The Manifesto Show’s Last Shamrock Monoscene Night

This Friday the Manifesto Show continues its St. Patrick's Day tradition with our 5th Annual Last Shamrock Monoscene Night!

Each team will perform a monoscene set in the fictional bar The Last Shamrock, but that fictional bar will be stocked with VERY REAL booze. And of course, every team will be given a UCB performer to serve as their bartender!

This year's bartenders are Dickie Copeland, Wayland McQueen, Edgar Momplaisir, Jake Regal, Joel Spence, and Jacob Wysocki! Additionally we're happy to be serving spirits from Blinking Owl Distillery this year. And as always, poster by James Mulholland.

Plus, there are only 8 more weeks left before The Manifesto Show retires, so come get in on this boozy, commie fun!

I saw this set live. I don’t think I’ve seen a Cagematch set kill this hard. They build to an incredible ending by doing the simple work up top: grounded world-building and starting scenes in disparate places (the biblical story of Jesus, a mattress store, the movie Aladdin, Babe Ruth’s house, Bill Gates...)

The Enemy was maybe the most talented UCB Harold Night team of the past five years. It’s no surprise that half of them were quickly poached to weekend teams, and many of them are now teachers. This set won them the Cagematch crown, over such talented ringer teams as Fuck That Shit and Grandma’s Ashes. (The Harold team Slamball was formed out of The Enemy’s remaining members, and would also do some INCREDIBLE Cagematch shows, including one legendary set about their own insecurities that never got posted online).

In celebration of the man and his foreshadowing ways, Chekhov's Gun Night is an evening of suspenseful scenes and loaded improv. Each performing team will be given a loaded cap gun to be used at their discretion. Build suspense by leaving the unused gun center stage until the final moments, or use it early on in order to propel a monoscene forward but every team must use Chekhov's Gun.
