Sixpenceee shit is the most forced meme? What about he craves that mineral?
nah, you see, there's a difference between a Forced Meme and a Bad Meme, in my experience. Bad Memes are memes that I personally don't find funny or like, but do follow the new meme equation: most importantly it wasn't intended to be a meme, and secondly other people made it as such. that is the root of all new memes, as obviously different meme spinoffs and variations are intended to be memes but they're already under an Established Meme. The original mothermeme must follow that basic equation: OP did not intend for it to be a meme, but it was decreed it would be so.
now we apply that example to a Bad Meme and a Forced Meme. the Bad Meme is annoying and unfunny, but follows the equation. sixpenceee did not intend 'he craves that mineral' to be a meme. it was an accidental case of awkward and unintentionally funny wording that catapulted it to meme status, which is how many memes have begun in the past ('all your base are belong to us', to use an example). other people ran with it and sixpenceee was along for the ride; once a meme takes off, you are helpless to stop it. 'crave that mineral' became a web-wide meme, love it or hate it. it had variations, subversions, crossovers, and perhaps most importantly, masses of people who had no idea where it came from in the first place. if you dislike it, it was a Bad Meme, but a Forced Meme it wasn't. 'crave that mineral' was annoyingly, chaotically accidental.
'that's some sixpenceee shit' is a Forced Meme. it was intended to spread and was almost certainly intended to be a branding tool. it lacks randomness and cannot be used for variations or crossovers. it is parroted by only a small group of people and cannot be exported into other contexts. it lacks the defining feature of a meme: the ability to anonymously spread far and wide and leave its context behind. it is neither a joke or an accident. the only reason it survives is because a small minority deliberately slap it on everything. it is alienating and unrelatable. by definition, it barely qualifies as a meme. it makes the same mistake as corporations trying to relate to younger people: it assumes that a meme is merely a catchy phrase or slogan, and that memes spread when you parrot them enough. this is not the case. this is a Forced Meme.
it's a common mistake to make, thinking you can force a meme, but they cannot be forced. like the chaos of the universe they are a law unto themselves; unpredictable, sudden, a divine creation beyond our understanding. when they happen we are only permitted to run with them. we cannot guide them and we cannot summon them. we can change their shape but never their core. you cannot control such raw chaos.
