Why the heck did he accept getting into this?! For crying out loud, those are people dying! All around him! And they keep coming back, as if this were the ultimate sadistic play from that bastard snake. Just… what sort of sick design is this?

And now they were expecting him (or rather, his Servant) kill these people? C'mon, he doesn’t even know what they’re fighting for. Besides, Megaman follows Asimov’s Laws. He’s the worst possible Servant to go against human enemies!

Thus, for now Shintaro is limited to using his code casts for survival. Grabbing a stick on the floor, he feels the mana cursing through his magic circuits (don’t ask how he knows how to cast magic like this, not even Shintaro himself understands it) as it becomes solid and tough as a steel sword, allowing him to knock down a villager. He knows this thing won’t last long, though.

“You found any safe zone?” He shouts to his partner through the Triplicata on his hand. The robot went ahead a bit for scouting, but looks like Shintaro didn’t take into account how bad the signal is at this area. “Damnit!”

Mamika had only recently arrived-- and she had yet to find her so-called master or where her place to rest was. Yet, as she walked around the expanse of the city, as she took everything in for herself, the young girl was starting to get the picture of how Utopia was. Just the kind of world this place was. The city itself reminded her of Tokyo-- but not her Tokyo. The Tokyo of the world she visited before. 

The vast amount of information this world had, the complexity the world held. Everything insignificant, every minor thing from the flowers on the side of the road to the concrete she stepped on was filled with detail. This Tokyo-- this Utopia, must be a real world. 

But, if there was something she learned, it was that just one perspective-- especially in an information dense world as this one-- was not enough to get the clear picture. She shouldn’t be making a judgement on her own just from her own experiences. 

*:･ﾟ★ “I’m sorry, but can you tell me... just what kind of world this place is?” So she reached out, to someone who held the same... what was it? Presence? as her. This person is a servant.... right?

 The seconds ticked away like the knell of a funeral bell, a sombre metronome drawing out the wait for news - good, bad, anything. Even without the means to do so, Rock could feel phantom sweat pouring down his face as he worked. The pressure was weighing down, somehow even heavier than any fight with Dr. Wily. If he messed this up, there would be no Dr. Light or Roll to help him fix it, no convenient Roboenza Cure to reverse the virus’s effects, just the disappointment of the one person he needed to trust him most.

 For Shintaro’s sake, he needed to power through, no matter the cost!

 It seemed like days before Rock re-emerged - however long it really was, it was far too long - with a worn but happy expression on his mechanical face. Shutting the door behind him, he rested a hand on his Master’s shoulder, not to shake him but to comfort him.

 “It’s okay - she’s gonna make it.” Since when was the computer a ‘she’?

He couldn't stand it anymore. Shintaro's body was already covered in scratch marks born from anxiety. He has already made a couple trips to the bathroom, neither of them very pleasant for those who've just had lunch. He was moving frenetically on the sofa he laid on, in a way that a stranger would think that he's having a seizure.

And then... "Doc- I mean, Megaman!" He rushes towards the robot, preoccupation obvious on his tone and demeanor. "How is she doing? Will she survive?" Ever since Shintaro decided so, looks like. Once the Servant gives his prognosis, the NEET starts crying tears of joy. "Oooooh, thank goodness!"

And then, in a rather uncharacteristic fashion to him, he suddenly hugs the other. "I-I can't thank you enough!! If I had lost my baby here, I... I dunno what I'd doooooo!!!! Waaaaah!!!"

     Aster Arcade was grand, more impressive than she could’ve imagined. From the variety of games to prizes, it was definitely a hotspot for this troublemaker. After all, if she can earn candy from playing video games, who wouldn’t give it a shot? Most of her time was spent on a shooter game-- she had the skills thanks to her magic, after all. With a pile of tickets by her side, she was gaining them at a steady pace, but there had to be a better method..?

     ...This game was two-player, she noted. And you know what that means: a chance to make even twice the amount she was making now!

     “Care for a match? Don’t get your hopes up at beating me though. I’m the champion.” It’s uncertain whether that was the truth or she was bluffing. Still, waving the boy over, she was already starting up the second player’s controller. Looks like he doesn’t have a choice whether or not to join!

 Even without an actual brain, Rock felt a strange presence from the boy. Like some weird transmission interference, guiding him towards him beyond the will to help him. He was on the cusp of asking what it was when he mentioned something about a Servant right after his hand markings started glowing. Now, what had they said that meant…? Oh, yes! This was his Master! … Convenient timing, when he’d just started worrying about him.

 Part of him wished he hadn’t just yet - all of a sudden, the boy (apparently Shintaro?) began yelling, and he flinched back in an animation that was just a little too familiar.

 “M-Me!? I’ve been helping people get away from the Infected! While I was searching for you!” Well, more ‘searching for my Master’ as opposed to him specifically, but the sentiment was there! “Anyway, at least I’ve found you now, so that’s… better, I guess! Are there any of the Infected nearby? I’ve been meaning to look into the Fragments people keep talking about, and I can keep you safe this time too!”

Forgive me, Rock. Shintaro is simply not in a good mood right now and he isn’t exactly known for the ability to flawlessly deal with his emotions, you see. But the robot has a point. It’s not like he was actively avoiding Shintaro, the city is simply too big and in a mess.

If only any of them knew about the Servants’ ability to telepathically notice when their Masters are in danger, though...

After a bit, Shintaro rubs his eyes and take a breath to calm down. Starting things on a bad note with his Servant wouldn’t benefit any of them in the long run. “I have some of those with me, lemme see...” He takes the items from his pocket. “3? Yeah, 3 of them.”

“Oh, right, the voice said I’m not supposed to go out revealing your name to everyone around, so, what’s your Servant class? And would you like me to call you by something else? I’m Shintaro Kisaragi, by the way. Nice to meet you.”

 Well, at least it worked. Honestly, he wasn’t sure how Rush’s teleportation happened, considering the satellite system wasn’t in place here, but he wasn’t going to complain if it helped to get Shintaro to safety, no matter how fleeting it would be. Perhaps it had something to do with the Master-Servant Mana connection? …Or just sheer will?

 Rush bounded to his side, barking as if he would understand what it meant, before switching over to Jet form - extra handle included for his pleasure comfort. Rock had briefly explained how Rush worked to him after the incident with his computer, and so it was all he could do to hope that he’d remembered and would trust the dog to carry him wherever he was needed.

 Mainly because he had other problems on his hands; granted, his hands were massive, there wasn’t much he could do to stave the fighters off without hurting them, but what he could do, he’d make use of to its fullest. Super Arm, Flash Stopper, and Ice Slasher were his best bets, so he’d have to make do with stunning his enemies with the flashes from Flash Stopper until Rush could come back and fetch him too!

 As if he hadn’t attracted enough attention already…

Don't worry, Megaman. With Shintaro's eyes, he can remember every single detail about the moment when you explained Rush's functions to him. Plus, years of playing your games made him familiar with the concept already.

With a last glance around to make sure that no enemies can come after them, Shintaro rides Rush, his reinforced stick in hand just in case he needs to beat an incoming enemy. Hopefully it won't be needed, but he's gotta make do with the few castings he has. He wonders whether he could reinforce Rush in case they need to barrage through a bunch of enemies at once...

Ah well, hopefully it won't come to that. As Megaman had already pointed out, he'd already neutralized most enemies on their way. Shintaro sighs in relief. Will these guys really stay like this or will they stand up and run towards them? Or be killed by less merciful Servants...

At last, Shintaro spots the meeting point. However, they stop a bit before it. The area is already sieged thanks to Megaman's efforts to create a distraction. Shintaro grimaces. "Archer... You big dumbass!"

“W-What?!” Shintaro watches aghast as a sudden flash of energy manifests before his eyes. An energy beam… is that Megaman’s doing? Well, it certainly serves the purpose of showing his current location to Shintaro, however… won’t it also attract enemies?

“That dumbass…” He cursed under his breath, until he notices something coming his way. That red structure… it must be Rush, Megaman’s dog! (Funny, I don’t remember Rush coming with us. Did Megaman summon him here?) Thinking about it, how does the robot summon his partner in the games?!

Eh, he’s overthinking it. He’d better just approach the dog get this over with. Shintaro makes sure to avoid walking through the open paths. Who knows whether the enemies have stealth based folks in their ranks or not.

“What? Can you repeat that? Archer? Archer!” It was too late. The signal fell down, which means that Shintaro is effectively on his own. He wondered if it was worth it spending a Command Seal to force the robot to his side (as he supposes magical connections are working better than technological ones here), but no. He should spare those for when he’s in immediate danger of dying.

(Let’s see… Megaman’s tone didn’t sound particularly nervous, so considering the bits I caught, I guess he’s telling me to go ahead. I can’t see any enemies closeby, so I’ll assume the path is indeed clear.) After nodding to himself, Shintaro starts moving ahead at the direction the other went by originally.

It doesn’t take long for him to spot the marks of Megaman’s doing. Several enemies, including a couple knights even, can be found laying down on the floor, their faces twisting in pain. Shintaro is not stupid to stand around while they might start recovering from the effect, so he dashes through them, always making sure he’s not under arm grabbing distance from them.

 As their sole means of communication died away, it was all he could do to hope that Shintaro had gotten what he meant. In retrospect, he’d said a lot, and that was a bad idea even with a good signal. Blues had told him it gave enemies lots of time to track it, and if he was convinced about it, then it had to be true, right?

 He emptied his head with a short sigh - he had enough to worry about without thinking of his brother’s tactics. As promised, he turned in place and memorised the location before calling in Rush and making sure the Item 2 handle was firmly in place for Rush Jet.

 “Okay, Rush. I’m gonna do something real stupid, but when I do, I want you to go get Shintaro and take him over there. Okay?” he asked, pointing to the building. The way he whined said that he didn’t approve of the idea, but Rock simply laughed and pet his head. “I’ll be okay - I’ve held up half of Wily’s castle before! This is nothing!”

 He seemed much more confident with the plan now, glancing to the building, then down to where a stark red hoodie could be seen in the midst of metal. The dog rushed off, and Rock switched back from Spark Shock to his Mega Buster. This would almost certainly draw attention to him, but if it meant his Master could get by unnoticed, it would be worth it. He was the one with armour, and even compared to the soldiers, Ceratanium was almost certainly better than whatever theirs was made of!

 His core began to overcharge, building up pressure in the Buster before aiming up…

 Even if the Three Laws hadn’t stopped him, the programs that could only mimic a conscience would have. Dr. Light had raised him better than to resort to things only Dr. Wily would make a robot do, and he intended to stay that way for as long as he could. However, even that didn’t seem possible here - with a glance to his Buster, he read three bars left of Weapon Energy. Three Spark Shocks left, if that. Three chances to escape combat without harming a human, at least until he found another non-lethal weapon in his arsenal…

 The sounds of static broke him from the glum realisation that he would once again have to injure someone whether he liked it or not, and he drew the Triplicata close to his ear to hear the message.

 “Y̡ou ̴fo͞und ańy ͘sa̴f́e z̡o̧ne?"̷

 Internally, he cursed whatever was interfering with the signal here. He would have to remember to try his helmet’s communicators instead once they had met up, but that was assuming they could manage even that. As he took a quick scan around, he noticed the ruins of a building with its bottom half intact. While it wasn’t ideal, it would certainly be better than the open, and its broken top would give an easy escape if needed.

 “I think I can see something!” he replied, trying to be loud without drawing attention. “I’ve paralysed any fighters I’ve found, so it should be okay for you to follow. I’ll come back and make sure you’re okay. Make your way over!”
