Dragon Quest III HD-2D Collab in CotC!

Featuring Cyrus as the Hero, Viola as the Sage, and Molrusso as the Gadabout!

According to the new CotC Roadmap, the collab stretches until mid April, so there is probably more EX Jobs in Dragon Quest III designs to come!

The team said that they picked characters that resembled the source material, so perhaps Temenos will be chosen for the Thief?

Posting this late, but I did draw it yesterday!!

Earlier I drew my take on a Valentines Molrusso EX design! ^^

Included on the cake are some of her friends! She baked this to express her care for them all!

Alright, let’s do this!

Therion. His design appealed to me and unlocking chests seemed like a very useful skill to have. That and stealing.

Osvald V. Vanstein. After watching the trailers I decided this was the one I was most invested in and I was not disappointed.

Millard! Grew to love him, despite having no personality.

Alfyn Greengrass. Intially I didn’t understand what people saw in him, but became incredibly attached to him very quickly.

Throné Anguis! Everything about her is so amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed her far more than I expected.

Ophilia’s is the most consistently well written. And the voiced boss dialogue in Chapter 4 set her a cut above the others. I have so many thoughts about the themes.

Castti’s story is significant for reducing me to actual tears. Multiple times. Really, I love everything about this story and it is the perfect example of a story in a video game, as well as gameplay/story integration. I could go on about it for ages.

None. I genuinely hate the story in COTC, the good moments being overshadowed by excessive darkness and poor writing choices.

Therion, Cyrus, Alfyn and Primrose for OT1. Osvald, Temenos, Throné and Castti for OT2. Millard, Gilderoy, Scarecrow, Lynette, Molrusso...I forgot the rest...

Brightgrass (Alfyn/Cyrus) for OT1 is a pairing I enjoy a lot. I feel like their dynamic of research parents who both have a passion for helping others (be it through knowledge or medicine) pair very well. They also just seem to have good chemistry in their travel banters! I don’t really have ones for OT2 or COTC. Maybe Temenos/Osvald (Courtesy of Nota) in OT2 and Millard/Gilderoy in COTC (Courtesy of Zazu).

Erhardt, Zeph, Miguel, Esmerelda, Crick, Ort, Malaya, Trosseau, Edmund, Rosa, Melia, Father, Mira, Elena, Clarrisa, Partitio’s Entire Cast, Dolcinea, Gil and Kazan just to name a few...

Linde. The snow leopard has captured my heart.

I love to hate Harvey. But the most fun I’ve had in a boss fight has to be Kaldena.

The Crestlands are so beautiful. They have to be my favourite area out of both games, everything from the soothing music to the beautiful aesthetics.

Timberrain is probably my favourite. Every area in the games is designed so beautifully though.

OT2 just has so many incredible tracks.

Castti or Agnea. They’re such different vibes but I love them both.

Herminia’s OST? I remember Pardis, Auguste and Tytos because I hate them all.

The Cliftlands. When playing Octopath 1, I would fast travel to the Cliftlands just so I could listen to that song before it came out on spotify.

Ku’s theme is a song I could just sit and listen to for ages.

Thief. Aeber’s reckoning is so broken and their whole set of skills is incredible.

I had so much fun setting up my Arcanist Osvald build. Triple hit SP healing brings me such a strange glee.

I really enjoy the sprite art for Starseer from OT1. From OT2, I go insane for those Hunter designs.

Fandom has made me love Aeber to an unreasonable degree. He is consistently mentioned and has so many cool designs and ideas circulating.

Dohter’s ring. I would actually buy and wear that thing.

Fame has the most characters I like, so...that one.

The Temenos path action sprites are so detailed and fun.

The ending art of Octopath 2. It is so gorgeous and makes me so happy just to see it.

There is so much I could say here. I have made so many memories of the series, met so many great people because of these games. And it makes me really happy to truly enjoy these games.

I made a little thing for the 5th Anniversary to celebrate the whole series of Octopath Traveler!

I finished subtitling Molrusso and Durand's Traveler Stories now! These two are part of both my brother's and my teams, so it was nice to see their stories again!

As before, I will talk about their stories and my thoughts on them for a bit. I'll talk about Molrusso first. Molrusso is a young cleric who believes heavily on spreading truth. This said, she despises when people lie about anything to her or to others. As a cleric, her main goal is to preach the beauty of believing in each other. Her story starts off innocently enough with her trying to track down a book. On the way of finding the book, she discovers a book she had when she was a child. The book is called "Wish Upon a Shooting Star". It's a book that tells the story about a start that comes around the Cragspear skies once ever 10 years, but is only viewable to the people that believe in it. Later, she meets a little girl whom she learns from the child's mother that everything she says is a lie. The child has lied about having an incurable illness to her mother and to Molrusso multiple times. When she meets the child again, she learns that the child has the same picture book about the shooting star and that the girl comes to the Stargazing Hill to wait for the star. Suddenly, the lie becomes real, and the child becomes faint with a fever.

Molrusso vows to find the shooting star in the child's place, so she can wish for the child to recover. After staying awake all night, they learn the "truth" about the shooting star. In the end, Molrusso has to make a difficult decision on what to tell the child.

This story, though when I first read it, I never had too much care for it, but as time has gone on reading it a second time, I can appreciate it a bit more. It's a cute story and really shows the determination of Molrusso's. She wanted to do anything to help the child, even if learning that the child often did what she didn't like, which was lying.

Now to talk a bit about Durand's Traveler Story. Durand is a happy-go-lucky and free spirited kind of man. He enjoys a good party, a good glass of wine, and a good adventure! His story starts off exactly like that until he has a chance meeting with a merchant named Lorenz. Lorenz is a bit of an opposite to Durand, but during the short time they get to know each other, they're friends. Lorenz asks for aid from Durand multiple times throughout the story to help protect his cargo from potential threats like pirates. Durand agrees because he is "used to dealing with pirates". After a few successful business trips, pirates ambush Durand and Lorenz. They're from a group of pirates called the Ocean Fang. Here, we learn that Durand was once the second in command to the group, but he had left after realizing he wasn't "free" with them. Durand longs for freedom and to do things his own way, and continuing on with the Ocean Fang was no longer his wish. With encouragement from his new friend, Durand manages to overcome the past with the Ocean Fang and he deals with them himself, obtaining the freedom he longs for. By the end of the story, Lorenz asks Durand if he wants to be business partners, but Durand refuses for now, telling him he still has members of the Ocean Fang to help become free as well. He does promise to come back to Lorenz so they can go into business together! <3

And since this is Pride Month, I want to take a moment to say that I ship Durand/Lorenz and I totally think they will be a nice couple together. I headcanon Durand as gay. The dancer lady in the artwork literally means nothing to this story, trust me. Durand is just a guy who wants to party with anyone who wants to have a good time. Here's my 2021 Pride Art of Durand from last year. It's a bit old now (as I changed my chibi style), but I still like the turn out of it! I plan to remake it.
