Headcanon - Signas' Commanding Duties Placed in X3 Instead of X5

I kinda wanted to make a post based on when Signas comes in because he comes in earlier than X5. I kinda had the idea from a video, this one in particular and if I remember correctly, a roleplay I did with my best friend some time ago. I don't remember exactly, but what I pieced together will be a very brief post/chapter. Since I plan to make his Bio with everyone else's in that lil series~

Basically, he works as a low ranking Maverick Hunter, ebing kinda a background character and leaves the hunters pretty fast. Around after the X1 arc, he decides to do something else and be away from fighting Mavericks for a while. He was a C rank hunter and was about to move up before Sigma's initial rebellion started.

But he comes back after upgrades and having experience in the detective field. And he realizes things have definitely been a mess, even with X being behind the helm and doing his best. He could tell he was tired, so he definitely decided to be Commander from then on. And that's exactly what happened.

Hope this post does it justice until I can post more in detail without being vague lol.

Moonfall paused, already halfway towards the door when Signas had spoken. Perceptive as ever, wasn’t he? Well, that was why Signas was the Commander of the Maverick Hunters. 

“Sometimes I wonder if there’s nothing that escapes you, Commander,” came Moon’s soft response.

“It’s just--”

That’d been Blues. Not hers, that was for sure, but a different one. 

...Different from the one that existed here, too. None of the Robot Masters that existed here were hers. Not Crash, Rock, Shadow, Cut, Elec, Quick... Metal. No matter how similar they were, sometimes to the point of near identicality, not a single one of them had recognized her.

It stung.

So she ‘didn’t recognize’ them either. But in this case, Blues seemed... familiar with Abel City? Had he been revived or was he jumping timelines? What was wrong with the continuity in this timeline? She didn’t have the experience to know how to respond to this, but if reality was unstable here, then...

...

...And the Mavericks from the incident. Two killed, one not by her, and two escaped, one beaten within an inch of his life and likely marred forever, unless they had access to an exceptionally skilled medic or roboticist. That was unlikely.

Two escaped, because she’d interfered with Blues’ wrath. Two Mavericks, who’d be able to return and serve as a threat to more innocent people, this time with a vendetta against the Hunters and Blues.

If you don’t get rid of them, they’ll just keep multiplying and hurting more people. I’ve seen this sort of thing before, and it won’t stop until every last one of them is dealt with. Stop being so nice…it will save you a lot of heartache later on.

“...”

Deep shame suddenly welled up within the Hunter, and she gripped one arm tightly.

“...I let two Mavericks escape. I-I know I wasn’t actually supposed to be working at the time, but I was still the one available... and now they likely pose a greater risk to everyone.”

“...I’m sorry, Commander.”

Signas, has someone approached you with romantic intent before?

The question had Signas harden his expression for a moment. Thinking back over the years and his various experiences between others. Did he have that kind of personal history somewhere? Yes, he did, he could feel romantic inclinations, has experienced it before. But the past two times had.... Not ended well, and he threw himself into his work. Shooting up the ranks, and taking on deep responsibility. Signas was a man of strong morals and good heart, down in his core.

He wanted to improve the Hunters, and had been, steadily, slowly, working through the past mistakes and hazards. Trying to work through government bureaucracy that made everything harder, but had been making headway. Yet, in recent years... He hadn't taken time for those sorts of times. Personal time to relax, decompress so he didn't crack, yes. But personal relationships like that? Other than friendships? No.

"... Not for quite some time. But there has been before, yes. This is not however, anything bearing on work."
