Minecraft skulk is so fucked up as a concept. It spreads by consuming dead creatures, meaning it is some sort of corpse-goop that also spreads onto natural matter like dirt and stone. Just imagine how nasty it feels to even be close to it, how it smells of immence amount of death that happened over literal ages... You step into it and feel restless souls creeping up your spine, as they whisper to you to be quiet, to grant them this peace in silence.

Someone should post the “he’s named after the last thing you ate” meme but with actual Minecraft mobs, and then use a name tag on the creature. Added bonus: the last thing you ate only counts what the player ate last

i feel like more people should appreciate the new(ish??) minecraft vex design, not only because it gives them more emotion, character and also looks adorable but it also makes me think about them lore wise (not that i know anything about minecraft lore) specifically to do with allays

the fact that allays are found in pillager outposts is so interesting. why are they in cages?? what are they even there for?? what do the pillagers want from them??

vexes and allays designs are so so similar and that makes me think of three things:

do the pillagers take the allays design and use it to create similar creatures, almost like holograms or poltergeists, used to torment and attack the player. instead of being an actual allay, they are just based off of them and twisted to fit the needs of their creators. meaning they end up more like a distant cousin than a sibling, seeing as the allays would belong to nature and the vexes to science

but what if vexes are actually poltergeists or some kind of vengeful spirit?? minecraft is not a game devoid of the supernatural after all, if they have zombies and skeletons why would ghosts be such a stretch?? they can phase through walls and are ridiculously annoying to get rid of once they have targeted a player, what if every vex was once an allay that died in vain and now they decide they have to enact some kind of revenge?? what if they were similar to zombies?? braindead beasts unable to think for themselves ultimately meaning that they end up being loyal to the things that brought them back to (almost) life

and the last and most plausible thing, are vexes allays but turned? did the pillagers somehow find a way to warp and change an existing creature maybe (this is a whole other ridiculous theory) similar to the way they were changed from normal villagers to what they are now (witches specifically but also pillagers, evokers, vindicators ect) did they do this out of spite or simply because they can??

this is gonna be a part 1 to a longer post - but like a lot of the minecraft community (at least the vocal Gamers on the Internet) are... very. extrinsically motivated. and they demand a lot from the game. I think they remember when they were young and felt the game had so much to do, when they were making the experiences themselves with their own creativity and now they expect everything to have a deep meaningful use. Frankly, I don't think things in minecraft need to be useful - I think most of the people on here can likely resonate with that. A mob simply being cute and not having practical use cases is nice. a new material thats mainly for decoration is nice See, I think. Mojang trying to pander to extrinsically motivated players who need a clear use... just leads to kinda awkward like. people get the wrong message. they get the message that mojang wants to make something with lots of uses and are failing at making it useful, when mojang just wants to add something thats... well, fun! and gives it a practical use where it makes sense (yes, copper is a great example) Of course, things can be given use over time, but I don't think pressure should be put on everything to be useful. I voted glow squid because generally speaking, stuff from votes doesn't go all that deep, its something that improves the world in a simple way by existing. are foxes useful? Nah, not really. So I thought... well, glow squids seem very fun to see, bioluminescence is cool. Didn't really care if they didnt have a use, in fact that made them better to me - a blank canvas where you can do anything with them Frankly though? I wish they didnt do ANYTHING with them. glowing signs... cmon, that couldve been done with glowstone dust. Same goes for shoehorned "uses" for the phantom. phantom membranes... well, I guess they're probably what let the phantom fly around... so i GUESS it makes sense to repair... the pair of bug wings from a dimension you dont find them in slow falling couldve just been from brewing feathers :/ but yknow, people dont like "useless" stuff being in the game (because they think mojang is lazy and bad game designers) people dont really get what the goal of minecraft is. anyways, on that note. allays are not better than other collection methods lmao but THEY ARE CUTE. I really wanted to just get this off my chest - I have more to say. but tl;dr is if we use the puddles/oceans method in terms of depth. people dont like seeing just. decorative little puddles? so mojang saysd okay this is a pond. but its a puddle. its totally fine that its a puddle, but they pretend it isnt just .... for what? to appease people who want everything to be useful? people say they miss old mc updates, and yknow what? yknow what i miss from them? when things weren't deeply designed, lol 1.20 is a great update so far, good blend of carefully designing stuff and also just. throwing random stuff in because why not.

you know what i wish had happened with fireflies? make it possible to put a firefly in a glass bottle (kinda like fish in a bucket) and it function as a holdable light source. because the main issue im having with the deep dark is not being able to place a torch because it could summon the warden, making it a bit too dark and i end up using a fullbright texture pack because its not really an added level of difficulty, its just Annoying because its light enough to see a bit, but Not Enough. idk, dynamic light is one of my favorite optifine features and i dont think Every light source should give off light but it'd be cute to take a little bottle of firefly into the deep dark to get a bit more light while you avoid the warden and also certain death

if you mix fermented spider eye and glow ink sacs, do you get invisible ink? fermented spider eyes corrupt potion effects, and can change night vision into invisibility so it'd make sense that mixing glowing ink and f. spider eyes would make the ink invisible, or at least hard to read

sonic, tails and sage have a minecraft server. it's mostly the three of them but some other friends get invited onto it on occasion. at it's core it's honestly just tails and sage being huge mc nerds and building complicated redstone shit, mob farms, and other huge shit and sonic is mostly there because his presence is the only way to get tails and sage to interact at all
