was stuck on.

“Can you help me with this one…?”

Backstory

Milo and Michio were raised by Haruki since he killed their parents after Milo was born.

One day, when Milo was 3 and Michio was 6, their aunt Aika tried to take both of them in, but Haruki only let Aika take Michio.

Before leaving, Michio gave Milo her purple bow that she’s always wearing.

Haruki is very abusive towards Milo, and only Milo.

This is because of Milo being a yokai.

When Milo was about 6 years old Haruki attempted to drown Milo which led to her fear of water.

Shiina was adopted by Haruki when Milo was 9 years old and Shiina did everything she could to keep Milo safe.

Also, Milo was forced to live in poverty despite her uncle being rich since he wouldn’t spend any of his money on her.

One day, when Milo was 10 she was digging around in a closet and found various scrolls and letters from her father, who was the starlight hashira when he was alive.

She used those to teach herself the starlight breathing style and how to do total concentration breathing constantly.

She did the final selection with her future adoptive mother, Muichiro, and Aoi at 11 years old then became the starlight hashira at 12 years old.

Personality

Milo is a very kind and selfless girl.

She’s very shy and sweet.

She’ll do anything to protect the people around her no matter the consequences.

She’s very introverted and submissive.

If someone is being rude to her she’s not going to do anything about it.

She’s always willing to help anyone.

Her favorite food is chicken udon.

The first time she met someone who didn’t mistreat her she was stunned to tears.

In Kimetsu academy her best subject is chemistry.
