a friend sent me this screenshot of Ratio and Aventurine's character models exported to MMD for fan animations and stuff and I've not stopped looking at it for almost 24 hours

but more importantly im just thinking of some kind of scenario or mixer where the IPC and the Guild are mingling and Ratio is trying to get somewhere and Aventurine is pretending not to notice him/block his way and in a fit of 1) irritation and 2) over-familiarity because Aventurine's form of flirting is getting in his personal space about everything, Ratio grabs Aventurine by the waist and just. picks him up. turns. puts him down. keeps moving without acknowledging what he's done.
Everyone in the immediate vicinity is stunned silent, but as soon as Aventurine gets his breath back (oh my god he can just. lift me like that huh? just up and over? oh my god. oh god. did his fingers touch?) he laughs it off. meanwhile it takes Ratio an hour to finish whatever his urgent business was for it to finally hit him as well, and his own thoughts are about thirty percent horny, sixty-five percent mad about being horny, and five percent going "will Human Resources consider this another instance of throwing someone? If I get another black mark they might cut my funding."

would you ever consider making a tutorial on how you get your physics to be so smooth and nice ? they're absolutely scrumptious - watching your models move is by far my absolute favorite thing ever, moyo <3

and as much as i want to give a tutorial on my physics workflow, i don't think i'm able to do that bc my workflow is VERY manual and requires a lot of trial-and-error!!
however!!! i can give you few resources that i think would help you!
1) introduction to mmd physics by Amenrenet! i suggest reading all these first to get basic understanding on how they work
2) this old tutorial that i followed when i first started using the physics rigging tool (aka skirt plugin). very helpful to get at least basic smooth physics! (i had to reupload this tutorial to my drive since it was taken down by the original uploader)
3) kind of same tutorial as above but in video format (plus using it to rig non-skirt items). they also have base values provided. created by Kana Fuyuko!
4) physics maker by MMDLoid, though i never used it bc my workflow requires manual adjustments so idk how to explain it, but useful for saving templates to reuse on other models (i think)
5) last but not least, take references from other models!! hell, you can even use mine as one. you don't need to copy the values as-is, adjust how you like bc only you know for your model!

Hi! I Saw your converting pre-existing models to sims 4 video and thought it was really cool and I want to give it a try myself but Im not sure how to get the models in general for it ( Safely that is), Do you have any recommendations? Sorry if this has been asked before, I hope that you have a nice day!
really it depends on what you'd be looking for!
the models resource - video game model rips
open3dlab (and the others) - mix of video game rips and originals, usually optimized for blender animation use but you can convert stuff if you know what you're doing. just note they have slowish download speeds unless you sub to their patreon
deviantart - a bit of everything! using keywords like 'mmd' and 'xps' are useful for finding game rips. just be mindful of creator TOS with original models for these programs, and be sure to credit!
sketchfab - mostly original models, some rips. kind of a mixed bag because a lot of models can be insanely high poly for no reason, which means converting them is gonna suck. remember to credit artists if you use original models from here!
turbosquid / fab / cgtrader / etc - these are paid model sites, usually intended for commercial use. did you know perma paywallers (at least from the SL side) get their models here? now you know
and then theres always the good ol. 'make it or rip it yourself' option, which obviously varies. ripping game models yourself really depends on the game and the tools made for it!

Caramelldansen with Heart Effects ✨
This week, I started with a big idea—continuing my exploration of day/night cycles—but ultimately shifted gears to focus on something simpler. 🌅 My initial vision involved Miku dancing on a tall platform up in the clouds, but no matter how I tweaked the skyboxes, I couldn’t get them to look right. ☁️😓 After a few nights of trial and error, I decided to pivot. Instead of pushing through frustration, I embraced something more manageable: experimenting with motion effects. 🎥
Highlights
Experimenting with Effects: After watching a tutorial, I decided to combine the iconic Caramelldansen motion with heart particle effects. 💖✨
Used the "colorful pastel" preset from Active PV Heart to Miku's hands and scaled the hearts up to three times their size for more impact. 💕 You can use the Scale (S) value in the Accessory Manipulation panel to do this.
The effect was pretty limited to the top half of the model, since that is how Caramelldansen goes, so I added the "Blue Green Miku" variant of the effect to Miku's body to spread the hearts across the model. 💙
Atmosphere Tweaks:
Adjusted gamma, saturation, and temperature in Ray Controller to achieve rich, deep blues. 🌌
Selected a rooftop stage, which captured the elevated vibe I wanted after scrapping the cloud concept. ☁️➡️🏙️
Challenges & Lessons Learned
Camera Movement: Tried a wrap-around panning movement but found it too advanced for my current skills. 📹 Opted for six dramatic hard cuts instead, leading to a satisfying final shot of Miku’s peace sign pose. ✌️
Music Misstep: While cutting down the length of the dance, I scrapped the music for the video, which made it feel less cohesive. 🎶 I’ll prioritize keeping music intact in future projects.
Export Tip: Always double-check export settings! I almost rendered the wrong version because I had it set to "Model" mode instead of "Camera." 😅💾
Looking Ahead
I’m not entirely sure what I’ll take on next, but a few inspirations from other MMD videos have me excited to explore new ideas. 🌟 I’m considering designing a stage using some props, experimenting with a stylized color palette, or creating something that really glows. ✨ Whatever I choose, I’m looking forward to diving into something fresh and seeing where it takes me!
Reflection
This project reminded me that letting go of overly ambitious ideas can lead to enjoyable results. 🌈 The final video might not match my initial vision, but the process was so rewarding—and that’s what counts! 💡💖

I guess I should share this? It's an archive I've put together of notable assets from the mobile AOTU games (Yes, including global!!!), the officially released MMD Models and some cheat sheets for Project A / Journey to Light. (Edit: also just added/plan to add more pdf scans of the official art books!) There are resources inside for you to navigate my folders, but if you can't find something, you can DM me here or check my documents for other ways to reach me!
Edit: I don't need credit for standard assets like images and such as they are not mine, obviously. The only things I'd like to have credit for is the MMD models I explicitly put together (in "BukiTanuki AOTU MMD.7z"). They may be bad, but they took forever lol.
Then also just credit me for being the one who ripped the 3d models if you plan on distributing them, as they took a lot of effort for me to figure out how to rip properly '^^. If you're not distributing the models, don't worry about it, that's all I ask for!!
Again, I don't own anything within here, but I did go through a lot of effort to get you guys all the assets in here!

re:"muh story-based vocaloid MVs"
a lot of the #Classics had static PVs, and most of the animated PVs a lot of people recall from back in the day were. fan-made! (An obvious example is like. World is Mine and Kagerou Days) obviously, the reposting culture on Youtube in that era meant that ppl just snatched up whatever MV looked the most interesting and then reposted it to youtube. There's not really an era where everyone and their grandma did one.
2. A person in the conversation pointed this out but like. How many PV artists (not just illustrators, but also MV editors and the like) can the average Vocaloid fan, actually name? Like everyone supposedly knows of Suzunosuke's illustrations for the Night ∞ Series but can they name TSO and VAVA who help bring those MVs to life? Honestly the simple act of just. Following these people will, shocker! lead you to find their other work! Who would've guessed!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!! But people don't they just sit on their hands and go "I can't wait for something like this to pop out of the ether directly in front of my face sometime :D"
3. Not everybody got "fully animated/render story MV" money bro!!!! Half of the Ps out there are like hobbyists doing out of the love of the game after they get done working their actual jobs or going to school. There's various circumstances that go into each one (people who draw and edit it all themselves, those who go full passion project and do it for free for others due to Reasons, official companies like OTOIRO, music circles, etc) but like. It's Difficult and it costs A Lot of Money and A Lot Of Time. It's not some crazy conspiracy a lot of people go for Simple MVs because most of the time it's economical and the apporipate amount of resources for something that is honestly just a hobby for a lot of people!
4. Like. I won't say there's zero cases of algo-chasing shit (obviously untrue) but also like. vocaloid community is built on derivative work, the culture encourages it! There's a reason why Vocacolle also had categories for MMD covers, utaite covers, and remixes of original songs! So I don't think every action taken that might stimulate/encourage derivirates (having a dance with the song, making the MV simple for utaites* to use and putting the MV files in a dropbox with the instrumental, etc) should immediately jump to "OUGHHHHHH CLOUTCHASERRRRRRR" allegations nonsense.
Especially when we wrap back around to issue #3 in that This Shit Takes Time! Sometimes the "connections" you see might be coincidence. I saw sooo many ppl accusing 32ki using Cast to jumpstart Mesmerizer as it began to blow up bc they were in the spotlight for their RB animation, only for Cast themselves to come out and say "....actually, I started work on this MV wayyy before I even came up with the drafts for RB lmao"
(* utaites also deal with #3, there's a reason why most of them just opt for a redrawn thumbnail and then just repost the video for their covers, of course)
5. You control the buttons you press. I find cool MVs everyday, talk about a skill issue. Like this one. Some of you just really are waiting for a producer with Deco*27 level stats but With The Stuff You Like to magically appear before you instead getting your ass up and going to VocaDB or something to find The Thing You Like.

converting non-humanoid unity animations to mmd is hell i tried all resources i could find and they didn't work, i even installed unity to export from there and it didn't work either (i also retained the bone names on my port!!) 4 hours later i figured out that i just needed to rename the bones to jp in blender before exporting and it stupidly worked... 💀

No Because WTF Is This Shit
I try not to say shit but genuinely @aralenorimaki01 would it kill you to test your CC to see if it works with plus-sized Sims? You paywall your stuff for over a MONTH and ask people to DM you for links to your CC which is shady as fuck only for people who PAID for this to be BROKEN on other body types. Almost every one of your cc outfits do this when on plus sized Sims which just scream that you're either lazy about conversions or don't pay attention to other body types that aren't skinny when not everyone makes skinny Sims!! Plus-sized players exist and should be able to dress their Sims up as characters that they like.
Also, all of the assets you use aren't even yours that you're paywalling! Those assets were ripped by MMD and FPX modelers on Deviantart and some from SketchFab & The Model Resource.

📁 Interview 001: "Making Keitai Hakken" ft. snowsorry
"Developmental interview with snowsorry"
For the first interview of this blog, I decided to retrace my steps by revisiting the creation and development of the first sound source for the keitaiware project. I also plan to go over my goals and future plans concerning this project. For a short summary, the keitaiware project was launched in order to prepare beginner UTAU users with the materials they need to navigate the program on MacOS. As of right now, these resources are still being uploaded live, and I want to thank everyone for their support regarding the project thus far! I want to keep sharing tutorials and offering my best work from this point forward. I don't think I would have made it this far without the support of the friends I have made during my time here. Today we will be interviewing my friend snowsorry, the voice provider of Keitai Hakken. For this interview we will go over Hakken's development and the future developments regarding his sound source. I would like to note that, we are good friends and this might be a bit informal, but we are both very passionate about the direction of this project.
Before I ask any questions, I would like to summarize my original thoughts regarding the project. This project was launched because there is a great lack of resources regarding the field of MacOS UTAU. Prior to keitaiware, I would assist my friends with any technical difficulties but quickly realized half of what I was preforming was unsearchable. Originally, I wasn't planning to brand my tutorials, and had my eyes set on releasing tutorials in simplicity until I had jokingly designed Hakken back in February 16th 2024. Hakken was originally a gijinka character based on the MacOS Finder application, but has become his personal trademark. Occasionally running the gag of file organization and finite storage capacity. After designing him, I realized he could be the mascot for the UTAU resource blog, thus development began. In April I launched auditions with a very low turnout, but within that attempt I was able to find his voice and continue with the process! I would like to thank Colle for all his efforts and contributions towards the project, if not for people like him, I would not have been able to learn so much.
Q. For our first question I would like you to introduce yourself! How long have you been doing UTAU activities for, and how did you become familiar with the program?
Snowsorry: Hello! My name is Colle, but people typically know me by my username, "snowsorry". I consider myself to be a vocal synth cover artist who mainly works with UTAU. I only started doing UTAU/cover works a little over two years ago now. I had an interest in and followed Vocaloid music for a long time, so much so I can't pinpoint when that even started, but because of that I was very aware of the existence of UTAU-- however I hadn't really attempted to work with it until recent years. I don't really remember what exactly sparked me to pursue it…. I think it was because I was dabbling in MMD and wanted to play with the idea of my original characters singing the songs themselves. Really, I just remember going, "I'm going to make an UTAU!" one day and that was that! At the time, I didn't know anyone who worked with vocal synths, nor anyone who had an interest in using any vocal synth software. So, I had to learn how to do most things by myself until I met new people in the UTAU community through my work.
That's really incredible!! Its a pleasure having you here today, now, I am not too versed in the world of MMD, but being knowledgeable in both programs is something to really be proud of! With UTAU, my case was similar, it's difficult getting started with the program given the lack of resources. I also consider myself self taught! The process of learning was never linear, but having met more people to influence and inspire me, I feel like my work has improved greatly! I also have you to thank in terms technical insight as my knowledge was quite old before meeting you.
Q. Continuing with our next question, what was your general impression of Hakken's character, and how did you feel when you received the acceptance letter for the position?
Snowsorry: I first saw Hakken through the audition. When I saw him I went, "wow..! I really like this character design. It'd be so cool if I got that role!" While I was nearly entirely unconfident in my application, I did think my voice fit the criteria for the tone that was being described, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to apply. I had applied to be a voice provider a few times before, but had yet to get accepted.. worst thing that could happen is I get no response. I was still interested in following Hakken's development even if I didn't get the role. I think because of my lack of confidence I didn't actively check my email.. I didn't see the acceptance letter until a few days later! I panicked because I thought I might've missed my opportunity and someone else was given the role by then haha. I was really excited while also being incredibly nervous, as I wasn't sure how patient you would be working with me. Not even to mention that I was ill with some sort of lung irritation and unable to sing for a while.. weirdly enough, I think that as well as my nervousness while recording ended up working in our favor!
To this day, I am really grateful that the application found you and you had the overall courage to apply. When looking through your portfolio I thought your work was very clean and professional!! It was my first time hosting an audition for a voice, but I had a picture for what I was expecting for his character. If I remember correctly I listed some details along the lines of, "gentle and kind," and I really feel like you fit that role beyond the voice! We were both really clumsy, or it was relieving to find out you were just as anxious as I was when communicating back and forth. When I found out you had a lung irritation, I was about to send you an updated recording list asking for a cough sample, but after checking my email and finding out you were sick I felt some shame. I ended up providing the updated recording list regardless, but allowed you time to recover! Your responses were very quick (as was your recovery), I appreciate all the extra work you provided for Hakken during that time as I was expecting to do a lot of the work myself!! A detail I would like to bring up before I move on from the recording production.
Q. I would like to bring up the fact that Hakken was not recorded using Recstar. It is compatible with your iPhone but what made you record in the Voice Memos application?
Snowsorry: I actually just didn't know Recstar existed at the time! But other than that, I was really set on fulfilling the Apple product gimmick as I knew it was an imperative aspect to the voice bank. I initially planned to record in Bandlab since it would be easier to transfer to my PC, however I ended up going with Voice Memos as I thought using a default app would be more "authentic". I did opt for Recstar when recording the new additional samples for Operation+, though. I didn't think it would be worth the hassle haha!
Ohhh fair! At the time of searching for a voice provider, I was aware of it's existence, but had used it only once for a few tests. One of these tests was an attempt to record Hakken myself, but my voice didn't have the tone I was searching for. After that I held the auditions! Thank you for considering the authenticity of the sound source, it was a crucial thing I forgot to mention as I only mentioned using an Apple device for the recording. Then it could've been recorded however you liked! I used to use Voice Memos myself, and can easily say it just isn't feasible with a program like Recstar. Though at the end of the day, there is great irony in the fact that Hakken's sound sources were recorded in Voice Memo's given that Nishina keeps his diary in that application. I think even within the recording process, I am satisfied with the fact that, even though his diary is completely optional, this UTAU ended up with a lot depth in its development even if that was pure coincidence. Do I recommend the read to everyone? Not necessarily, I believe he can be enjoyed without the extra materials. In regards to Operation+, I am still preparing the bank for release and plan to release it as soon as I make progress with Hakken's 2.0 update. I should have more details on this for everyone as soon as I pull together some of the final details and run some tests.
Q. For a final question to wrap up this interview, how do you feel about Hakken's reception and development? This can be towards the general process of working on his sound sources or how he's been received.
Snowsorry: It was a bit jarring at first, especially in regards to the voice bank itself! I have always thought my voice wasn't very, “manly," so when people began to place him alongside what I consider to be very masculine-sounding UTAUs, I didn't think my voice would fit in… however I was very surprised when that wasn't the case! It also meant a lot to me seeing people express how much they like his tone. I deeply appreciate the recognition he has gotten in general, even if it was a bit overwhelming at times! In the end I'm very happy with the outcome of everything. I've learned and grown a lot from this experience in many aspects. I very much enjoyed working with you to make Hakken and look forward to any future projects!
In terms of Hakken’s voice I believe he is very sophisticated and charming, its very true to his character! Recently, he received two appended banks, “Aperture,” and, “Memento.” They are a little deeper in tone compared to his standard, for a sober and serious sounding tone! Continuing with developments, his Operation+ bank should be releasing soon. I cannot give a release date at this moment in time as I have been doing volunteer work for several projects. Keitai Hakken Operation+ is an extended library of the standard CVVC Operation. This bank has consonants, glottal stops, vocal fry, rolled r, and English extras! Please look forward to it. As for future developments, I plan to have a 2.0 update prepared for both Keitai Hakken, and Keitai Ron concerning their CV-VV sound libraries. This update does not entail any large changes, for instance, the banks will receive new character art, adjusted oto.ini, and new encoding for a better user experience. This update should be finished by December 2024.
