Potentially-unpopular mlp opinion

The season 7 episode Fame and Misfortune is severely underrated.

It not only captures captures the essence of obnoxious, loud assholes in the fandom, but Twitter culture as well.

We see grown, adult ponies gather in large, angry mobs, and harass the Mane 6 over pieces of the journal taken out of context, or just outright misunderstood. But these mobs don't care that they're misunderstanding the journal and its messages; they just want to be angry. They would rather just shout angrily though a megaphone directly in other's faces, with no regard for personal boundaries or respect, because they want to illustrate the point that they are, in fact, angry.

I think that describes Twitter/X culture perfectly.

Plus the song Flawless fucking slaps

And making "Rarity hate" a thing in the episode was hilarious

Flawless Propaganda: 1. In context of the episode it comes across as ''we'll never be perfect so we don't need to try for self improvement.''. 2. MLP eventually found a default sound pallet that becomes the go to style for a lot of the music in later seasons. Not only do more and more songs start to sound the same, the sounds they did chose sound sterile and uninspired, and Flawless is one of many songs that sound like nothing as a result. 3. It's annoying. The chorus melody sounds like something children would sing on a playground to taunt you and the vocal performances sound pious and arrogant

Been watching MLP as background noise lately here's what I've learned

• Rarity is flawless and has never done anything wrong, living up to my image of her pre viewing. Her "bad moments" are understandable!! Lapses in judgement leading to apologies that make sense, etc

Omg pony art ?!...yeaaa but it's still trolls 🤭 I like a lot of the mlp trolls art but one thing I don't agree with is how they always draw princess poppy as an alicorn, beautiful, stunning flawless I adore it but I always hated flurry heart and how she was born an alicorn. so I'm like mmmmm...she'd have her alicorn moment later.

This is just my personal head canon but Poppy actually became queen because her father is suffering from dementia, it's a scene that was cut from the first movie that should never have been because Peppy is so forgetful! It would make a lot of sense why Peppy didn't tell Poppy about the strings or Viva. He couldn't remember but they cut it and a lot of people don't know about it.

I personally like to continue to believe he has dementia one for the rep and two because I don't hate him and think he was a good dad. It also gives a reason to why Poppy kept making mistakes in the first and second movie, she wasn't ready. She desperately wanted to prove herself and doesn't realise her actions and selfless they are selfish and she doesn't listen. She's not a bad queen she's just been thrown into a responsibility she really wasn't ready for but had to step up to because he father couldn't continue either.

So because she wasn't ready to fully fulfill her role as queen and a Poppy she hasn't become an alicorn yet but during let me hear you sing this is her alicorn moment, when her outfit magically changes thats her alicorn transformation.

And yes the same thing happens to Barb. Barb is just like Poppy. She actually wanted to bring everyone together living together in harmony and she thought the only way for everyone to get along was if they were all the same, she didn't want to destroy others music she wanted to unite the trolls. Just like Poppy Barb had to step into a role she wanted ready for because of her father deteriorating health.

Ngl it was relatively easy to think of pony names for these characters since i've had the idea to make this for a while so i've had a lot of time to think about it lol

For yuriko: i chose the name "flawless lace" because in her regular form, i specifically chose the name "yuriko" for her because it means "perfect" so i wanted to try and include that aspect into her pony name. Some considered names for her were "perfect storm" and "lily lace" since the "yuri" part of her name means "lily" (though i decided against it bc i remembered that's the name of an actual pony in MLP...) the markings on her legs are meant to sorta mirror the stockings she wears in her usual form

For sprite: i chose the name "baby carrot" simply because that was a actual name i considered for her normal form before i decided on "sprite" (which is kinda funny since a big part of sprite's character is that she likes apples.....a food that is basically as different from carrots as it can get) she is a goat-alicorn hybrid because she's normally a deltarune OC, specifically a fankid of kris and ralsei; with the latter being a prince from the dark who is also a goat monster

For carrie: a big part of her backstory is that she named herself, she's literally a carrot that decided to be human one day (...or pony, in this case) and is trying to fit into civilsation as best she can; so i tried to give them a pony name that sorta fits that, and so i named them "carrot mulch" because i could totally imagine her trying to introduce themself to someone and doing that one trope in movies where the main character doesn't want to share their real name and just looks around the room for things to call themself lol. I also decided to make her a blank-flank since she probably hasn't spent that long a time as a pony and therefore wouldn't have a cutie mark despite appearing fully grown

For makeighlyn i feel like my choices are pretty straight forward, the character is a girls' flash game mascot created by a christian fundamentalist cult who somehow escaped into the real world and now works as a demon slayer so i decided to give her a name and cutie mark that reflects that. The only thing that i feel is worth mentioning is that i find it interest how the amount of pink in her design makes the blue in her hair look a lot darker...either that or i might've accidentally hue-shifted it or something

Choese is another pretty straightforward one, he's a flirty cheese-themed mouseboy so i gave him a heart-shaped cheese cutie mark and named him "gouda squeaks" because he's a fucking rodent. (Sidenote: i love smoked gouda so goddamn much omg)

Lastly for crystalline i decided to make her a breezie since she's normally a fairy and y'know....breezies are just the MLP equivalent to fairies....i also decided to name her "fee-fee breezie" since breezies usually have really cutesy names in the show (some of them straight up have references to their species in their names), the "fee-fee" part of her name is short for "feelings" since crystalline is an emotion fairy

Y'know when i first created crystalline back when i was like, 10 i was going through a phase where i just VIOLENTLY hated things for no reason (specifically things from MLP such as the vampire fruit bats, flurry heart and the manta hawk from the IDW comics) to the point that i would make them out of polymer clay JUST so i can make my pony toys kill them (i was a weird kid, needless to say) one of these things being the breezies....so ngl i feel like the fact that i made crystalline a breezie is really fucking ironic lol

Y'know, having watched Hazbin, it kinda feels like all the major (or at least the ones that trend on twitter) criticisms of the show come down to the critics lacking media comprehension skills.

Not to say the show is flawless or above critique, there are definitely some places it falls short (I'm looking at you audio mixing on Vaggie's VA), but so much of the stuff I see people getting really up in arms about is just... not something that actually is borne out by the text of the show

What do you mean~? Obviously, the first episode having a storybook sequence to explain the lore of this setting is 'terrible writing' and an 'MLP: FiM' ripoff!

The critics said so, so it must be true!

And, you know, a purposeful ignorance to the kind of character utilizing that storybook delivery because it's not like Charlie is an idealistic dreamer and one of the core elements of HH is her realizing that redemption is harder than smiling and singing and that there's always something going on in the background of any situation.

Eclipse, Discord and Celestia’s only child. Another MLP next gen who had an old design before, which I spruced up a bit, but it was honestly a bitch to make QvQ. I drew a full body of him since I wanted to show him in all his hybrid glory, which took some time to conceptualize since I didn’t want him to look too pony-like or too draconequus-like as some Dislestia babies tend to be. I also used some pony genetics logic with how a parent’s mane colors can become their child’s coat colors and vice versa; some of Celestia’s mane colors were “redistributed” to Eclipse’s wings and his left arm while Discord’s body and tail colors became the colors of Eclipse’s hair and hooves. I know that making next gens with heterochromia were they basically just have one eye color from each parent is usually a sign of “bad design” but I thought it’d be neat here, plus chaos is literally in this boy’s genes so I think it’s justified lol.

The fact that Eclipse was even born was a surprise for his parents since they weren’t even sure they were capable of conceiving offspring together and in a way they were right. Eclipse wasn’t born in the normal way, since he was literally made from chaos magic influenced by Discord and Tia’s desire for a child of their own.

His hair’s quite strange in that part of it is just like normal hair while another part flows ethereally like his mother’s. With his father’s help, he’s trying to get the hang of controlling it, but struggles with it a lot. Sunburst and Starlight did make a magical golden hairtie that when he uses it, he has better control of which part of his hair has that etheral quality.

While he can go bipedal, he prefers going on all fours since he has some rather poor balance and doesn’t want to end up embarassing himself in public.

Often taciturn, only speaking much when he feels it’s needed or when he’s around those he’s close with.

Has astigmatism and dyslexia, but is ashamed of these since he wants to keep up the image of a flawless prince, even if his mother always tries to reassure him that he doesn’t have to keep pressuring himself. He does wear glasses to help with the former, but only complied with it since he figured it would make him look wise.

Because of their very similar personalities and the fact they can relate to each other, he’s good friends with Breaking Ground.

Is in a romantic relationship with Summersong, who he had known since his childhood. They were introduced to each other during one of Fluttershy’s visits to the Royal Family and the two became fast friends and often played together. Surprisingly to most, he’s the younger one between them.

Often tries to be very stern and serious, especially when it comes to court politics. He usually tries to set up marriage arrengements that are advantageous in any way (ie, alliances, power, etc.), with his many cousins often being the target of his attempts at political matchmaking. His cousins, meanwhile, have varying reactions to his attempts but often they’re annoyed especially since it does somewhat make him a hypocrite since he’s “essentially married” to Summersong out of love.

Capable of flight and magic, but prefers to not try them out of fear that it could lead to something dangerous happening. He had two accidents related to those things back when he was younger, and it’s scared him out of trying them ever again.

Used to be a much more outgoing and happy-go lucky kid, but constant scrutiny from others because of him being a hybrid (and the son of a former villain, at that) has made him the closed off person he is today.
