Beyond the Book Learning/New Age Learning Curriculum
Marvin Minksy says, "You don't comprehend anything until you learn it more than one way," explains how several methods help and improve the knowledge a student gains. Even though their academic knowledge may be restricted to the classroom, they are always learning new things. As a result, the school as a whole may act as a source of learning, increasing students' depth of knowledge and breadth of intellect.
This education starts very early on. Humor may be recognized by infants as early as the third month of life. It increases self-assurance, fosters adaptability, and sharpens analytical abilities. On July 1, "International Joke Day," one should make an effort to inject humor into kids' schooldays in order to create a supportive environment for learning. It not only enhances memory retention but also boosts dependability and reliability. Education is a serious endeavor, but a learner-friendly environment is created when fun and teaching are balanced.

The control of stress and anger issues, which prevents them from developing into serious disorders, is another benefit of promoting humor. Simple ideas to include humor into school life include organizing a humorous day where everyone wears mismatched socks, sharing personal tales, supporting clever literature, and setting up a bulletin board for jokes and cartoons submitted by kids.
Students may be taught to manage garbage properly and care for the environment everywhere they go by extending learning outside of the classroom. In India, the celebration of "Van Mahotsav," a woodland festival, ushers in the month of July. Students should be educated about the present climatic circumstances and the carbon imprint that their actions leave behind in addition to continuing the practice of planting trees.
Spending time in nature has a calming influence on our welfare, as demonstrated by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, or "forest bathing." It entails immersing oneself in a natural setting that stimulates all of the senses. This raises thankfulness and pleasure while decreasing blood pressure and stress-inducing substances like cortisol. The secret to a productive session is mindfulness, which, when introduced in early infancy, would assist adolescents and adults better manage their emotions. They would develop self-control, display less anxiousness, and be more effective at dealing with obstacles and solving issues without being unduly motivated by their emotions. At every stage of life, being in tune with nature has many positive consequences, and starting early would only have a multiplicative impact.
Coincidentally, "International Plastic Bag Free Day" occurs on July 3rd, also during the first week. By taking a few easy steps, schools may effectively control trash, starting small but having a huge influence on the next generation.
To put this strategy into practice, aim to avoid creating any waste at all. We are all too acquainted with concepts like making vermicomposting bins, refilling printer cartridges rather than buying new ones, and recycling old envelopes. The containers in which food is served or the lunch boxes of pupils are two more items that frequently go overlooked. In the event where non-toxic materials such as bamboo, glass, etc. are not practical possibilities, bioplastic manufactured from maize
Acceptable biodegradable substitutes for plastic to petroleum. The less damage we will be doing to the environment, the more widely they may be used.
The learners' cognitive growth is also greatly influenced by environmental awareness and sustainable living. They become more aware of their propensity for consumerism when they practice minimalism. This lowers the possibility of depressive episodes and encourages a life free of stress, making it easier to travel with purpose in the future. Once the students are familiar with waste management techniques, they will use them at home as well, giving the school a more significant goal to achieve.
Thus, the knowledge that kids gain during their years in school guarantees the basis for their future lives. One must make sure that the knowledge they acquire is not just pertinent but also comprehensive if they want to ensure that it will be useful throughout their lives. Schools must review their policies on vocational education, technical and entrepreneurial skills, and providing the students with the knowledge to help in future work as "Youth Skills Day" draws near on July 15. The National Education Policy 2020 mentions this as well, with an eye on the whole growth and upbringing of future generations.
India has a rich tradition of arts and crafts, which is slowly disappearing as a result of technology. Vocational education must be blended into regular education in order to recognize the worth of labor and protect the charm of traditional artisanship. Students who are exposed to practical labor at a younger age will be accustomed to it and be more likely to find job in a world that is becoming more unstable by the day.
Vocational training gives learners a revitalized sense of self-worth in addition to providing a means of support and money. It also fosters independence and self-sufficiency. It would promote creativity, which is necessary for development and growth in the modern world.
This does not, however, imply that technical expertise is not also necessary. We need to be able to use technology as a resource, not as something we are forced to use. Students need to be taught how to use it effectively from an early age in order to prevent misuse. They can only be a value to society if technology works to their advantage. In terms of the availability of raw materials for artists, direct linkages to the market, understanding of customer wants, etc., technology could well be the solution to maintaining our legacy.
However, learning shouldn't be restricted to supporting oneself and one's own future. The student must really experience the thrill of giving, acting out of empathy rather than thinking of it as doing someone a favor. This would have a greater impact since they would subsequently willingly help the less fortunate. One must realize that there are several methods for offering this help, though. Participating in outreach programs, performing community service, holding fundraisers, and working with NGOs are a few well-known techniques. Students must also understand the influence they may have on a person in need by just being there and actively listening to them.
Making pupils productive, useful, and contributing members of society and the environment is hence education's ultimate purpose. One must organize this generation in order to
make every effort to guarantee the learner's overall growth. Schools have the ability to mold these children's fragile brains and have a significant effect on their lives. There is no question that if utilized, the world might be improved.
