And it's a sitcom...

I was speechless for fifteen minutes straight after watching the promo. I can't believe it's going to end 🥺, I can't express my gratitude in words to this show. During the toughest time of my life, Young Sheldon came as a blessing. I'm not saying it cured my depression, but it did help to live with it. It helped me to solve numerous problems I was struggling with, for example, with the mental blocks during exams (yips), trust issues with religional beliefs, struggles with discerning reality, university projects, recognition issues etc. With Sheldon, sometimes with Mary, sometimes with Missy, sometimes with Paige, sometimes with Dr. Sturgis, I resolved those getting inspired by the show.

And now it's going to end, and George is going to...die? I felt so relieved after they retconned his cheating case, but at the same time, it made his passing more melancholic. It reminded me of the worst day of my life when I lost my own father, the person I endear the most in this entire world. Seeing Sheldon sitting like a numb stone, Missy and Mary burst into tears I felt so heartbroken. I knew it was going to happen, we all knew already the spoiler, but it still hard to take when it triggers your own trauma. And coincidentally, I was exactly Sheldon and Missy's age when my father left me. So, although it was the mother's day yesterday, I was only thinking about my father and crying over him as the wound become alive.

Anyway, thank you so much the production team of Young Sheldon for giving us some precious moments in such rough time. Thank you all the actors, scriptwriters, directors, everyone. I'm definitely gonna miss Dr. Sturgis, Sheldon, Missy, and Paige a lot 🥺.

El joven Sheldon – Temporada 1 (Young Sheldon)

Voy a aprovechar que acabo de escribir sobre The Big Bang Theory para hablar de su spin-off “El joven Sheldon”.

El joven Sheldon sigue la dinámica de The Big Bang Theory: 22 capítulos de 25 minutos aproximadamente y que cuentan la infancia de nuestro protagonista estrella “Sheldon”.

No sólo lo conoces más a él… sino que también conoces a toda su familia y comprendes algunas referencias que Sheldon ha hecho sobre ellos a lo largo de Big Bang. Si eres muy fan de Big Bang pronto le cogerás el gusto a esta comedia cuyos protagonistas son: Mary Cooper (madre de Sheldon), George Cooper (padre), Georgie (hermano), Missy (melliza de Sheldon) y, por último, la sonada “Meemaw” (abuela de Sheldon).

Creo que han hecho un trabajo espectacular con el guion y reparto de esta serie. Todo es correcto y todo encaja al milímetro con las referencias que Sheldon hace. Además, una de las cosas que más me gusta es que Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper adulto) sea el narrador de la historia.

No hay capítulo en el que no te rías, no hay personaje al que detestes más que a otro. Todos te enamoran poco a poco con su estilo y su forma de ser. No podría elegir un personaje favorito, ni siquiera Sheldon: me gustan todos por igual.

Aunque el centro de la serie y de cada capítulo siempre sea Sheldon, me gusta que también haya capítulos que giren en torno a sus padres, sus hermanos o su abuela Meemaw. Meemaw, con quien Sheldon tenía una relación la mar de peculiar, es un personaje magnífico, una de las más graciosas. Me ha encantado el hecho de que el final de temporada se haya centrado mucho en ella y en su anecdótica vida amorosa.

Me gustaría resaltar el hecho del parecido casi imposible entre Zoe Perry y Laurie Metcalf. No es sólo el hecho de que Zoe Perry le de vida a la madre de Sheldon de una manera fabulosa, sino que viendo simultáneamente ambas series llegas a pensar que se trata de la misma persona. Encantada con este personaje.

No puedo extenderme mucho hablando de los demás… del que menos se sabe es del padre de Sheldon. Solo conocemos le hecho de que murió, porque lo repiten en varias ocasiones en The Big Bang Theory.

Georgie es un hermano bastante tonto y flipado, pero se le coge cariño y se le ve el lado sensible en algún que otro momento.

Missy… bueno, Missy es sencillamente adorable y graciosa. La futura hija que todos desearíamos tener.

¡Hasta la futura segunda temporada pequeños Sheldonianos!
