don't get me wrong, i have fun watching the derby, but i do wish mlb had more skills competitions like the nhl
i wanna see guys trying to be the most accurate cannon from right field or being the fastest from first to third or lay down the best bunt or, idk, be the best sunflower seed spitter, i don't care. i just want more than moonshots

Miles apparently got to meet with the flight crew of the flyover at the 2022 MLB All-Star Game and I just love that so much 😍

I can’t help it the baseball all star game is like a bad middle school musical to me. I’m sitting nervously anticipating my awkward loser son who I love so much to say exactly 2 lines and stumble during curtain call but im also applauding nodding proudly for everyone else’s loser son because we’re trying to make this a good memory for everyone even though my loser son is better and specialer and looks more handsome

They should have sent Miggy
How bad are my Detroit Tigers this year ...? I could throw the numbers at you, they key one being their win/loss record: 39 and 50.
Or I could point out that the player who represented the Tigers in Tuesday night's All Star Game (the National League won, 3-2) was pitcher Michael Lorenzen, whose record for the season so far is 2 wins, 6 losses, with an earned-run average of 4.25 (he was oh-for-6 in June with an ERA of 5.30.
MLB requires representation from each of the 30 teams in the league and evidently Lorenzen is the best we've got. He's our All Star.
I would argue that the Tigers should have sent Miguel Cabrera. Sure, Miggy's offensive production this year (.245 batting average with one dinger and 14 runs batted in) is pitiful.
But it's the final year of an all-star career for Cabrera. The July classic game should have been part of Miggy's farewell tour

I’d like to use my monthly baseball post allowance, please.
I genuinely wish I could go back in time to the night the Braves announced they had let go of Dansby Swanson and tell all the Braves fans that were openly weeping and complaining about how “cheap” the organization is and tell them that the man who replaced him is going to be a starter for the 2023 MLB All Star Game. Not only that — but Dansby doesn’t even place in the top 5 in final votes.
We’re gonna be fine, kids. We’re gonna be just fine.
