Aight- long but important PSA

So I'm not going to post the ask that was recently sent to me. but I just want to make sure that everyone knows that fanfiction is not my job it is my hobby. I know that both from beyond the grave and run into my arms have had an extremely long hiatus. And I do feel sorry for the people who have been waiting for an update for several months-- but it should be understood that I have a life outside of Tumblr. I have a job, I am a full-time student in college, and I have other creative hobbies besides writing.

To demand an update, especially as rude as this ask was, is inappropriate and frankly harassment at this point.

It makes me excited that y'all are excited and waiting for updates. I am genuinely taken aback anytime someone says that they are anticipating the next chapter of either of my FanFictions. But that is no excuse to demand work from any author.

The majority of authors on this platform provide this work for free.

FREE

And writing is work.

It takes time to come up with concepts and plots and plot twists that make sense. It takes time to write and rewrite and revise and edit so that it is in the best possible condition for the readers. And although we know that y'all enjoy and appreciate this work-- a lot of us write for ourselves.

I write the work that I like to read. I fill the niche that I haven't seen before because this is content that I know, as a reader, I'd like to consume. I started writing these for myself and I continue to write these for myself. I have chosen to share these works. I am under no obligation to continue posting and updating and giving anyone a nice clean and happy ending, if I so desire. Because this is my creative process this is my hobby and this is what I use to destress.

It is upsetting that anyone thinks they are entitled to my work.

And it's even upsetting to write this because I know that so many of you are nothing but supportive and positive and only ever give encouragement for these fics. And to those people, this post isn't about you or aimed at you. This post is for those who harass me and other authors for the FREE stories we write.

I know this blog is RWBY centric, but I just wanted to give a shout out to a stunning reader insert fic I just got caught up on by @mollymaymaukme . If you love Critical Role and the character Mollymauk, then I highly recommend their fic From Beyond the Grave 👌It has a beautiful story and great writing~ Just beware spoilers for campaign 2 (and sort of campaign 1 later on) of CR.

I just wanted to tell you how much I like your stories. I love your ocs and think your plots are really original and engaging. Honestly I read through them a lot when I was struggling with depression and not feeling creative at all and it was both a really nice disconnect from reality and helped me to start to write again. I hope you have a great holiday season and I just wanted to let you know how much you helped me.

Although I don't write with the intent to help people out it is always humbling to hear it. I feel like I really vibe with you. I remember I first got into fanfiction when things weren't going great and I needed a break from the real world. I get what it's like to struggle with depression (and I definitely get how it kills all creativity) . So I'm happy to hear that my work has, in whatever small way, helped you out ☺️. Hi! so, I just wanted to say I just binge read From Beyond The Grave this evening and honestly, it's just so good. It kind of made me want to rejoin tumblr to better be able to keep up with it. As someone who loved Molly from when I started watching CR C2, and was brought to a blubbering mess after episode 26, it's such a beautiful story that I love deeply. I look forward to seeing where it goes

I mainly started the story as my own kind of "grieving" process for mollymauk tbh. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Just take your time with writing. As someone who on occasion dabbles in writing I get that sometimes things like inspiration and desire to write comes and goes. Some people find that hard to understand, and get entitled and don’t seem to realize you don’t have to share your writing with us, I for one am thankful you do though. Hope things go well for you from now on 💜

As I've already replied on my post (but thought it worth sharing on second one), Unfortunately that's just one of the hazards of writing on Tumblr.

God I’ve been listening to music all day and I have this idea that keeps coming to me I’ve been listening to Marian hill, tove Lo and hozier, and I’ve been imagining a fic with molly where every city they go to molly keeps shagging these music performers (insert hozier notoriously horny music) but they’re all actually the same person (a changeling) tell me what you think.

Hello again McD! I think this is the first time anyone has ever complimented my grammar.

Honestly; I write, do a short revision (for plots sake to make sure there aren't holes/inconsistencies), and then post without further tinkering! I'm surprised grammar has made it through unscathed with such a lax process 😅.
