Daphne and Velma - The Dark Deception (YA Novel #2) by Morgan Baden - Scholastic Inc. - Paperback/Digital/Audio – July 7, 2020 . Daphne and Velma - The Vanishing Girl (YA Novel #1) by Josephine Ruby - Scholastic Inc. - Paperback/Digital/Audio – March 3, 2020 . Daphne and Velma - ??? (YA Novel #3) by ??? - Scholastic Inc. - Paperback/Digital/Audio – February 2, 2021   I just listened to these two books and they were great. The second one came out a couple of weeks ago. The books are set in the Crystal Cove of the Mystery Inc series, but the gang only solved mysteries for a summer when they were 10. Now in High School, they have all drifted apart, but Daphne and Velma find their way back together to solve new mysteries.  , During the stories, the POV flips back and forth between the two girls, and we get to experience their feelings a lot. At times it feels like a lot of a lot, but it works out really well when the stories hit their third acts.  . The mysteries are great, but like Mystery Inc, there’s definitely a bigger mystery bubbling in the background that feels a bit like Limetown. I really hope the series goes long enough to let that unfold.  . Shaggy shows up a bunch. Fred shows up a little. Scooby is usually with Shaggy in the first book, but only gets a few mentions in the second. There’s new versions of everyone’s families for this series. A very different Marcie (Hot Dog Water) shows up here. This Marcie is not in love with Velma, but another recurring Scooby-Doo character (who I won’t spoil here) wouldn’t mind smashing with her.  .
