It wasn’t uncommon for the twins to leave the Mystery Shack after dark, sometimes staying late after working a short shift and talking to Soos. Despite that Dipper was such a skeptic, he was also intrigued by the woods at night and the mysteries they held. You never knew what you’d stumble upon in Destiny Isle after all. Tonight proved just that as the twins left the shack and a mysterious green portal magically appeared nearby. Dipper stopped in his tracks, putting his arm in front of his sister to stop her as well since she seemed to be distracted by their previous conversation. “Mabel, are you seeing this?!” He quickly interrupted her, staying put with wide eyes as he watched someone emerge from the portal. It disappeared as soon as the person stepped out of it, someone who appeared to be close to their age and carrying a backpack and …. a gun of some sort? Dipper didn’t move his arm away from the front of Mabel, feeling protective despite his curiosity.
Morty stepped through the portal for what felt like the millionth time, having been searching for a new home after running away from his home dimension. He was tired and hungry and slightly frustrated, struggling to find a universe that was somewhat normal and not full of danger and chaos. He’d seen some wild things along his journey, and he was ready for some peace and some rest. This time, as he stepped into this new universe he was met with somewhat normalcy, familiarity almost. He didn’t think he’d ever been here before, but it was the closest to his home dimension that he’d seen since leaving. Morty locked eyes with the two strangers in front of him, awkwardly raising the hand that didn't carry the portal gun to wave hello and show that he meant no harm. “Uhhh …. Hi, I’m Morty,” he began, feeling like an alien by the way the male was staring at him. “Can you tell me where exactly I am? I-I’m just looking for a place to stay..”

“There’s my superstar!” At the sight of his eldest nephew, Mickey walked up to him before pulling Morty in for a hug. Mindful of his still healing injuries, the man then pulled away and grinned at the younger. He had came to visit his nephew on set during his filming of Heathers, aware that by now all the shoots for the day should have came to an end with everyone wrapping up to start heading out. “How did everything go today? Got to shoot any thrilling scenes this time around?” Mickey then questioned, taking a step back so his nephew could continue freshing up. He was also aware that the filming for the musical was almost coming to an end, the cast only needing a few more scenes to shoot before they can officially wrap up for good. Mickey was excited for Morty, he was excited for Millie too, and he couldn’t wait to see the end results to all his nephew’s and Minnie’s nieces hard work. It’s going to turn out great, he just knew it! “Have you ate anything yet? If not, it’s mine treat!” [ @mortyfields ]

"Don't treat me like a child." -Morty ( @mortyfields )
“Oh shush,” The woman began, placing a gentle hand against Morty’s shoulder and pushing him back so he was laying back against the couch. Daisy had decided to take a visit to the Fields twins apartment. At first, the intention was to go and check on Dewey, make sure he was doing alright now that the boy hasn’t been living at home for the past couple of weeks. But once she arrived, she found that Donald’s nephew wasn’t at home, in fact, no one else was outside outside of one of them— Morty. Now, it wouldn’t have bothered the designer as much to not have caught Dewey in time, she could always give him a call later on if she wanted. However, at the sight of the eldest Fields boy and the bandages he had on wrapped around his person, the woman couldn’t help but gasp. Without uttering another word, she let herself in and once the door was closed behind her, Daisy immediately dragged Morty towards the couch. At his claims for her to not treat him as a child, all that did was cause her to roll her eyes where she then shushed him for it. “I’m not trying to treat you like a child, I’m merely worried.” She elaborated, looking at him with concerned. “Morty, what happened?”

"I can't hide anything from you, can I?" -Morty
Instead of saying anything in return, Fawn snorted before shooting Morty a knowing look. As his recently turned ex-girlfriend yet still date for the night, one would think that after noticing the amount of times his eyes would stray away and stare at a certain dressed in blue and blonde haired girl, that it would annoy Fawn since he wasn’t paying much attention to her. If anything, the brunette should’ve maybe even been kind of jealous that he was looking at another girl who wasn’t her. And yet— there was no jealous feelings there. That was more Tink’s kind of brand anyways, even though she can admit that it was kind of annoying with how many times Morty had gotten distracted since arriving to the ball. Almost as if he wished he had asked her to be his date for the this masquerade ball rather than agreeing to come here as friends with Fawn. Why he didn’t do so, she wasn’t about to question it, but what the brunette will do is say this to him. “You’ve been staring at her the entire night.” She commented, now smirking at him. “I think everyone here can see how transparent you’re being right now. Which leaves me to say— go talk to her! You look like you’ve been dying to anyways.” ( @mortyfields )

"I can't walk... You're gonna have to carry me." -Morty
When she first received that text from him about how he was at some random bar and needed help getting home, Bubbles assumed that maybe Morty hadn’t meant to text her. He couldn't be texting her this late at night! Not when he had other people he could’ve messaged. Like his twin! Or better yet, like his current girlfriend! But then another message popped up on the screen of her phone, him asking once again while saying how drunk he currently was and how he can’t drive back home without getting into some kind of car wreckage. Bubbles stared at those messages for another minute before she let out a soft sigh. Well, if he was asking for her help then— she was out the door without a second thought. Tracking Morty through his location, the brunette found that he was at a nearby bar a few blocks away, and so after a few minutes of walking, she made it and walked through the bar’s entrance. There, she spotted him trying to catch the bartender’s attention, asking for another drink until Bubbles made her way towards him. Placing one hand on his shoulder and using the other to turn his head so he was facing her, the brunette examined his current state. Her eyes soften before she shook her head.
“Come on, let's get you home.” She claimed, sliding her hand down his arm so her hand can grasp his, tugging Morty off from the stole he sat on and making her way back towards the bar’s exit. But once they made it outside, he claimed to not being able to walk anymore and how she needed to carry him. At that, Bubbles rolled her eyes and yet she lightly smirked at him. “Oh yeah? And how do you want me to carry you? Want to hop on my back or should we go the classic princess bride style?” ( @mortyfields )

"I'm not even going to pretend to understand what you're talking about." -Morty
“Seriously?! What’s so confusing about dramatic Sky Pirates?” The blonde asked, coming to a sudden halt in her story when Morty admitted to not understanding anything she was saying. Webby had thought she was doing a fine job in her retelling of the events that had happened back when she and the boys first met Don Kernage and his Sky Priate Crew. Especially when her story consist of how much into theatrics Don Kernage was, which if anything, she had figured would’ve caught Morty’s interest the most since he was pursuing acting himself. “What? You don’t believe there is such a thing as pirates who rule the sky instead of the sea? Because if you don’t, than just go and ask Dewey and he will tell you! He was the one who met them and has first hand personal experience with even becoming their new captain for a short while!” ( @mortyfields )

"Hey, is this asshole bothering you?" -Morty
Taking in a deep breath, Sophie was this close to casting a spell on this guy in order to make him finally go away. Like, how many times does she need to tell him that she wasn’t going to give him her number, and to please leave her alone, before he finally get’s the hint that she seriously was not interested??? More than three times apparently. All the brunette wanted was to order her pumpkin spiced mocha and just go, but of course with it being the first day of October, making it officially autumn season and the start of any pumpkin related drinks being sold, it wasn’t surprising how crowded the Lucky Cat Cafe was at this early in the morning. The line ended just by the front door, and if it weren’t for the fact that the Lucky Cat made her favorite drink the best (plus whatever special treats the owner had decided to whip up for the halloween season), Sophie would have turned around and gone somewhere else by now. But the wait in line would have been worth it— if it weren’t for the annoying guy behind her. “Come on, gorgeous. give me your number and let me take you out sometime?.” Said the guy once more as the brunette balled her fist. She knew she shouldn’t. Marnie would berate her if she found out that she did, but one measly spell wouldn’t hurt now wouldn’t it? With a specific spell in mind, a grin was about to make it’s way onto her face until she heard a familiar voice interrupting them.
“He was, actually.” Sophie admitted, feeling glad to see Morty’s face. “For some reason he won’t take “no” as an answer even when I’ve said it repeatedly that I wasn’t going to give my number. And this is, what? The  fourth time he’s asked for it?” ( @mortyfields )

Despite the tears she was wiping away, the actress smiled as Morty’s hand rested over hers. Both his actions and his words reminded Millie that no matter what, even through heartbreak, she could never lose him as a best friend. They were too intertwined, connected and bonded since they were young — Morty would forever hold a special place in her heart.
Her smile grew wider as she saw his tattoo. “Ride or die,” she nodded in agreement, turning her wrist in his direction to show her matching tattoo. She gave him a soft, playful push as he called her an old childhood nickname, one she’d almost forgotten about. It was definitely better than Milliepede. Suddenly reminded of his injuries though after lightly pushing him, Millie straightened her posture, eyeing him carefully as if making sure she hadn’t hurt him by mistake. “Sorry, I almost forgot…” she trailed off, her smile fading a bit.
“Do you need anything at all?” Millie asked, wanting to be helpful if she could in any way. She’d never seen Morty like this before, and despite that they just talked things out, she was still distraught by the sight of him. “How can I help?”
Reaching up to place his good hand over hers where it laid on his shoulder, Morty watched Millie wipe her tears away and wished he could do more to comfort her. It was a different kind of heartache than he was used to—to want to console a best friend but being unable because he was the very cause of her tears. And not in a way where he could just apologize for hurting her and make it all better, forgive and forget, but a way that was going to stick around. For a while, at least. A wound like this was going to hurt for a while. There was nothing he could do to fix it, and nothing he could have done to avoid it in the first place…Right? Was it worse to think that this was all inevitable, or that it was preventable and he had actively chosen the path that led them here?
Perhaps Millie wouldn’t be crying right now if they had never dated to begin with, or if he and Bubbles hadn’t gone out and broken up first; maybe he’d have been able to give his heart completely to Millie and they would have felt right together. Would they still have ended up like this if they had gotten a different start? There was no guarantee, so it was pointless to speculate and stay caught up in the guilt of it. He just hoped that when Millie found someone else to fall even deeper in love with—someone who was nothing like that Rowdyruff boy—they would take better care of her heart than he had.
He took a deep breath and answered her question, “We’re okay. There’s nothing you could do to change that, okay? You’re always going to be one of my best friends.” He squeezed her hand before letting it go to show the tattoo on his wrist. “Ride or die, Millie-Moo.” The use of a childhood nickname he hadn’t called her in years harkened back to the bond they had shared before their dynamic was ever colored by romance, the implication being that they’d overcome this hurdle and their friendship would remain as strong as ever, because it was deeper than falling in and out of love.

"You want me to punch him in the face?" -Morty
Dewey shrugged his shoulders at the suggestion. “Well yeah, I want you to,” he admitted, “we probably just need to find a good reason first.” It had been awhile now, spending time with Tiffany and hoping for something more, but now he was starting to wonder if he was in over his head. Of course he was going to vent to his friend about his dislike for Randy, but was his distaste for his crush’s boyfriend even valid? “Help me out here, Mort, what do I do?” @mortyfields

"How about a kiss before I go?" -Morty
"Absolutely not," Mir was quick to answer, holding a hand in between their faces for extra protection. Not that she thought Morty would actually do it without permission, but sometimes the typical platonic flirting could teeter on a line, even if it was all just in good fun and nothing more. Mir peeked their head to the side to look at Morty without the hand in the way. "Besides — who said you're leaving so soon? You can't just leave me here to die of boredom." @mortyfields

With his arm around her shoulder, Alice relaxed into the comfort he provided, leaning her head against him. She never knew quite what it meant, that she and Morty easily treated one another with such familiarity when really they’d only met so many times throughout the years—neither did she know what it would be like when they were both together in her home dimension for a change. But she did know that the moment she realized they were in the same universe, she had no intention of opening shop today. She was thankful, despite all the challenges that went along with being a small business owner, to be as free as a bird when it came to living on her own schedule.
“I would like that very much.” Her answer came without hesitation. “I’m my own boss, so I can take the day off and show you around. It is…a rather large island; one day won’t be enough to see it all. But perhaps we could spend more time…” Alice paused, chewing on the inside of her cheek for a moment. She had been so caught up in the excitement of Morty being here, she hadn’t yet wondered how long he would stay. It dampened her excitement to think of him leaving. “How long will you be visiting?”
Sitting beside Alice, Morty was comfortable enough to put his arm around her, feeling warmth radiate from her presence even though this was only a dream. It was easier to be more confident in a dream though, even as he could feel his heart racing in excitement at the thought of seeing Alice in real life again soon. Very soon. His eyes widened again, still trying to comprehend how this was real. An hour was so soon — would he have enough time to get something nice for her and get ready too? Morty considered getting her some flowers, wondering if he should use the portal gun to quickly get her some before her arrival... He just didn’t want to be empty-handed when she came to see him!
“Wow .. this is great,” Morty sighed contently, letting the worries of getting ready and getting her flowers be a problem for when he awoke. His arm around Alice squeezed her shoulders gently. Suddenly, any concerns about his grandpa or the rest of his family didn’t seem to matter. Suddenly, he had a reason to possibly stay here for good, which was what he had hoped for anyway. “Maybe you could show me around the island? I-If you don't already have plans or anything.”

“What? He’s cute,” Mabel whispered aside to her brother as he chided her for being too immediately friendly with the new guest to their dimension. Despite just about everything they’d ever gone through and knowing things weren’t always as they seemed, she still hadn’t learned to lead with mistrust. Maybe it was also because of everything they’d gone through that she felt they could make it out of anything. They had the determination, the smarts and the skills to get through any trial by fire—nobody was going to come out of a tree and just take them out like that! Plus, the guy was cute, and she had forgone stranger danger for less.
“Yes!” she followed up as Dipper agreed to show Morty around under the condition he answered some questions for them. Mabel sidled up next to their new friend as they began to head toward the motel. “What’s your sign? Am I detecting Pisces somewhere in your chart? Virgos are veeery compatible with Pisces if you didn’t know!” She looked up at him meaningfully as she added, “I happen to be a Virgo…” By no means were all her questions about how and why he came to be here and what the deal was with his portal device forgotten, but sue her for trying to break the ice before launching an interrogation. She just knew as soon as Dipper started harassing him for information, there would go their chance to build rapport!
Both the twins had so many thoughts pop into their heads as they watched the stranger emerge from the portal. Dipper was curious yet also cautious: Where did the portal come from? Is it dangerous? Is this guy human or does he only appear as human? Even if he looked harmless, it didn’t mean he actually was — Dipper had learned that firsthand from their adventures over the years. Before he could warn his sister to keep her guard up though, she was reaching out to shake the stranger’s hand and introducing both of them. “Mabel!” Dipper protested as he side-eyed his twin, who name dropped them both before they even knew it was safe to do so. Sure, Dipper was just as intrigued, but he didn’t want them to end up in any sort of danger. How could they be sure they could trust this guy?
Morty couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity from these two, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Had he visited this dimension before? The name didn’t seem familiar to him though; if anything, Destiny Isle sounded kinda corny, fictional even. Still, he shook Mabel’s hand as Dipper eyed him carefully. “Destiny Isle…” Morty repeated, pulling his hand away from hers to put his portal gun away in his backpack. He didn’t know who Grunkle Stan was or what the mystery shack could be, but he was grateful they weren’t far from a motel. Hopefully this dimension didn’t have any strange form of currency. “Thanks. Can you show me the way? I-I'd like to learn more about this place before sticking around, if you could help me out,” Morty admitted. He needed to know more about where he was to truly decide if this was the right place to stay or not, and it seemed like these two could potentially be helpful.
Dipper pursed his lips, finally dropping his arm from in front of Mabel. What did this Morty guy want to know? There was only one way to find out, even if it meant putting some trust into this stranger and spending more time with him. On the bright side, it also meant having time to ask this guy everything he and Mabel were eager to learn about, specifically the portal and where he came from. How did it work?! Dipper glanced at Mabel before he gave in, the benefits outweighing the cons. “… I guess we could,” he answered, playing it off as if he wasn’t ready to ask a million questions and intrigued to learn more about him. “But only if you answer some questions we have.” Morty didn’t really have anything to hide, shrugging as he began following the siblings.

None of these injuries were fresh, that much Daisy could tell. Whatever accident or incident Morty had been involved in, it happened quiet some time ago, but not too long—a week or two at most? But despite coming to that conclusion, the woman found herself frowning at the sight still. How come she hadn’t been told about this sooner? Certainly outside Ferdie and Dewey knowing, the fashion designer could only assume that both his mother’s knew about this as well, along with both Minnie and Mickey. That is, she hoped they all knew, otherwise, she’ll have to convince Morty to inform them unless he wanted her to tell them herself. But first, she needed to know what happened, and fortunately the young man told her the truth. A fight, and not just any regular fight, but one with a Rowdyruff Boy of all people. Hearing that caused Daisy to tsk her tongue, tsking at Morty before she shook her head in disapproval. “Why in the world would you get into a fight with a Rowdyruff Boy?” The woman questioned, ignoring the fact that he mentioned it was the one his girlfriend and best friend had dated. That alone does give Daisy the answer she wanted, assuming it involved the Rowdyruff being jealous—however, that didn’t explain why Morty got involved in the first place. “Do your mom’s and Minnie know about any of this?”
Tumblr media
Although he complained about being coddled like so, Morty did appreciate the concern from the woman he considered his bonus aunt (despite that they weren’t related by any means.) As far as maternal presences in his life went, he already had two moms of his own and Aunt Minnie to fret over him when he was hurt, so the extra attention from Daisy was somewhat unnecessary, albeit nice. He truly was able to stand and take care of himself, though, which was exactly how he had come to be left alone after days of being monitored by his girlfriend, brother and best friend—whoever was home with him at any given time. He had just convinced them he was adjusted enough to handle being on his own (Bubbles having been the hardest to persuade) but fate itself seemed to intervene by sending Aunt Daisy to his doorstep. She hadn’t even been here to visit him, that was the funniest part! After telling her Dewey wasn’t home, she insisted on coming in anyway, just to sit down and ask what happened to him—which was fair enough, Morty knew he still looked rough. “I, uh…got into a fight,” he said sheepishly, ducking his head. He didn’t know if she’d reprimand him for his foolhardiness or not, but he had nothing to lose by telling the story and hearing how stupid he was again. “You know that Rowdyruff boy Bubbles and Millie both dated? We had a run-in and it ended up…like this. I’m really fine, though, I swear!”

At the mention of how the crew had some good blooper reel content from their shooting today, Mickey laughed. He was glad to hear that Morty enjoyed himself with the shooting for today, even with it being one of the hardest scenes to film, the proudness within his nephews tone only made the older feel proud for him himself. “I’m positive they got everything. If not, it would just be a quick reshoot for whatever that was missing.” The famous actor reassured, as he slipped his arm around his nephews shoulder. Hearing him say he was starving before questioning where they were going, Mickey grinned. “I was thinking the both of us head to an old favorite joint of ours?” He replied, as the pair began to walk away. It didn’t escape him the way the other people who were still at the set stared at him, the actor shooting them a quick smile at their directions but ultimately not stopping. He was here in support of his nephew, and the last thing Mickey wanted was to take any of the attention away from Morty. This project was about him. Not Mickey. “What do you say? Unless you’re craving for something different?”
Morty beamed at the arrival of his uncle, hugging him back as tightly as his injuries allowed. (His bruised abdomen was still sore, but at least his face had cleared up by the time filming started, or the makeup department would have had to work harder to cover up his real injuries just to add the fake ones in the right places.) It looked like Morty wasn’t the only one on set excited to see Mickey Mouse show up, but the actual superstar only had eyes for his nephew, coming straight to him to ask how filming went. It had definitely been an exciting day, shooting one of the more complex scenes filmography-wise. “We filmed Fight For Me. It took about a million takes, so hopefully we got everything they need. We definitely got some content for the blooper reel!” Having changed out of his costume and washed up in his trailer already, Morty was just about ready to head out. “I’m starving,” he answered, definitely exaggerating because why wouldn’t he ham it up when his uncle was offering? Craft services on set were good, but dining out was better. “Where are we going?”

It was merely a single sentence he uttered, and yet it was enough for Emily to tell how impacted by his uncle and aunt he had been within his pursuit for acting. It made her smile even more in return, but also had her wondering of the kind of projects his uncle and aunt had worked in. Were the two quiet famously known? Or were they more low-key? It didn’t matter much to the former actress on what level of acting they were in, as long as they were able to pursue a field they enjoyed and had been successful at inspiring their nephew was enough for her. Still, her curiosity wanted to get the best of her again, but she wasn’t sure if inquiring about his relatives work was invasive or not.
After introducing herself, she wasn’t sure of what kind of reaction she would reactive. Would he immediately pin-point her as the same actress he had been gushing on about due to her similarities to, well, herself? Or would he think she was making a joke, as if Emily decided to take advantage of the fact that she looked like herself, but was secretly an entirely new being? Morty’s response indicated that it indeed had been the later, and while a small part of her had hoped he would believe she was the exact same actress she was relating her to, she cannot say she was surprised that hadn’t been his main conclusion. “Reincarnation, huh? I supposed you can say that is what it is.” The corpse vaguely replied, although not finding that to be one hundred precent the case. If things goes as she is hoping for with Victor than maybe Morty was truly onto something right there. But as of now, she was still completely and utterly herself, just masked within magic. “Oh yes, I’ve actually been—” Cutting herself off, it now dawned to Emily that while she had acted on countless different titles and works back when she had been alive, as of currently? Not so much. She hadn’t even tried to book an acting gig as of yet for that matter. “—I have acted before, yes, but not so much as of lately.”
Tumblr media
“Had to be—I don’t remember a time I wasn’t interested in acting,” he answered the question, thinking back on his childhood for the inspiration of his passion. Of course, there were times he fancied himself a future zoo-keeper or musician or dancer, but his admiration for his uncle’s and aunt’s acting careers and desire to follow in their footsteps was also deep-rooted. And with musicals, he could at least incorporate two of his other aspirations in with the acting. (As for zoo-keeping, he could still have as many pets as he wanted.) His earliest role on screen was when he was seven, playing Tiny Tim in an adaptation of A Christmas Carol, but even before that he was the lead in his first grade play and putting on his own shows for his family every week after Ferdie would help him come up with a script. He’d say acting was in his blood, if he was actually blood-related to Uncle Mickey.
When Emily introduced herself, his brows raised in surprise. “No way,” he replied, just in the way of someone hearing something unexpected, not because he actually disbelieved her when she told him her name. She could indeed be joking and trying to get a reaction out of him, but she seemed too genuine to doubt. Even so, he was stunned to learn that somebody who looked so much like the long-gone actress had the same name as well. It wasn’t as if Emily was that uncommon of a name, but still…“Reincarnation is the only explanation,” Morty said, mostly joking. Mostly. It was kind of a crazy coincidence, and magic did exist, and he didn’t really know what he believed about life after death, but he wasn’t going to jump to such conclusions when simpler explanations existed: Emily happened to look like Emily, because that was a thing that could happen. "Really, though, you could play her in a biopic. Have you ever thought of getting into acting?"

After leading him toward the tree, Alice sat with her back against the trunk, motioning Morty to sit with her. If this were her own dream he would lay his head in her lap and she would run her fingers through his hair, but this was his dream and she was simply a visitor, so he was free to do as he wished here. That included going about saying things she wouldn’t have imagined in her wildest dreams, like that he was in Destiny Isle too. She hadn’t even dared hope that he would be this close by. Learning that he was not only in the same world as her, but on the very same island, Alice almost began to question whether this Morty was a figment of her own subconscious, but she knew he wasn’t; she had already tested it and this was a shared dream. He was the real deal, and he was so near in the waking world that they could see each other when they woke up, no great travel necessary but by car. The Mystery Shack wasn’t too far from town, sort of out in the woods a bit itself, but the motel should be right off the highway.
“I could be there in under an hour,” she said, her voice hushed with breathless excitement. Or perhaps a little longer, including however long it took her to get ready…She wouldn’t want to just show up in her nightgown with bedhead and morning breath! She would want to wear something a little nicer, although maybe she shouldn’t get too dressed up. It wasn’t really an occasion like a first date or anything, though it almost felt like such with the way her heart fluttered at the thought of meeting him in person for the first time in so long. Alice hardly wanted to wait any longer than necessary, but it could still be the middle of the night even if they woke up right now. She tried to relax where they sat reclining in the shade to enjoy the rest of their time here peacefully, but it was hard not to feel like jumping up and around.
Morty's smile only grew as Alice's cheeks reddened and she attempted to contain a giggle. He'd almost forgotten how much he missed being around her, having been so long since they were both together. For a split second, he even forgot he was in a dream at all, just appreciating this moment with her while he could. It wasn't until she began to describe where they currently were that Morty refocused, still trying to decipher what exactly was real and what wasn't. Any normal person would see where they were and assume it was a dream, but both Morty and Alice had faced adventures in different dimensions with lots of wild and colorful scenery — the forest they currently stood in was rather tame in comparison.
Morty's question had been sort of a test, though at first he wondered if it was a failure; listening to Alice dreamily recall her time in Tulgey Wood almost had him convinced that she actually was just his imagination. It wasn't exactly what he meant by his question, an attempt to test her and see if they really were in the same dimension; still, he played along. "I think we found our way this time." He hoped so. The inner conflict of whether he'd wake up in disappointment or not still lingered, but Alice's eagerness to talk before they woke up helped to squash some of that doubt. Eyes lighting up in interest, he followed her lead.
Settling beneath one of the large trees, Morty continued to let Alice take the lead, as that's the way it went in any normal dream, right? If it really were Alice and not a dream, he hoped that whatever she had to say next would truly confirm it. As soon as Destiny Isle escaped her lips, Morty's eyes widened. "D-Did you say Destiny Isle? Seriously?" When he'd arrived to this dimension (after many different attempts of hopping through portals), hearing that he'd ended up at a place called Destiny Isle of all things almost sounded fake — like some sort of fairytale land. When Alice said it though, even with the remaining sliver of doubt that she could simply be a part of his subconscious, it actually felt real. He continued eagerly, "That's where I am right now — H-Have you ever heard of The Mystery Shack? I'm staying at a motel near there." Morty's lack of interest in this universe was now replaced with so many questions, wondering if Alice has always lived here and what the chances were that he happened to end up in her home dimension.
