I'm not sure how to feel about the hours long wiki rabbit hole I found myself in for research for my kon fic

On one hand, I have a lot of ideas about what I saw there

On the other hand... dc lore is extremely whack

I just spent the last like hour, watching OSP Red's videos on Aphrodite, Hermes and Dionysius and I love it so much I wanna see if I can add it to all my current planning for pjo wips bc tbh I really hate that "western civilization started with the greeks" and the western civilization idea in general so I'll be throwing that in the trash thank you very much.

Things like Aphrodite and Dionysius aren't originally greek tho they just chill there most of the time, and also, Hermes is not going anywhere bc his symbol is very much everywhere so he's the least likely to Fade from all the olympians, are very likely to be included in my aus.

I'm gonna see what other myths videos from Red I can watch to include

What if the Lethe erased everything?

I've been thinking how does Nico and Bianca know they're siblings? I mean, they were dunked in the Lethe and then shoved in the Lotus Casino so probably, they only know they're siblings bc they were told so or something (by Alecto? or maybe Hades??) right after the Lethe

Then i thought, what if they didn't know?

Straight out of the Lethe, they're told their names and who they are but it doesn't occur to anyone that Bianca and Nico might not remember/realize they're siblings

They're never meant to remember what happens at the banks of the Lethe river anyway, so when they're separated as soon as Alecto drops them off at the Lotus Casino, they split up and quickly loose each other. Not realizing they were supposed to stick together

(After that I only have a general vibe for each?)

Bianca still joining the hunters, loving having a family so long after her mother's death but still feeling off for some reason

Not dying on that quest to free Artemis, bc why would she need to steal a Hades figurine to make up with a brother she doesn't have?

Spending years slowly figuring out her powers and realizing her memory had been messed with but never trying too hard to remember. She had a new family that needs her anyway

All the glimpses of memory she gets, show things she cannot have anymore. A mother, a life in Venice, being a normal mortal girl...

Its very painful for her to realize, against her will sometimes, what she used to have

What she tried to ignore comes back into sharp focus when she gets to see for the first time, the infamous Ghost King. A half-brother of hers, that'd actually got their dad to help during the battle of manhattan

A few years older than her and dressed in all black, he looked as serious and unyielding as she always imagined their dad to be

He gazes back at her with black sleepless eyes

All fo the sudden, she remembers that's Nico. Her little brother. Who used to follow her around all day when they were kids and show such love for life

Who she had refused to remember and seek out for years.

She cries

On the other hand...

When a satyr brought Nico back to something called camp half-blood, it had been the best day of his life

He ran around, cheerfully babbled to anyone that would hear about how things compared to his mythomagic cards and stuck with the Stoll brothers, who loved getting him into and out of trouble with them

It was amazing. And not being alone for the first time in months was good too

It soured when, during a capture the flag game, he accidentally summoned a skeleton

He loved it and was ready to show off to everybody. Hades was probably his dad then!

Only to turn around and see everyone's horrified expressions

Most campers treated him as if he had the plague from then on

And sleeping in the Hermes cabin was no longer an option, with how uncomfortable they were with him

Only a handful of people even got close to him after that, Annabeth, the Stolls, Clarisse...

He loved them and they'd always be his friends but all the stares, wishing he wasn't there, quickly became too much

He left

He spent a few years learning about his powers (thanks to Minos, tho he was a strict teacher, he was good) and unburying his memories

Minos then tried to sacrifice him to come back to life so he banished him and took the Ghost King title to himself

Every year was a new hardship

His dad loved open comunication as often as he did Demeter, people believing he had joined the titans' side, monsters trying to kill him, Zeus trying to kill him, then romans...

He grew to love his dad and match his stubbornness

He was always cagey about their family, his mom. He was used to it and did whatever he could to try and find her spirit. See her at least once...

During one of the visits to his friends at CHB, he caught sight of the hunters of Artemis. and one in particular, tiny thing of maybe 12 years, kept looking at him with black glassy eyes...

His world shattered a third time

would it be weird to make Nico a legacy of three different roman deities? bc I'm really fond of the idea of the DiAngelos having a kid of Orcus as an ancestor (like from 1500s? maybe) Nico's great great grandma being a daughter of Victoria and his grandpa being a son of Venus. (Two out of three is to justify this galaxy brain of a post)

within the fic it'd be Venus who'd be given the most importance tho? (as the 'less diluted' legacy) bc Orcus is to mainly give the family the ability to make oaths with a little more weight than a pinky swear, and Victoria bc I love this post and I think this makes too much sense to ignore.

Also, I hc that Italy is a hotspot for roman deities? so it makes in my head that they'd be more active over there

I just meshed two wip ideas into one and I'm cackling

In canon, Minos found Nico in the labyrinth(?) and used him to try to come back to life himself (don't remember the details much) so Nico was mostly focused on honing his powers and bringing (supposedly) Bianca back to life.

In this, Nico was yearning for his sister so hard from so much emotional pain that he called up her ghost but also not really bc he did it subconsciously + Bianca didn't want to even see Nico at that point = it rebounded unto Hazel and called her up instead.

Cue tiny!Nico and ghost!Hazel shenanigans.

at some point Hazel kicks Minos ass and is the crux of Nico's wacky adventures outside of Camp (tho somehow Nico still steals the Ghost King title from Minos?)

Also imagine (once Hazel is revived again) Nico (age 14 or 15) calling a tiny 13 yr old Hazel his big sister to anyone that would hear.

Just two chaotic children of the underworld causing havoc wherever they travel.

I just started rambling here and there and never really explained the plot of the kon fic beyond mentioning it's inspired by Robin's post, Redpanda's skit (youtube ver.) on Kon getting adopted by B and the series Code Bat.

Basically (90s) Kon gets adopted by Bruce few months after Jason had died and mere hours after he escaped Cadmus. When he gets home with Kon tho, Tim is there and waiting for Bruce and just chilling with Dick and Alfred in the kitchen. He arrived at the manor with a purpose.

No one knows how Tim made the connection bc no one knows Robin is in any way connected to Batman in this au. (prank and competitiveness meets bat standards, basically)

Kon and Tim start getting along like a house on fire and eventually share the Robin mantle within Gotham.

They share the same body type so no one realizes its not one Robin. + Robin being invulnerable half the time makes everyone even more confused. They're just messing with everybody

The fic is mostly within Gotham, how the changed situation makes things more complicated or less complicated, and how that affects the hero community within gotham vs outside Gotham. + Gothamites are a huge part of the fic (For those that know of him, Bill the henchman and The Goonion are added to this part)

The superman fam has a role to play in this tho, so they're not absent really.

Also, several identity crisis bc this is Tim we're talking about, and a Kon that struggles with what it means to be a bat and a super at the same time.

Several others changes also apply, like Kon starting at 12yrs old instead of 16 and Damian (when/if he eventually appears, only has a 4 year difference with Tim. Instead of 10, he'd be 14 yrs old)

Ok, so I said I’d post about my take on general categories a ghost can fall in a few weeks back and now I’m finally doing it.

This is what I’m usually using as a reference whenever I’m writing for DP.

These aren’t completely separate categories. It can change or mix as the ghost gets more complex, tho it’s generally agreed upon that ghosts fall in one category or another.

In general all ghosts are capable of the four basic abilities: Flight, Intangibility, Invisibility and Spectral Body Manipulation. Depending on where on the scale they fall on, some are easier than others. Not to mention each category has different base powers.

Thought Ghosts (name up to change)

Ghosts that are ruled by thought. This category of ghosts is what people usually think when they hear about a ghost, someone that used to be alive. These ghosts usually form as simplified versions of themselves or straight up look the same as when they died.

These guys are the ones that act the most similar to humans and still adhere to psychology and that type of thought process due to subconscious habit.

Instinct Ghosts (name up to change) 

Ghosts ruled by instincts. These ghosts happen more frequently than Thoughts but bc for these guys it’s hard to attain enough self-awareness, they are a lot more frequently attacked or killed and thus, not as common as Littles. These guys form as baby animals and usually get more complex from there. They act as they would when alive until they develop enough to digest the fact they’re dead. By that point they’re cognizant even if not entirely self-aware (i.e. Cujo) but they can develop that far as well (i.e. Wulf)

A sub-category of Instincts are ghosts that have fallen too deeply into their obsessions or ghostly nature to really think rationally. These guys don’t last long.

Littles

The most common ghost in the GZ and if seen outside of it, they’re very lost. Little blobs of small amounts of ectoplasm and ecto-energy, these guys are usually newly formed but Littles don’t include only new ghosts but also blobs that’ve been around for a while but just chill as a Little. Once no longer a Little and the ghost develops a little more, it’s almost impossible to devolve to that state again . Also, Littles are driven solely by staying cozy and near ectoplasm to chill, are masters of spectral body manipulation and they can handle almost any blunt force trauma. 

The way to differentiate a Little and a newly born ghost is that Littles usually have stable cores., tho a lot of ghosts treat both the same way.

One of the few widely respected rules in the GZ is not to abuse a Little in any way.

Nightlights

Mostly found on Earth, Nightlights look like little balls of light. Basically babies and on the same wavelength as well + just as curious and needy (always looking for other ghosts bc of their innate ectoplasm). Giggly and for some reason almost all can teleport. These guys are almost like counterparts of the Littles and mostly manifest near graveyards or docks and beaches. Very one track mind and simple minded.

Gels

These ghosts form when a lot of ectoplasm bond with little ecto-energy. Called Gels bc of their appearance, Gels usually are bigger than Littles (sometimes bigger than regular ghosts) and are very flowy and loose. They don’t think much and a lot of them don’t get out of the GZ bc of that. They’re just chill and passive unless a lot of them join up in a group and get angry at the same time. (pack mentality sometimes)

if one gets out of the GZ, and hits an ecto-energy hotspot. they can very quickly become a problem as they can basically go two ways. 1) they become a large unstable ghost (from all the ecto-energy they inhaled in a short amount of time) but manageable or 2) they get drunk on ecto-energy and a rampaging time bomb. Either way, they need help managing the extra ecto-energy.

Spirits 

These guys are the only ones that aren’t visible to humans on the regular, as they’re made out of mostly ecto-energy and only a little ectoplasm. A lot of ghosts in the GZ can spend years not seeing a single Spirit bc they’re only appearing on Earth, as the moment they enter the GZ they become a regular ghost bc of how much ectoplasm it has.

They are what humans would call poltergeists bc they’re able to affect the world around them (made of ecto-energy, people)

the only ones that can see them are other ghosts, who can not only sense ecto-energy but see them traditionally as well (they look transparent, like how ghosts look when they’re invisible to humans but not to other ghosts)

cats and other similar “death related” animals can see Spirits while humans with high enough ecto-contamination can see Spirits as well.

Coalitions

A rare type of ghost, these guys are not formed out of a single thought or a being but of multiple thoughts. (not even necessarily the same thought, just in the same place at the right time)

these guys have the most unstable beginning but if they survive the mental agony of being pulled in several, even opposing, directions as they develop into a stable mind, then they end up very powerful and/or knowledgable. 

Most develop a way of coping with being Coalitions. They can make their name literal and slowly mix everything together in a way that it all works in harmony (seen as the most healthy tbh), develop DID, cycle thru several personas until one sticks or they all merge (a reckless speedrun basically), etc.

These guys feel like standing next to the aurora borealis to other ghosts, even after they stabilize and that is a way to recognize who is a Coalition ghost.

Vassals

The only category of ghost that is formed on purpose by another ghost. These guys don’t usually have autonomy and act like an extension of the ghost itself but they can get autonomy and be just as complex as any other ghost tho still connected to the parent ghost. (i.e. Dora’s handmaidens)

Creating a complex vassal is very power consuming and even then it might not work bc it needs more than just that, it needs a spark of a specific ecto-energy that ghosts usually can’t generate. (they can’t sense it either) bc of this, ghosts that need/want vassals just make them simple and without autonomy. 

this doesn’t mean they don’t look like other ghosts, from a (human) glance they seem the same as everybody else, it’s when they can’t seem to think beyond the “parameters” of their autonomy or against their ghost’s interests that it begins to become apparent. (if a vassal says idk, then nothing will change that answer any time soon and they won’t make any decisions about it)

Also, vassals are born blank so they don't have a core (at first) they develop it if they live long enough/become autonomous. 

Ghosts can sense the lack of core and judge them lesser/like they're not true ghosts even if it’s not true.

Kin

These kind of ghosts are not formed out of natural ectoplasm and rarely in the GZ. They’re formed out of soul-tainted ectoplasm from another ghost. Usually remains or leftovers left behind in another place.

Ghosts formed out of another’s ectoplasm end up with a lot of similar attributes as the “original” ghost but they’re never linked unless they both want that later on, it’s not something they’re born with.

how these guys interact with their “original” ghost is why they’re called like this. 

Kin ghosts are often in a positive relationship with the original ghost and usually form groups with their parent ghost than go solo (i.e. like Walker and Bullet) but they’re different from actual vassals bc they’re still separate individuals/entities.

Angst Week HCs Tidbits

This is mostly rambling about extra bits and things I was thinking of as I wrote them so it'll be under the cut as it got a bit too long

Its gonna be obvious how much I overthink sometimes as I write but it never actually gets in the fic

Day 1 - Birth/Creation

The weird narrative style I've kinda written all 5 fics in, was bc its what I defaulted to as someone who's written more school papers than fics

The Observants's artefact allows them to see the future with more detail than what they naturally can, which is how they got CW's name.

They eventually lose this tho (it ends up as Freakshow's staff)

CW identifies as non binary

The future the Observants saw was in fact created by them when they decided to practically enslave CW (like a self fulfilling prophecy)

The only reason it didn't happen was bc CW meddled

CW and the Observants see different kinds of futures. While the Observants see a "harry potter" type future where paradoxes kinda don't exist, CW sees the entire multiverse and can change things accordingly

The whole name thing they did to CW works the same as if a fae getting a person's true name (I think, I don't remember fae name rule small that much beyond don't do it)

The details of what exactly is a Coalition type ghost, I will have to explain in another post, as it'd be better to explain all categories in one go

Day 2 - Obsession/Instincts

I had forgotten I had written CW as a Coalition when I started this with Cujo also being a Coalition

Ironically, the cujo idea was first

All six dogs had combined in death as Cujo bc they basically died together and had the same final thoughts

Thus, why they kinda stabilized so quickly. They focused on the same obsession

Tho Cujo will only truly stabilize when he's given a name by Danny later on

This is why Cujo practically imprinted on Danny as family

Danny never takes advantage of the name once its explained to him how important they are to Coalitions. No matter how easier it'd be to make Cujo listen in messy moments

In the first draft Taylor didn't exist. I decided to add her in later to make it more painful

She was the dog trainer hired by Axion Labs to help the dogs do their job better

She grew attached in the 3 years she was there

She was also laid off when the new security system was implemented alongside 4 other people

She was forced to get the dogs to the vet as a last job

After all six dogs were euthanized, she left Amity park and hasn't gone back since.

The brief mention of Matthew was to show Joey was the oldest dog there as he had been born in a regular home and after a 2 years then given away when his owner, Matthew, died

Most of the style of how the dogs thought were based on Bella from the movie "A Dog's Way Home"

Apparently its legal to euthanize healthy dogs???? It doesn't even need a good reason as the list actually said not wanting the dog, was an OK reason to kill the dog

Still, I made Cujo a pitbull bc of his canon appearance , also bc pitbulls have the wrong reputation of being aggresive and bc pitbulls have the most record of being euthanized for the wrong reasons

Cujo has a acceptance/love obsession and a propagation core (insp. by cloud flames from Reborn for those that know that show) bc it would be a good explanation for why he can grow big + he developed that core bc of the longing he felt upon death

Day 3 - Family/Friends

I have no idea what happened to Danny at the end, the point of the fic was how people reacted to the "mystery"

Also, how isolated Danny slowly became as he ended up with no family and friends

Aside from Sam and Tuck not knowing, everything that was seen as "something's not right" later on when Danny became a "delinquent" were just regular fanon things that are applied to Danny, the difference being that everyone saw it as angsty bc of was an outsider pov.

Bc if that, even if it was too much of a tone shift, I kinda wanted for things on danny's side to not be as bad as it seemed?

I wanted for Danny to be ghost-adopted by Pandora or Dora and just bail to the GZ after getting an oath for amity park to be left alone

Most ghosts agreed bc going to the human realm was boring without Danny to fight with

This would be why phantom was still seen a few days after Fenton went missing, he was making sure the promise was real

He still goes to the human realm from time to time but always as phantom

In this au he had realized very early on that not being around his friends and family made them safer bc he's usually a target.

Thus why he accepted moving in the GZ with little fuss overall. Containment.

Day 4 - Corruption

I have just realized that 4/5 of these fics are open ended as I left them except this one. Kinda

The Ghost of Choice is an ancient

Insp. by Mortified how Ancients are god-like ghosts that personified their domain. Like CW and time.

The Fright Knight and the Ghost of Choice both began as blob ghosts or Littles as I call 'em when CW was the teen equivalent in ghost

If he hadn't been corrupted but the sword, Fright Knight would've become an ancient as well. The Ghost of Chivalry

Most ancients guard their names as a separate indentity, like super heroes.

Just as these two, not a lot of people realized CW even has a name.

Soul Shredder was made in a time where the GZ was in even more anarchy than usual and everyone was fighting to extinction.

This is why it was acceptable to make a sword that ate souls

What happened with the Soul Shredder was no one's fault for maybe except the ghost that arrogantly tried to mod an legendary sword while thinking they had outmaneuvered the creator

This is why Choice is bitter and would shred the ghost to pieces if he ever saw them again

Its a wild ride when Fright Knight is released too

Choice is why Fright Knight can only speak in rhyme

There were a lot more factors in that war than Choice realize, the story he told wasn't unbiased

Choice's powers have always been around choices (think the roman god Janus) but he didn't realize that until much later as he had to hone them

That's usually how ancients are born, they are different but only those that survive that long can claim the title that comes along the power

CW is the exception, as a Coalition. They was born powerful

I have ideas on how all the other ancients would work too

A lot of the concepts shown here have been in my DP Worldbuilding docs for months where I had originally written them for my Floating Stars AU but now are my general do hcs.

All of them tied to an important concept to the GZ and ghosts in general

Pariah is called the Dark King in this, in part bc most ghosts nowadays are terrified of his legend, and in part of ghosts are inherently dramatic

Day 5 - Death

This began as a drawing of just Danny sitting on his headstone and being unable to be seen by Sam and Tuck who gaze sadly at the grave

Then I remembered I cannot draw and made it a fic too

This is a more traditional take on the ghost idea

Ghosts have regrets that tie them to earth, they cannot be seen by regular humans, they don't speak normally, etc.

It quickly became paranormal urban fiction

The Fentons are still working on the unnatural but a different route, and they still caused an accident and Danny still died bc of it in a way

Amity Park is a supernatural hotspot and its protected by an eldritch being seen in the fic as the italics. No, that wasn't Ollie (this is a slight retcon tho, no idea who the italics are but there is a being protecting amity)

Ollie, Fred and others are kinda like mediums? Basically the people with powers that would normally be the protagonists in these kinds of stories

I don't know how I'd continue this tbh. I love it to pieces and how it came out but not sure what would be the threat that danny had to die for it to be solved and why phantoms especifically are important but maybe it'd be fun to figure out

Chapter 1 of the Floating Stars AU (officially titled “Ever Normal” now) is nowhere near ready to be posted but I was messing around with possible summaries and I have two of ‘em. What do you guys think?

Danny and Star got paired up for a history project, to their dismay. After their first meet up, Star saw Danny die. 

That's when it all began to get weird.

I love that this one is short and to the point but it has no flair.

When Star got assigned that History project with Fenton of all people, she knew her social life was going to take a hit. 

She thought she knew what was going to happen and had already talked to Paulie about it before going to Fenton’s house.

Seeing the loser die in his parent’s weirdo mad scientist lab was not part of it. Nor was discovering that ghosts are actually a thing she needs to worry about now.

Between keeping an eye on Danny, her social life, and keeping her parents from knowing too much of anything but also content with her… Star has a full plate on her hands.

Meanwhile, Danny wishes he’d died all the way so he wouldn’t deal with any of this.

This one is longer and I love it too but putting Star as the main character feels like I’m lying bc it’s not just about her :/

OK so, all the ideas in this list are possible side stories for the floating stars au but I'm not sure if I'm gonna write all of them + take it with a grain of salt as these ideas are always changing in my head

I was just messing around writing scenes for a fic crossover of danny phantom and julie and the phantoms and I think I accidentally wrote the scene I'm working on as Reggie/Danny? Its just supposed to be platonic affection but I'm 100% oblivious when it comes to this kind of thing so I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Why? bc I thought it would be interesting as pomegranates symbolizes either death or life in a lot of cultures.

Well, that scene placed him next to Jazz so my brain says they're friends.

His name is Stephan Cook and he's a bit of a coward but still tries to warn off people during crises and ghost attacks. He considers Jazz to be his best friend. He's super short but actually in Jazz's year. 

Dunno why but I'm super attached to him now tbh

There's no pairings in the story, the closest in romance I'll get is Maddie and Jack's relationship.
