everyone thinks I have a really high pain tolerance, because once on a guide camp I broke my arm in two places and didn't tell anyone till I got home

in reality there were no adults I knew around when it happened (it was a big camp with lots of different guide groups), so I walked back to our tents, I had to stop half way becuase I was crying so hard from pain I couldn't see, when i got there my guide leaders weren't there so i went to wait in the tent, passed out for an unknown length of time, got found by the leaders who told me off for not doing camp stuff, removing my ability to tell them I was in a serious amount of pain

anyway, I went and climbed a tree that afternoon, and convinced everyone my body started violently shaking becuase I was scared of heights (I am not, at least not those kinds of heights), and not because my arm was screaming at me and unable to support my weight

#not dw #the day after I got back #too embarresed to admit I thought I had seriously injured my arn and not told anyone #i said to my parents #oh I fell over the other day and my arms been a bit sore ever since #they say #yeah it looks a little swollen #lets take you to minor injuries #whoops its badly broken #oh thats surprising it barely hurt #i lied and have never been able to admit the truth #leaders joked about it the rest of the time i was a guides #which i did find funny #mostly becuase I would have told them if they'd been there when i got back #but the sleep and lack of movement for an extended period meant the pain had subsided just enough at that point #to think it was nothing serious #and once it was coming back and getting worse #too late #i did learn my lesson though #in pe the following year #my pinky got caught between a moving basketball and someones hand #it really hurt #i told the teacher #teacher says its nothing #probably just pulled a tendon #i continue with my day finger hurting so badly i couldn't write #by the time i got home my finger was blue #i had pulled a tendon #so badly in fact it broke my finger #so now i've unlearnt the lesson
