im listening to the audiobook for making money (ive read the book but it was a couple years ago now) and my review is that the antagonists for this book are my least favorite out of all of the city books ive read. they completely lack charm and theyre mostly just horribly annoying

#plus some of the later books (most books post-thud) dont really catch my attention like the others do....#my reasoning for this is that most of the interesting dynamics are removed by that point #and it comes down more to a good main character plus a good antag and a whimsical plot #which is alright but not what made me fall in love w the books in the first place #i think maybe im just a fan of the city watch 🥲 every time one of them shows up im like YAYYYY ITS MY GUYS #angua and vimes and carrot in particular get this reaction but the occasional cheery makes me soo happy #i really do need to bite the bullet and speedread through raising steam . and just get it over with #sam.txt #discposting #moist is just such a showstopping character he has so much going on he can run a plot by himself #he barely needs an antagonist. however i do love the dynamic between him and spike #because. well. theyre vv adjacent #vetinari is another who is VERY charming on his own but he does need vimes to have true interesting development #ohhj... (dawning realization) the early city watch books are good bc theyre introducing crazy relationships #and the later books have phased out the more complex stuff. so less insane vetvimes moments #and zero carrot/angua stuff #SAD!!!!#im hiding all this in the tags bc i dont feel like stating my opinions directly #i dont know exactly how unpopular these opinions are but i do know that my opinions are not widely held
